Abstract

Background: Community mentoring is a strategic approach to rural development that places the community as the primary subject, particularly in developing tourism villages based on local potential. Method: This community service activity uses a participatory approach grounded in community-based tourism, with stages of outreach, training, mentoring, and evaluation, actively involving the community at every step of the process. Results: The mentoring results indicate an increase in community understanding and capacity in managing tourism villages. Communities have begun to actively participate in tourism activities; local institutions, such as the Tourism Group (Pokdarwis), have been formed; and tourism-based economic enterprises, such as culinary and other tourism support services, have developed. Furthermore, community participation in tourism village management has also increased, although the economic impact has not been felt evenly. Conclusion: Community mentoring through the tourism village program can encourage increased community capacity, participation, and economic activity. However, ongoing mentoring and support from various parties are needed for optimal and sustainable development of tourism villages.

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Peningkatan konsumsi gula tambahan pada anak usia dini menjadi perhatian global karena berkaitan dengan risiko obesitas, gangguan metabolik, dan penyakit tidak menular seperti diabetes melitus tipe 2 (Diabetes mellitus). Kondisi serupa juga ditemukan di Desa Tabumela Kabupaten Gorontalo, yang ditandai dengan tingginya konsumsi makanan dan minuman tinggi gula pada anak balita serta rendahnya literasi gizi keluarga. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu mengenai risiko konsumsi gula berlebih, menurunkan kebiasaan konsumsi gula pada anak balita, serta memberdayakan ibu dan kader posyandu melalui Gerakan Keluarga Sadar Gula. Metode: Metode yang digunakan berupa edukasi kesehatan dengan ceramah interaktif, diskusi, wawancara, serta media leaflet dan video. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada 7 Oktober 2025 dengan melibatkan 32 ibu balita, kader posyandu, dan bidan koordinator puskesmas. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan desain pre test dan post test. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 44,46 menjadi 70,24 (p < 0,05). Kesimpulan: Kegiatan ini efektif meningkatkan pemahaman ibu tentang diabetes melitus dan konsumsi gula berlebih serta memperkuat peran keluarga dalam pencegahan penyakit tidak menular usia dini berbasis keluarga di wilayah pedesaan.

Abstract

Background: Adolescents have high curiosity that can potentially lead to risky behaviors related to reproductive and sexual health. Access to accurate information has been shown to be effective in reducing these problems. However, the implementation of reproductive health education in Islamic boarding school (pondok pesantren) settings continues to face significant barriers arising from social stigma and limited access to information, despite the fact that students (santri) remain equally vulnerable to reproductive health issues as other adolescents in the general population. This community service uses the Snakes and Ladders game as a medium to provide education to students at Minhaajurrosyidiin Islamic Boarding School as a preventive measure. Methods: The methods used in this community service are lectures and Snakes and Ladders as an interactive learning medium. Results: Knowledge was assessed through a pretest and a post-test. Baseline results showed 71.1% with poor knowledge, 28.9% with moderate knowledge, and 0% with good knowledge. Following the intervention, significant improvement occurred: good knowledge increased to 42.1%, moderate to 50%, and poor decreased to 7.9%. The mean score increased from 50.0 to 75.0, confirming that the combined lecture and Snakes and Ladders approach effectively enhanced adolescents' knowledge of reproductive and sexual health. Conclusions: Education related to reproductive and sexual health should be carried out routinely at the Minhaajurrosyidiin Islamic Boarding School, both as a form of preventing risky behavior and reproductive health problems in adolescents.

Abstract

Background: Masa remaja merupakan fase penting dalam pembentukan karakter, tetapi keterlibatan remaja dalam kegiatan sosial di lingkungan Kelurahan Lamper Lor masih rendah. Tujuan: Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran, kepedulian, dan keterlibatan remaja melalui pelatihan character-building berbasis pembuatan jembatan kayu dari stik es krim. Metode: Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan edukatif pada remaja usia 13–18 tahun di Kelurahan Lamper Lor, Semarang, dengan melibatkan orang tua. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi pre-test, penyampaian materi, praktik kelompok membuat jembatan kayu, diskusi, post-test, dan pengisian kuesioner kepuasan mitra. Hasil: Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan jawaban benar sebesar 32% pada post-test, tingginya antusiasme peserta, serta munculnya komitmen remaja untuk kembali aktif dalam kegiatan Karang Taruna. Kesimpulan: Secara umum, pelatihan ini menunjukkan bahwa media sains sederhana dapat digunakan sebagai sarana pembentukan karakter dan penguatan keterlibatan sosial remaja di lingkungan kelurahan.

