Abstract

Abstract Self-disclosure is the process of revealing personal information to others and plays a vital role in identity development, emotional regulation, and the formation of healthy interpersonal relationships, especially among adolescents. However, within the Indonesian educational context, students' openness remains hindered by factors such as shame, fear of stigma, and a lack of supportive environments. This study highlights findings from the 2023 Counseling Corner program in Karawang Regency, which revealed a high level of student resistance to disclosing personal issues, even through anonymous mechanisms. It is necessary to implement guidance and counseling approaches based on safe spaces, trust-building, and the use of expressive methods such as art therapy and narrative techniques to promote self-disclosure. This approach not only supports students' emotional well-being but also serves as a preventive strategy in creating an inclusive and psychologically healthy school environment. Keywords: self-disclosure, guidance and counseling, students, psychological well-being, safe space.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of group leaders as catalysts of group dynamics in psychoeducation through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The method used refers to the PRISMA protocol, with stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Data sources were obtained from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, SAGE Journals, and MDPI, with publications spanning 2019–2026. Based on the selection process, 10 articles were selected and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The results indicate that the effectiveness of group psychoeducation is significantly influenced by the quality of the group dynamics established during the process. In this regard, the group leader acts as a catalyst, actively facilitating, directing, and optimizing interactions between members. This role includes facilitating dynamics, creating a safe psychological climate, managing interactions and conflicts, and constructing an inclusive interaction space. These findings confirm that group leaders act not merely as passive facilitators but as active agents accelerating the process of psychological change through effective group dynamics. Therefore, strengthening group leadership competencies is a crucial aspect in improving the quality of group psychoeducation services.

Abstract

Sexual harassment in schools endangers students' right to learn in a safe setting. This study aims to (1) identify essential aspects of emotional support that help prevent sexual harassment and (2) explore the relationship between students’ perceived emotional support and their ability to respond to such incidents. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the research sampled 304 students from public high schools in Palopo City through quota sampling. Data were gathered via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including tests for validity, reliability (Cronbach's Alpha), normality, linearity (ANOVA), and Spearman Rank correlation. Results reveal that emotional support from teachers, peers, and the school environment plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of security and mitigating sexual harassment. The instrument demonstrated adequate reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.752). Although the data were non-normally distributed (Sig. < 0.05), the relationship between variables remained linear. Spearman’s correlation indicated a coefficient of 0.452 with a significance level of 0.000 (< 0.05), highlighting the positive effect of emotional support on preventing sexual harassment in schools. Kata kunci: emotional support, sexual harassment prevention, school.

Abstract

The digital transformation of higher education has intensified academic demands, placing university students at heightened risk of chronic fatigue that disrupts cognitive functioning. Despite growing awareness of this issue, the mechanisms through which academic fatigue impairs learning concentration, particularly the mediating role of self-esteem, remain underexplored in the Indonesian higher education context. This study examined the direct and indirect effects of academic fatigue on learning concentration, with self-esteem as a mediating variable. A total of 1,172 active university students across Indonesia were recruited via simple random sampling. Data were collected using three validated instruments: the Academic Fatigue Scale, the Self-Esteem Scale, and the Learning Concentration Scale. Path analysis using the lavaan package in RStudio confirmed that fatigue exerts a significant negative direct effect on self-esteem (β = -0.456, p < 0.001) and learning concentration (β = -0.306, p < 0.001). Self-esteem partially mediated the fatigue–concentration relationship, with an indirect effect of -0.089 (95% CI [-0.117, -0.059]) and a total effect of -0.396. Power analysis validated the sample’s adequacy, yielding statistical power exceeding 0.99—well above the minimum required threshold of 176 respondents. These findings demonstrate that academic fatigue undermines cognitive functioning both directly and indirectly by eroding students’ self-perception through mechanisms of internal sabotage and imposter syndrome. Theoretically, the results support Cognitive Load Theory and the Anxiety-Buffering Hypothesis within the digital higher education context. Practically, universities are recommended to implement Student Assistance Program (SAP)-based interventions, encompassing regular fatigue screening, cognitive load management training, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to reinforce students’ self-esteem as a cognitive buffer and break the chain of fatigue’s adverse effects on academic performance.

Abstract

Orphaned adolescents often face various psychological challenges, especially those related to identity crisis and the search for the meaning of life. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of identity crisis and the search for the meaning of life in adolescent orphans. The approach used is qualitative narrative, with three adolescent orphans in Jambi Province as informants. We collected data through in-depth interviews conducted in several meetings. The data obtained were analyzed using the thematic analysis method. The results indicated that the adolescent orphans did not experience a significant identity crisis but were able to show stability in understanding themselves and their roles in the social environment. Despite the loss of their parents being a deep emotional experience, the informants in this study were still able to build a positive self-image and maintain confidence in living their daily lives. In addition, they also showed positive activities in finding the meaning of life, such as setting personal goals, maintaining meaningful social relationships, and developing a spirit to make their remaining family proud. The practical implications of this study can be a reference for Guidance and Counselling (BK) teachers in developing special family guidance and counselling programs that are more responsive to the psychosocial needs of orphaned students in the school environment.
