Abstract

This research was initiated by the low grade on SBdP subject of students at grade IV A SD Cendana Rumbai. Thus, quantum teaching model was implemented in order to increase the students’ learning outcome on SBdP subject at grade IV A SD Cendana Rumbai. Type of this research was classroom action research involving 20 students of grade IV A, consisting of 10 males and 10 females. The research was conducted in December 2020. The data were collected  from the observation sheets  and a test. After applying quantum teaching model, the teachers’ activity increased in Cycle I with the percentage from 70,83% to 75%. In Cycle II, the percentage increased from 79,16% to 83,33%. Then, in Cycle III the percentage reached  91,66%. Besides, the students' activity also increased. In cycle I, the percentageincreased from 70,83% to 75%. In Cycle II, the percentage increased from 79,16% to 83,33%. At last, in Cycle III, the percentage reached 91,66% in two meetings. Thus, this research found that the students’ learning outcomes on SBdP subject increased from 76,54 in Cycle I to 77,5 in Cycle II, and to 81,5 in Cycle III. Based on these results, the increase of the precentage was 1,59% in Cycle I, 2,92% in Cycle II, and 8,23% in Cycle III. To sum up, implementing quantum teaching model increased students’ learning outcomes on SBdP subject at grade IV A SD Cendana Rumbai.

Abstract

The 21st century is a globalization era in which humans are required to have 21st-century skills, including critical thinking skills and scientific literacy in order to solve problems and make the right decisions. Both skills must be prepared, including biology education students. Several research reports have shown low levels of both skills in biology students. The solution that can overcome these problems is to apply learning following the demands of the 21st century, student-centered collaboration. This study aims to analyze the effect of Project-Based Learning with the Peer Instruction Flipped Type Flipped Classroom design on critical thinking skills and scientific literacy. The subjects of this research were Biology Education students of IKIP Budi Utomo Malang. There were two classes: Class A, which implemented project-based learning with the design of the Flipped Classroom, Peer Instruction Flipped, Experiment, and Class B, which applied the Flipped Classroom with the Peer Instruction Flipped Type. The research instrument was in the form of pretest-posttest questions, critical thinking skills, and scientific literacy. Data analysis of the total value of each strategy using paired t-test. The results showed that the Flipped Classroom Peer Instruction Flipped Type in improving thinking skills and scientific literacy.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a basal readers method with Big Book media for educators and first grade students which was valid, practical, and effective. The development process was carried out based on Borg & Gill model which emphasized the context of needs (educators and students) so that a textbook for early reading skills could be produced through Big Book media based Basal Readers method. The results of the validity test, which was obtained from the validation of content, language, presentation, graphics, found that the total percentage was 93.10% with Very Valid category. Then, the results of the questionnaire revealed that the percentage of the teacher's response was 90.25% and for the students’ responses was 87.22% while the effectiveness of early reading based on the t-test showed that the value of t count > t table = 5.458 > 2.414. It was concluded that the textbook with big book media based basal readers method was feasible to be used in early reading at the lower grades of elementary school.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of context-based and creativity-based materials at grade V SD Negeri Pangkalan in order to support the development of materials to increase students’ learning outcome. This research was development research consisting of ten steps. The needs analysis was conducted based on teachers’ and students’ perceptions carried out on 21 students at the 5th grade as the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The data were collected through a questionnaire and a test of students’ learning outcomes. The needs analysis consisted of four aspects: content, linguistics, presentation, and graphic. This study revealed that 80.9% students who were taught through Context-based and Creativity-based materials achieved the learning completeness. Meanwhile, in the control class, only 60% student achieved the learning completeness. Thus, Context-based and Creativity-based materials were effective to improve the students’ scientific literacy.

Abstract

This research was aimed to find out students’ difficulties of on understanding analytical exposition texts. This was descriptive quantitative research. The population of this research was the second-year students at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru and one class at the second grade was chosen as the sample by using clustering-random-sampling. This research utilized a reading test and a  questionnaire as the instruments. The results of this research revealed that students faced several difficulties to understand analytical exposition texts based on 8 indicators, namely finding the main idea, finding factual information, finding references and inferences, finding vocabulary, identifying the social function, identifying the generic structure, and identifying language features of the analytical exposition text. Moreover, it was found that students had difficulties in identifying the social function (56%) which was categorized as high, in identifying the generic structure (54%) which was categorized as medium, and  in the language features of the text (54%) which was categorized as medium. Then, data from the questionnaire showed that students had problems in understanding the text, in reading interest, and the lack of material review. Thus, it was concluded that the second-year students at SMA Negeri 9 Pekanbaru had difficulties on reading analytical exposition text. It was recommended for the students to learn and practice more about analytical exposition text. Then, it was suggested for English teachers to give more detailed explanation and exercises about analytical exposition text.

