Abstract

The level of feeling experienced by patients as a result of the performance of the health services they receive after comparing it with their expectations is known as patient satisfaction. The purpose of this study was to illuminate how the satisfaction of health workers with the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is poured into the dimensions of content, chimney, format, ease of use, and timeliness at RSU Imelda Buruh Indonesia Medan. Based on the criteria that have been set, this study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. A total sample of 62 people was taken from the population. Observation sheets and questionnaires are research tools. This study found that the use of EMR on the variables of content, precision, ease of use, and timeliness is met with the satisfaction of health workers at RSU Imelda Buruh Indonesia. However, the variable format does not satisfy satisfaction, There is no relationship between the use of EMR in the format variable and the satisfaction of health workers at RSU Imelda Buruh Indonesia. It It is recommended that there are more detailed regulations regarding the use of RME so that the use of RME at the Imelda Buruh Indonesia Hospital can be maximized and that there is a need to re-socialize the regulations on the accuracy of filling in RM so that RM recording by PPA is more complete and accurate so that the quality of reports as RME output can be improved.

Abstract

Unsafe actions are behaviors that can endanger workers or others and have the potential to cause workplace accidents. In addition, unsafe conditions in the work environment are also important factors that increase the risk of accidents. This study aims to determine the relationship between unsafe actions and unsafe conditions with the incidence of occupational accidents among workers at PT X in 2024. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was proportional random sampling. From a total population of 129 workers, 55 were selected as research samples. The study was conducted from March to September 2024 at PT X Padang. The results showed that 52.7% of respondents experienced workplace accidents, 52.7% performed unsafe actions, and 56.4% worked under unsafe conditions. The chi-square analysis indicated a significant relationship between unsafe actions and workplace accidents (p=0.001), as well as between unsafe conditions and workplace accidents (p=0.002). These findings confirm that unsafe behaviors and unsafe working conditions contribute to the occurrence of workplace accidents. Therefore, companies need to strengthen the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enhance supervision and safety training, and encourage workers to consistently use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent occupational accidents. Moreover, effective occupational safety management is essential to minimize the risk of workplace accidents.

Abstract

Ineffective medical waste management can pose serious risks to the environment and public health. With the increasing number of healthcare facilities in Batam City, efficient and safe management of solid medical waste has become a key priority in ensuring environmental sustainability and community well-being. This study aims to identify current practices of solid medical waste management in hospitals and to formulate strategies that align with regulations and local conditions to improve the quality of waste management. The research employed a qualitative design with a case study approach, conducted at one hospital in Batam City. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, document analysis, and Focus Group Discussions. Data analysis was performed using triangulation techniques, and the results served as the basis for strategy formulation through SWOT analysis. The findings show that most hospitals have complied with the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation (PerMenLHK) No. P.56/2015, although technical constraints and limited human resources remain challenges. The attitude of healthcare workers was found to significantly influence waste management practices. The SWOT analysis positioned Hospital X in Quadrant I (aggressive strategy), indicating favorable conditions for improvement. The hospital needs to enhance human resource capacity and implement policies based on the 5R principles (reuse, reduce, recycle, recovery, repair).

Abstract

The burden of mental health problems is increasing, necessitating early diagnostic confirmation and intervention. Screening for mental health problems is a preventive strategy that can be carried out by trained community health cadres; however, cadres’ performance in screening practice remains variable. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of mental-health screening training on cadres’ knowledge and to examine whether demographic factors influence training effectiveness. One-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design is used and involving 55 community health cadres recruited via purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of nine statements to measure the level of knowledge of cadres regarding screening for mental health problems, the validity and reliability of which had been tested.Changes in knowledge were tested using the Wilcoxon Signed-rank test. Training effectiveness was assessed with normalized gain and compared across age group, marital status, and occupation using the Mann–Whitney U test, and education level using the Kruskal–Wallis test. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge after the training (p < 0.001). There were no significant differences in effectiveness by occupation (p = 0.640), marital status (p = 0.942), age group (p = 0.342), or education (p = 0.698). Mental-health screening training improves cadres’ knowledge, while the demographic factors do not affect training effectiveness. Studies with control groups and effect-size reporting are recommended to strengthen the inference.

Abstract

This research uses a mixed-methods approach with a cross-sectional study design conducted in Tapin District, South Kalimantan. The research population includes 4,704 employees of PT A, with a sample of 374 respondents selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. The research instrument is a validated questionnaire that has undergone readability testing, expert validation (Aiken's V ≥0.75), and reliability testing (Cronbach's Alpha 0.884-0.931). Data analysis uses Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4.0.9 software. The structural model shows moderate-substantial explanatory power (R²=0.593; Q²=0.364). All three hypotheses were accepted with significance p<0.001. OHS Knowledge is the strongest predictor (β=0.331; f²=0.172 medium), followed by Management Commitment (β=0.285; f²=0.075 small) and Supervisory Function (β=0.272; f²=0.062 small). Convergence of quantitative and qualitative findings shows 50.5% of respondents emphasized OHS knowledge as the most influential factor, with 23.8% recommending priority for applicative training. Controlling unsafe actions depends more on individual competency development than organizational factors, consistent with Social Cognitive Theory. These findings have important implications for community health, as improved workplace safety can reduce accident burden on mining workers and their families. Further research is recommended using longitudinal designs to explore the long-term impact of OHS programs on community health, conducting comprehensive cost-benefit analysis, developing family safety programs models, and exploring mediation-moderation mechanisms using multilevel modeling.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the health risks associated with respirable dust exposure following the implementation of a dust suppression system. A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed, involving 30 workers from PTX’s based on NIOSH. Personal dust sampling was conducted using the NMAM0600 method. The results indicated that the average concentration of respirable dust was 0.4760mg/m³, below the threshold limit value (TLV) of 3 mg/m³ set by the ACGIH. Risk characterization using the risk quotient (RQ), RQ<1. Simulation using the MPPD model revealed that particles with a diameter of approximately 4 µm had the highest deposition rate in the thoracic region of the respiratory tract, potentially triggering inflammatory responses and pulmonary fibrosis. Despite the low current exposure levels, continuous monitoring and enhancement of dust control measures are recommended to prevent long-term health effects such as silicosis and COPD. The study emphasizes the importance of regular health surveillance, appropriate use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle to ensure occupational safety and health in mineral ore processing environments.

