Abstract

Sustainable regional economic development highly depends on the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and the quality of human resources. This study aims to analyze the relationship and influence of the number of MSMEs, MSME labor, MSME turnover, and education level on economic growth in 11 regencies/cities of Jambi Province during the 2019–2024 period. The study employs a quantitative approach using panel data (N = 66). Analysis was conducted through Pearson correlation and panel data regression with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), selected based on the Chow and Hausman tests. Correlation results show that the number of MSMEs, MSME labor, and turnover have a positive relationship with economic growth, while education level has a negative and insignificant relationship. The FEM regression results reveal that all four variables simultaneously have a significant effect. Partially, the number of MSMEs and education level have a positive and significant effect, whereas MSME labor and turnover have a positive but insignificant effect. These findings indicate that regional economic growth is more determined by the expansion of MSMEs and the improvement of human resource quality rather than merely the quantity of labor or turnover. This study recommends a policy shift from quantity-driven growth toward productivity- and quality-driven growth.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of financial flexibility, represented by the Current Ratio (CR), Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), and Net Cash Flow from Operating Activities (CFO), on market valuation, measured by the Enterprise Value-to-Revenue (EV/Revenue) ratio, among manufacturing firms in ASEAN countries. It also investigates the moderating role of firm size. A quantitative research design was employed using balanced panel data comprising 944 manufacturing companies from ASEAN countries over the 2020–2025 period, resulting in 5,664 firm-year observations. Data were extracted from the Refinitiv database and analyzed using panel data regression. The empirical findings indicate that liquidity, proxied by the Current Ratio (CR), does not significantly influence market valuation. In contrast, leverage, represented by the Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), has a positive and significant effect, whereas Net Cash Flow from Operating Activities (CFO) exhibits a significant negative relationship with market valuation. The moderation analysis shows that firm size neither strengthens nor weakens the relationship between financial flexibility and market valuation. These findings suggest that investors in ASEAN manufacturing firms place greater emphasis on financing decisions and future growth prospects than on short-term liquidity or firm size when assessing firm value. This study contributes to the financial flexibility literature by providing empirical evidence using EV/Revenue as a market valuation proxy for ASEAN manufacturing firms during the post-pandemic period.

Abstract

Seaweed tea (Sargassum sp.) is a processed product with the potential to increase the added value of coastal commodities; however, its production is influenced by various factors that need to be analyzed to support business sustainability. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting the production of seaweed tea at Cap Kapai Shok, Lhok Bubon. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires. The study population consisted of all seaweed tea production data recorded during a one-month observation period. A census sampling technique was applied, whereby all available production data, totaling 15 observations, were used as the research sample. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that, simultaneously, raw materials, labor, weather conditions, and supplementary materials had a significant effect on seaweed tea production. Partially, raw materials, labor, and weather conditions significantly affected production, whereas supplementary materials did not have a significant effect. Production improvement efforts should focus on strengthening raw material availability, enhancing labor efficiency, and implementing drying technologies that are adaptive to changing weather conditions in order to support business sustainability.

Abstract

Consumer purchasing interest in beauty products is now influenced by psychological and digital factors such as product innovation, fear of missing out (FOMO), and online customer reviews (OCR). Beauty trends are growing rapidly, with consumers relying heavily on digital platforms before purchasing products. This study aims to examine the influence of product innovation, FOMO, and OCR on purchasing interest in a new beauty product, Somethinc Copy Paste CoverBlur Powder Foundation. This study involved 187 respondents based on purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results show that product innovation, fear of missing out (FOMO), and online customer reviews (OCR) have a positive effect on purchasing interest. These findings suggest that the beauty industry needs to continue to innovate, maximize digital strategies, and build trust through customer reviews to increase consumer purchasing interest.