Abstract

This research and development aimed to produce descriptive text reading materials based on constructivism approach. This research was conducted through the following procedures: 1) analyzing needs; 2) designing the product; 3) developing the initial product; 4) conducting a limited trial; 5) revising the product; 6) conducting a trial on a large scale; and 7) producting the product (a prototype). The instrument in this research was a questionnaire addressed to experts, users (Bahasa Indonesia teachers), and audience (students at grade VII SMP/MTs). Besides, a cloze test was also utilized to measure the readability of descriptive texts and the main narration of the learning materials. The development of the materials was carried out based on 5 phases constructivism by Needham. The product trial was carried out grade VII junior high schools in Kabupaten Lingga, Kepulauan Riau province which was not exposed to the Covid-19. This study concluded that the developed learning materials was feasible for reading descriptive text materials; it was expected that this materials provided a good contribution to the development of science in the field of education.

Abstract

To improve students learning outcomes in English lessons at third grade level B on material report text throughcooperative learning strategy type jigsaw in SMP N 4 Tambang in 2016. The purpose of this study is to improvelearning English in the third grade level B on material report text through cooperative learning strategy typejigsaw in SMP N Tambang in 2016. The methode of this research is action research in 2 cycles. The subject ofthis research is students third grade of level B in SMPN 4 Tambang amount 25 students. This research usingtechnique test, questionare, and observation. The rank mark of this test is 1 – 100. Techique data analysis used isusing technique calculate the average value of students learning outcomes, percentage of student mastery score,and percentage of students’ completeness score. The results of this study indicate there is an increase learningoutcomes by applying cooperative learning strategies type jigsaw with the following results. There is an increasein student learning outcomes, which in the initial test average student learning outcomes is 44,40 in the firstcycle increased to 61,12 then in second cycle increase become 71,2., there are increase of mastery students.Where in the initial test the number of students who complete only 0 % increased 76 % in cycle I then increasedagain to 84 % in cycle II there is a decrease in the number of the students who are not complete, where in theinitial test the number of unfinished students reached 100 % in the first cycle to 24 % then in cycle II decreasedagain to 16 % with other only 4 students get the value of 50 and more 21 get the value of 60 and above 60.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the parenting styles applied by parents to motivate their children in online learn in Desa Kalipucang Wetan Jepara. This research explained factors that motivated children in family parenting in Desa Kalipucang Wetan Jepara and the form of children’s motivation in family parenting in Desa Kalipucang Wetan Jepara. This research discussed the parents’ parenting styles and its implications for children’s motivation in online learning in. Parenting styles referred to the parental control to provide care for children; in this case, parents educated and guided the child’s personality as well as built knowledge so that the child could grow up according to his developmental age. There were four types of parenting, including permissive, democratic, authoritative, and neglective parenting. Family learning environment was a learning environment that greatly affected the children’s pattern of life. Meanwhile, learning motivation was an encouragement from inside and outside to keep learning so that someone, especially elementary school students, could achieve maximum learning outcomes as a result of high enthusiasm or motivation to learn. Positive parenting would provide a high motivation for children to learn.

Abstract

Teenagers studying at university, known as college students, have the responsibility for themselves; they are demanded to be independent in academic activities as well as to build the identity achievement by searching for information through exploration with sufficient intensity in various fields. After collecting adequate information, they need to make choices (commitment) to the field that suits thei interests and abilities. Based on a discussion conducted in the class, it was revealed that some students felt unsuitable with the study program they took; they did not know the career they would pursue while they were already in the third and fourth semesters. This was survey research with a quantitative approach. This study aimed to obtain an objective description of the Students’ Employment Identity Status at the Public Health Education FKIP Universitas Riau. The samples of this study were taken randomly from a population of 104 students. Data on the students’ (adolescents) identity status were collected through a questionnaire. Then, the data were analyzed by using descriptive statistical analysis utilizing SPSS. The results of the study found that only 30.77% of students reached the achievement status while 42.31% of the students were at the level of moratorium status. In addition, 15.38% of the students at the level of Forclusure identity status and 11.54% of them were at the level of diffusion status.

Abstract

This Covid outbreak greatly affects the education that supports the 4.0 revolution era by bringing changes in learning in Indonesia. Teachers conduct distance learning (PJJ) through Google Meet as an alternative provided by the principal in improving learning in the classroom. Increasing the teachers’ ability is inseparable from the role of a school principal by providing various trainings that are able to be followed by teachers. This study used the action research method using 2 cycles of enforcement involving 11 teachers. The results of the research showed that the score on the teachers’ ability to make applications was 63 meaning that the level of success was quite good, while in cycle II, the average score increased to 80 with good category. Furthermore, the average score of the teacher's ability to implement google meet in learning in cycle I was 65 with good category and it increased in Cycle II to 80.5 with a good category. Thus, it was concluded that the teacehrs’ ability increased after holding the training.
