Al-Izzah: Jurnal Hasil-Hasil Penelitian

Al-Izzah receive article from academics, researchers, and students national and international in the field of Muslim community, education, culture, gender, and any social religious issues. The articles published in the journal Al-Izzah covers scientific research result as a priority research, scientific articles review, and responses or critics to the existing the prior researches. Journal Al Izzah published twice a year by Intitute of Research and Community Development (LP2M) IAIN Kendari and always places Islam and Muslim society in the central focus of academic inquiry. Article submitted in the form of original ideas, based on research result (both library as well as fieldwork), and not yet ever published in journal anywhere. The manuscript submitted to Al-Izzah is independently reviewed by at least two reviewers in the form of "double-blind review". Decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation. In certain cases, the editor may submit an article for review to another, third reviewer before making a decision, if necessary.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover and analyze learning methods, strategies and factors that support and hinder tahfizh and interpretation learning strategies at Pondok Tahfizh Baitul Qur'an al-Askar Kendari and Khalilul Qur'an Kolaka. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative research, using the theory of Umar's Al-Qur'an memorization strategy and the interpretation method of 'Abd Hay al-Farmawiy. The results of the study found that Pondok Tahfizh al-Askar Kendari and Pondok Tahfizh Khalilul Qur'an had carried out the steps of learning tahfizh in accordance with the formulation of behaviorism learning theory with the habit of memorizing which was repeated accompanied by a good stimulus and response from students, then using strategies that compiled by S. Nasution namely by identifying the specifications and qualifications of the students, then establishing a learning system, then determining the methods and techniques for learning tahfizh and interpretation, and evaluating learning. As for the tahfizh method based on the formulation of Umar's tahfizh method, there were differences in methods between the two huts, the tahfizh hut of Baitul Qur'an al-Askar uses three tahfizh methods, namely the Tariqah Wahidah, Muraja'ah and talqin teachings, while the Tahfizh Khalilul Qur'an hut Kolaka uses four methods, namely the Wahidah, Muraja'ah, Talqin, and sima'an methods. As for the interpretation of Pondok Tahfizh Baitul Qur'an al-Askar, it uses ijmaliy (global) interpretation and questions and answers in accordance with the division of interpretation according to 'Abd Hay al-farmawiy who is guided by an Ustadz, by explaining verse by verse according to systematics, then explanation of the general meaning, then a brief mufradat meaning, an analysis of the Arabic language rules and the general meaning of the verse. Whereas Pondok Tahfizh Khalilul Qur'an uses the question and answer method via online, and is not in accordance with the ijmaliy step. As for the supporting and inhibiting factors, there are two, namely internal and external, internal about the ability of students and murabbi/murabbiyah teachers, as well as existing facilities, while from external factors in the family environment, both mothers and colleagues. This finding has implications for contributing to the development of Al-Qur'am memorization and interpretation learning strategies, and can direct other researchers to conduct more comprehensive studies, especially regarding various problems of students in the process of learning tahfidh and interpretation as well as developing aspects of the Islamic boarding school model. Abstract

This study aims to identify the system of Islamic education faced by the Pesantren during the period of upheaval. This study is a preliminary qualitative study aimed at analyzing various literature on the critical issues of Pesantrens during the period of disruption. The data obtained in this study were collected using documentation methods and subsequently validated using source triangulation techniques. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion formulation. The study revealed the following. (1) Pesantrens will activate the Islamic education system by expanding the scope of the santri through extracurricular activities according to the interests and talents of the santri. Pesantrens will focus on all areas of life (Internet of Things), big data, and artificial intelligence for information gathering and knowledge transfer. (2) The Role of Pesantrens in an era of disruption following Advances in Science and Technology. Islamic education still depends on three terms – tarbiyah, ta’lim, and ta’dib – and the use of each has many implications. The role of science and technology can be fulfilled through innovation, teaching methods and media. (3) The digital needs of a disruptive age in Pesantrens can make accessing information and knowledge easier for the santri. Changes in Islamic education will be examined, particularly the medium of instruction, teaching methods, and the Islamic curriculum in the digital age. (4) Solves the problems of the system of Islamic education in Pesantrens by adapting and restructuring it to the social requirements and challenges of the digital age based on Islamic principles. The strategies of the project are: improving Pesantrens based on values, improving the human resources of Pesantrens, improving the material and technical base of Pesantrens and the development of Pesantren curricula