Abstract

Over the past decade, advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly influenced the evolution of business processes and organizational structures. The growing adoption of these innovations has improved effectiveness, efficiency, and overall performance by combining existing knowledge with new advancements, thereby enhancing AI's capabilities. The present research adopted a descriptive quantitative methodology with a causal approach to investigate AI's effect on employee performance, with an emphasis on the mediating roles of knowledge sharing and employee engagement. The study targeted employees from four state-owned banks in Indonesia—BNI, BRI, BTN, and Mandiri—and gathered data from 200 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted with AMOS 24 software. The findings demonstrated that AI had a positive and significant effect on employee performance, knowledge sharing, and employee engagement. Furthermore, both knowledge sharing and employee engagement significantly and positively affected employee performance. These results underscored the significance of knowledge sharing and employee engagement as key mediators in the correlation between AI and employee performance.

Abstract

This study examines the substance of PT Petrokimia Gresik’s social and environmental responsibility programs as disclosed in its 2024 Sustainability Report. Rather than measuring the mere presence of disclosure items, the study assesses program depth using an output–outcome–impact hierarchy and maps the programs against the GRI Standards and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A qualitative case study with content analysis is employed. The findings show a broad program portfolio covering community empowerment, education, health, employment, occupational safety, competency development, energy efficiency, water management, emission control, waste management, and conservation. However, topical breadth is not matched by evenly distributed substance. Environmental and employment disclosures tend to be more measurable because they are tied to operational compliance in the chemical-fertilizer industry, whereas several social programs remain activity- and output-oriented. Alignment with the GRI and the SDGs indicates goal relevance rather than proven achievement of sustainable development targets. The study concludes that sustainability reporting functions as an instrument of stakeholder management and organizational legitimacy. Its accountability depends on result indicators, not merely on program completeness.

Abstract

Garment is one of the leading products of the textile product industry, which is one of the leading industries in Indonesia. This study aims to look at the condition of the competitiveness of Indonesia's HS 62 (Clothing and Clothing Accessories) processed garment exports to South Korea where the tight garment competition in the world is a challenge for Indonesia's comparative advantage and competitive advantage. The method used by this research is divided into two which are to see the comparative advantage using the calculation of Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Acceleration Ratio (AR) and competitive advantage using the calculation of the Index of Trade Specialization (ISP) and Export Product Dynamic (EPD). The variables used in this study are HS 62 garment exports of Indonesia, Vietnam, and the world to South Korea, exports of all commodities of Indonesia, Vietnam, and the world to South Korea, HS 62 garment imports of Indonesia and Vietnam from South Korea, South Korean garment imports with the research year 2013-2022. The results of this study indicate that Indonesia's HS 62 garments are still unable to capture the global market due to the tight competition in the garment industry and this commodity is still in a retreat position where the product is no longer desired by the market.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of banking risk in People’s Credit Banks (Bank Perkreditan Rakyat/BPR) in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The research aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic variables on banking risk, proxied by total credit disbursement. The study uses panel data from 53 rural banks during 2015–2024 and applies panel data regression with a Random Effects Model (REM). The independent variables include inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG). The findings reveal that interest rates have a negative and significant effect on credit disbursement, indicating that tighter monetary policy reduces lending activity. Conversely, exchange rates and regional economic growth positively and significantly affect lending expansion. Meanwhile, inflation and stock market performance do not significantly influence lending behavior in rural banks. The results imply that macroeconomic stability and regional economic growth are important factors in maintaining the resilience and sustainability of rural banking institutions, particularly in supporting effective financial intermediation in developing economies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) and Self-Efficacy on employee performance with job satisfaction as a mediating variable at Rumah Sakit Islam Purwokerto. This research employed a quantitative approach using purposive sampling, involving 173 non-managerial employees as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results show that self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, while POS and job satisfaction do not significantly affect performance. Both POS and self-efficacy have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction; however, job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between POS or self-efficacy and employee performance. These findings indicate that individual belief in professional competence is the most dominant factor in driving performance in a hospital environment with high service demands. This study provides practical implications for hospital management to prioritize strengthening employee self-efficacy through training and mentoring.