Abstract

Background: Program pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui inovasi minuman jamu modern berbasis Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) dilaksanakan di Desa Catur, Kecamatan Sambi, Kabupaten Boyolali, dengan tujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan kemandirian ekonomi warga melalui optimalisasi potensi lokal. Metode: Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui tahapan edukasi manfaat dan budidaya TOGA, demonstrasi pembuatan jamu modern, serta pendampingan berkelanjutan yang menekankan aspek keberlanjutan. Peserta kegiatan ini terdiri dari ibu-ibu kader, anggota gerakan masyarakat, dan remaja. Hasil: Hasil kegiatan ini sebagai upaya untuk peningkatan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah bahan herbal seperti jahe, kunyit, dan bunga telang menjadi produk minuman modern yang menarik, seperti telang latte, kunyit latte, dan sirup jahe, yang memiliki nilai estetika dan potensi ekonomi tinggi di kalangan generasi muda. Kesimpulan: Program ini tidak hanya berhasil mengubah persepsi masyarakat terhadap jamu tradisional yang sebelumnya dianggap kuno dan pahit menjadi minuman sehat yang kekinian dan bernilai jual, tetapi juga membentuk komunitas kader KAGACA (Kader TOGA Desa Catur) sebagai motor penggerak keberlanjutan program. Kolaborasi antara masyarakat, akademisi, dan pemerintah desa dalam kegiatan ini menciptakan ekosistem kewirausahaan baru berbasis kearifan lokal yang inovatif dan berdaya saing, sekaligus menjadi langkah nyata dalam pelestarian budaya herbal Indonesia melalui pendekatan kreatif dan adaptif.

Abstract

Background: The increasing number of Indonesian students studying abroad, particularly in Malaysia, demands strengthening knowledge capacity from an early age to compete globally, including in the agribusiness sector. However, observations indicate that Indonesian students in Malaysia still have a limited understanding of basic agribusiness concepts. This international community service activity aims to improve basic agribusiness understanding through educational transfer through visual media. Method: The implementation method includes a preparation stage, direct learning implementation supported by visual video media, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test instruments. This activity involved 15 elementary school students in grades 4-5, aged 10-12 years, at a learning center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Results: The results showed an increase in participants' average score from 50% on the pre-test to 81.25% on the post-test, a 31.25% increase. These findings indicate that the use of visual video media is effective in improving students' understanding of basic agribusiness concepts. Conclusion: This community service activity supports the transfer of agribusiness education to Indonesian students abroad and strengthens the implementation of the three pillars of higher education in the context of community service.

Abstract

Background: The coffee industry is one of the rapidly growing agribusiness sectors and provides great opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses, especially in the downstream sector such as the processing of ready-to-serve coffee beans. In Jayapura City, the increasing growth of coffee shops has not been matched by the availability of professional roasting services and human resources with technical skills in coffee bean processing. Therefore, this community service activity was carried out with the aim of increasing the capacity of the community and MSME partners in recognising coffee bean types, understanding the roasting and grinding process, and producing ready-to-serve coffee products to support the needs of local coffee shops. Method: The activity was carried out through the stages of target identification, preparation, socialisation, practical training in roasting and brewing, mentoring, and evaluation using questionnaires and hearings. Results: The results of the activity showed that participants enthusiastically attended the training and experienced an increase in knowledge and skills in distinguishing between Arabica and Robusta coffee types, understanding roasting temperature and duration, grinding techniques according to brewing needs, and the basics of coffee cupping for taste observation

Abstract

Background: Stunting remains a public health problem in Depok City, including the Krukut Subdistrict, while community understanding of stunting prevention and the use of local nutritious food ingredients remains limited. This community service program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge of stunting prevention and strengthen their skills in producing healthy snacks for toddlers, specifically BROCA cookies made from broccoli, carrots, and chicken. Methods: The program involved 30 women from Majelis Ta’lim Ar-Rahman, RW 01 Krukut. Activities included health education, basic anthropometry training, demonstrations of BROCA cookie preparation, and discussions on home-scale production and marketing. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires covering knowledge of stunting, child feeding, parenting and care, and stunting prevention. Results: Participants’ understanding increased across all evaluated domains, with statistically significant pre- to post-intervention differences (p=0.001). Conclusion: This program indicates that community-based education combined with practical food processing training has the potential to support stunting prevention efforts and encourage household-scale economic empowerment.