Abstract

Preschool children often exhibit picky eating, choosing only foods they like, leading to stunted growth and development. In addition to growth problems, nutrition can also affect cognitive development, namely, short-term memory skills. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between picky eating behavior and nutritional status, as related to short-term memory ability, in preschool-age children in the Working Area of the Pannambungan Health Center, Makassar City. This type of research uses a descriptive analysis approach with a cross-sectional design with independent variables of picky eating behavior, nutritional status, and dependent variables, namely short-term memory ability measured at one time, with a total of 76 respondents who have preschool-age children, taken by purposive sampling technique, and data analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of the study yielded a p-value of p < α (p = 0.000), indicating a relationship among picky eating, nutritional status, and short-term memory ability in preschool-age children. The conclusion in this study is that picky eating behavior and nutritional status affect short-term memory ability in preschool-age children. Therefore, it is recommended that parents monitor their children’s diets by providing a balanced, varied selection of nutritious foods that support the growth and development of preschool-age children.

Abstract

Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) was a collection of symptoms associated with poor indoor air quality, with higher symptom severity among individuals experiencing psychosocial issues. This study aimed to determine the relationships between air chemical factors (PM2.5, PM10) and psychosocial conditions and sick building syndrome complaints. The research methodology used was quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The sampling technique employed was total sampling, with a sample size of 41 individuals. Data analysis was conducted using the chi-square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that 24 workers (58.5%) experienced SBS complaints. There was no significant association between CO and SBS complaints (p-value = 0). However, there was a significant correlation between PM2.5 (p-value = 0.031), PM10 (p-value = 0.031), and psychosocial conditions (p-value = 0.007) with SBS complaints. This study concluded that there was no significant correlation between CO and SBS complaints. However, a correlation was found between PM2.5, PM10, and psychosocial conditions with SBS complaints. It was recommended that the company improve the work environment by enhancing air circulation, maintaining workplace cleanliness, conducting regular environmental monitoring, and improving workers’ psychosocial conditions to reduce SBS complaints.

Abstract

Smoking behavior among adolescents in Indonesia is increasingly alarming, with the number of active smokers reaching 70 million and a significant rise observed in the 13–15 age group. Early initiation of smoking increases the risk of nicotine addiction, non-communicable diseases, and the economic burden on both families and the nation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of digital peer education in enhancing adolescents’ motivation to quit smoking. Methods: This systematic review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Article searches were performed in Scopus, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest databases between March and April 2025. Inclusion criteria were developed based on the PICO framework and focused on quantitative studies involving adolescents aged 10–19 years who participated in digital peer education interventions. A total of 10 studies (4 randomized controlled trials, 2 quasi-experimental studies, 2 cohort studies, and 2 cross-sectional studies) met the inclusion criteria and were critically appraised using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. Results: The review revealed that digital peer-based interventions significantly improved adolescents’ self-efficacy, knowledge, and intention to quit smoking. The interventions included online peer education, digital games, social media messaging, and school-based modules. Most studies demonstrated positive outcomes, although variations in evidence strength were noted due to methodological differences, limited follow-up, and reliance on self-reported data. Conclusion: Digital peer education has strong potential as an effective strategy to enhance adolescents’ motivation to quit smoking. Further studies with more rigorous designs and longer follow-up periods are recommended to strengthen the generalizability of these findings.

Abstract

Introduction: Service waiting time is a key indicator for measuring hospital quality. However, data indicate that outpatient waiting times at several hospitals exceed the standard duration, and Goenawan Partowidigdo Hospital faces similar issues, with long queues and prolonged outpatient registration wait times. Registration via the online application was extremely low, ranging from 0.21% to 3.10% (May–July 2024 data), and the service waiting time consistently exceeded the target of >60 minutes, sometimes reaching 2 hours and 22 minutes. Objective: This study aims to optimize the outpatient registration system at Goenawan Partowidigdo Hospital through an integrated digitalization approach to reduce waiting times, relieve queue congestion, and ultimately improve the patient experience. Methods: This study used a qualitative case study design conducted from September to November 2024. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 11 key informants (4 management staff, 4 registration staff, and 3 patients) using purposive sampling. Qualitative analysis, including a fishbone diagram, was conducted to identify problems. Data on online registration utilization and waiting times were analyzed descriptively to compare the periods before and after the intervention. Results: Online registration utilization increased significantly in the post-intervention period to 86.19% in June and 87.96% in July 2025. Consequently, the waiting time decreased to approximately 1 hour and 16 minutes in June and 1 hour and 08 minutes in July 2025. Conclusion: The optimization of outpatient registration at Goenawan Partowidigdo Hospital, achieved through a holistic approach that integrated digitalization and intensive education, successfully relieved outpatient queue congestion and reduced service waiting times.