Abstract

Eksistensi etnis Tionghoa di Jawa telah berkontribusi pada lahirnya pola kehidupan sosial budaya yang multikultural. Keberagaman budaya tersebut merepresentasikan budaya Tionghoa dan budaya Jawa yang seimbang dan harmonis. Koeksistensi yang terbentuk telah menciptakan ruang budaya yang integratif dan akomodatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dan melihat lebih dalam eksistensi dan koeksistensi budaya Tionghoa di tengah mayoritas Jawa di Yogyakarta. Penelitian kualitatif ini dilakukan dengan metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi di Ketandan, sebuah kampung Cina di kota Yogyakarta. Berbagai perayaan dan festival budaya yang menjadi bagian dari agenda masyarakat Kota Yogyakarta dilihat dalam menguji tingkat penerimaan budaya Tionghoa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eksistensi budaya Tionghoa di Yogyakarta ditanggapi secara positif dan diakui keberadaannya. Budaya Tionghoa dapat hadir secara dinamis di tengah mayoritas Jawa. Hal tersebut telah membentuk koeksistensi budaya yang berkeseinambungan. Koeksistensi dua etnis, di mana budaya Tionghoa dan budaya Jawa dapat hadir berdampingan tanpa kesenjangan atau kecemburuan sosia, telah berhasil menjadi solusi untuk merawat keberagaman budaya.

Abstract

Over the past decade, the anti-usury movement that has been heavily promoted on social media has developed, particularly among Muslims in Indonesia. This establishes a pattern for how bank employees interpret the Qur'an and Sunnah, which influences their decision to leave the company and, in turn, indirectly affects the banking and financial stability of the Muslim community. This study examines the discourse surrounding the dissemination of hadith on Instagram via xbank social media from the standpoint of hadith reception. The data collected from the official xbank Indonesia account was evaluated using exegetical reception, and it was determined that the anti-usury and anti-hijrah banking movements were founded on literal decontextualized readings. Contextual and maqasid issues pertaining to the benefits of texts are not adequately addressed in interpretation/syarah. Without a thorough analysis of the hadith’s interpretation, the hadith of usury is used to condemn the majority of banking activities. In fact, the maqāṣid hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) can be used to formulate modern financial system formulations so that the two do not exclude each other.

Abstract

The development of religious moderation is an urgent consensus, both conceptually and practically, to give birth to a society living side by side in harmony and tolerance towards fellow human beings. The concept of moderation in achieving a tolerant position in the cultural values of ethnic groups is an important indicator to complement and expand the study of moderation in religion and social affairs. The purpose of this research is to reveal the local cultural values of the Bugis community in building the concept of moderation in religion. The method in this study is to use ethnographic studies, an infiltration approach between Islamic teachings and the local culture of the community, and data collection techniques using in-depth interview techniques with Muslim and non-Muslim communities. The results of the study show (1) internalization of an attitude or society that puts human values between fellow believers and different ethnic groups around it; (2) internalization of sipakalebbi, community respect for fellow believers of different beliefs, and living in harmony and side by side. (3) internalization sikaunge that Bugis culture reminds each other of as a basis for anticipating repressive actions and intolerant attitudes. This article has implications for the conceptual development of religious and social moderation by prioritizing the approach of socio-cultural values in society without reducing religious values themselves. In addition, the implications of this research can also provide an alternative to the process of fostering religious and social moderation to create a tolerant atmosphere based on regional geography, culture, and other habits

Abstract

Thibbun Nabawi or also called the Treatment of the Prophet has an attraction especially when Covid-19 appears. This provides a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to be involved in this Nabawi Thibbun Nabawi business, especially in Indonesia with the majority Muslim community. The marketing is even easier with the help of social media. Various kinds of strategies are carried out to promote the products sold including using the Qur'an and Hadith verses. In this case, the Qur'an and hadith are used for certain purposes outside of their functions. To uncover this phenomenon I explores data from Instagram social media. The results of this study are: 1) Nabawi Thibbun Products which are most often promoted with verses of the Qur'an and Hadith in Instragram are honey and habbatussauda’, 2) The use of verses of the Qur'an and hadith behind this phenomenon is included in Islamic marketing which functions as a promotion and communication strategy as well as a da'wah platform and economic improvement. In addition to selling merchandise, behind the use of the Qur'an and hadith there are efforts to broadcast and revive the teachings of the Qur'an and hadith, especially in maintaining health and medicine. 3) there is the power of well-known religious leaders as brand ambassadors for Thibbun Nabawi who seek to introduce the concept of healthy living and the method of treatment by the Prophet

Abstract

Performances of the Qur’an that appear irrelevant to authoritative interpretation discourses, such as the practise of QS. Yūsuf: 4 by a number of Tiktok users, can occasionally be found on social media. This qualitative study employs a field research design to examine these trends by observing and interviewing five Tiktok users as data sources. The researcher describes how Tiktok users practise QS. Yūsuf/12: 4 and investigates its relationship with the function of the verse’s meaning, as well as analyses the motives and sources of their behaviour using the Qur’an Reception approach. According to the findings of the study, Tiktok users perceive QS. Yūsuf/12: 4 functionally with various practises and utilising a variety of media to obtain submission, obedience, appreciation, and even love from the party he desires. This motivation stems from their understanding of the meaning of the phrase “lī sājidīn” in the verse. They claim that such acceptance refers to various interpretive sources as well as formal and informal teachers. Despite the fact that there is a semantic correlation between practise and the meaning of the verse, the intent, purpose, and message of the Prophet Yusuf's story are not represented in their practise. The rise of social media information has influenced this phenomenon, reinforcing the lack of interpretation literacy. The performance of social media users who are dominated by simplistic theological readings must be coloured by strengthening interpretation literacy and authoritative sources so that the dimension of worship in practising the Qur’an is more scientific and can be developed professionally

Abstract

Islamic spirituality and the philanthropic spirit of society cannot be viewed as generic and instantaneous. The purpose of this article is to explore the factors that shape the intrinsic motivation of the millennial generation in carrying out philanthropic activities. This article is written using qualitative methods using data obtained from related literature. The data used as analysis material is in the form of secondary data obtained from previous studies, journals, and reports from related institutions such as Charities Aid Foundation and Badan Amil Zakat Nasional RI. The data obtained are analyzed by content analysis methods, at this stage the content under study is interpreted with a focal point on the meaning in accordance with the purpose of the study. The findings of this study show that the high motivation of Muslim millennial philanthropy is driven by the motivation that arises in each of them. Philanthropic activities among Muslim millennials, in addition to being a form of piety, are also a criticism of philanthropic activities so far. The limitation of this study lies in the type of data used, namely secondary data so that it has not been able to describe the state of the millennial generation. Therefore, further analysis using primary data is needed to obtain more accurate results.

Abstract

The interaction between coffee shops and Muslims has led to studies on history, philology, symbolic interaction, and pluralism. Although research on coffee shops and Muslims has emerged, there is still no one who looks at it from the perspective of religioscapes. This study aims to examine the interaction of santri in public spaces and how the impact is caused from the perspective of religioscapes. This research uses Spradley's ethnographic method, intending to analyze the phenomenon of santribehavior in coffee shops in detail. Researchers become part (live in) so that they can elaborate on the various meanings of ways of thinking and behaving in understanding human clumps. Claudia Seise's concept of Religioscapes is used as an analytical method in describing the religious state of santri in Warung Kopi Yogyakarta. This research shows that religious practices that occur in secular places, including the recitation of shalawat burdah and the recitation of yellow books on the themes of fiqh, nahwu, and tasawwufthat are routinely carried out by santri, can influence other individuals, especially from non-santri, resulting in religion in secularcapes. Coffee shops as places that are initially neutral/secular become spaces for certain religious practices, which we call religion in secularscapes. This research implies that santri can form new religious spaces, or new religioscapes in secular places, where neutral spaces become sacred and religioscapes of this model do not have the main authority, but have diffuse authority.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the relationship between fiqh learning and the understanding of conservatism that develops in Islamic higher education (PTI) by exploring the fiqh learning pattern of young hijrah students in Kendari city.  Their fiqh learning patterns were analyzed using the Living Fiqh approach, so that they could form factors that indicated a relationship between the two variables.  Sources of data in this study are divided into two types, namely primary data and secondary data. The primary data consisted of fiqh materials for youths who moved from IAIN Kendari and UMK. As for the   secondary data in the form of classic and modern fiqh books scattered in the youth movement phenomenon community, literature data in the form of the migration of the younger generation which is in line with the research and responses of fiqh experts were collected through Focus Group Discussions. The results of this study indicate that the sources of understanding of the conservatism of the   young emigrated are more dominant that they get outside the campus, including seasonal recitations at mosques and social media. Based on these findings, the development of fiqh learning in PTI must be able to adapt to digital media. The implications of this research are presented at the end of the research.
