Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of independent character by looking at it from a scouting perspective. This research explains how scouting and Hisbul Wathan explain the idea of independent character. A qualitative approach was used to describe this study by taking a cross-case study type with the study locus in two different institutions that implement the character of independence through scouting education. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data condensation, data presentation, and conclusions. This research reveals that the concept of independent character based on scouting grows together with the education and routine training of Hizbul Wathan and Scouts. The thoughts of KH. Ahmad Dahlan inspired the idea of independence in Hizbul Wathan. Ahmad Dahlan is a responsible, skilled, independent and disciplined human being. The concept of independence in Scouting follows up on the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Regulation Number 23 of 2015 concerning the Development of Character. The limitation of this research is that it focuses on scouting to explain the concept of independence. Meanwhile, originality lies in the scouting movement as an independent character education concept.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of metacognitive strategies on critical thinking skills and learner autonomy in argumentative writing among students in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (Mambaus Sholihin Gresik, Amanatul Ummah Mojokerto, Al-Amin Prenduan Madura, and Al-Rosyid Bojonegoro). This study uses mixed methods; the research integrated quantitative data from pre-tests and post-tests with qualitative insights from interviews, questionnaires, and observations to evaluate the strategies' effectiveness. Qualitative findings revealed that applying metacognitive strategies in a four-week argumentative writing module involving goal setting, monitoring, and reflection effectively improved students' critical thinking skills, independence, and writing abilities in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. Quantitative results indicated that metacognitive strategies significantly enhanced students' abilities to construct coherent arguments and manage the writing process independently (F = 1.540, Sig. = 0.014). However, the overall impact on critical thinking skills and learner autonomy was not statistically significant. Theoretically, the findings confirm that metacognitive strategies enhance analytical and evaluation skills, emphasise the need for contextual adjustments, support the role of peer feedback in boosting metacognitive awareness, and underscore the value of integrating local values to enhance student motivation and independence. Future research should explore the long-term effects, involve more boarding schools, and consider contextual factors such as teacher roles and integration into the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

The right learning strategy provides benefits in mastery of learning, allowing students to collaborate and interact in implementing and creating learning projects. Through Ubiquitous Project Based Learning (UPjBL), Instructional Design fully contributes to achieving optimal learning objectives for students. This study aims to develop UPjBL Learning Design and determine the feasibility of the results. The development method for education uses the ADDIE development model stages. The data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a validation assessment sheet and a closed question instrument in the form of a five-point Likert scale. The development procedure is done by analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The study found that the Ubiquitous Project Based Learning (UPjBL) learning design is valid and feasible. It is known that the product developed has a feasibility value of 4.5 which means that the product is included in the extraordinary category or is very possible to use in the learning process. The combination of Ubiquitous learning and Project-based learning has a UPjBL learning model based on the Constructivist approach. This approach emphasizes that the learning process is centred on students by constructing knowledge obtained contextually. The lecture program units and teaching materials for Information and Communication Technology with primary computer material are adjusted to the curriculum and characteristics of students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Google Sites-based learning media called ATM-KU (Praiseworthy Morals Building Noble Morals) for grade II elementary school students in Islamic religious education. Google sites-based learning media ATM-KU aims to improve moral understanding in a fun and interactive way, addressing the challenge of teaching morals to primary school students, which is often considered boring. By utilising Google Sites, it is hoped that students will be more interested and actively involved in the learning process. The primary goal is to create a compelling and exciting learning medium to increase students' interest and understanding of morals in Islamic Religious Education. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) model. Literature studies and observations are conducted in the analysis stage to understand students' needs. An attractive and child-friendly user interface, features, and interactions are developed at the design stage. In the development stage, content and features are created according to the design, followed by initial testing. During implementation, Google Sites is used in the classroom learning process. At the evaluation stage, student responses are collected through questionnaires to assess the effectiveness of the media. The results show that ATM-KU effectively increases students' interest in Islamic Religious Education, especially in the material "Let's Have a Commendable Character!" Students responded positively to this media. However, the research is limited to one class, indicating the need for broader implementation. These findings demonstrate the originality of combining Google Sites technology with interactive methods for teaching morals.

Abstract

This research aims to explain how students' problem solving abilities differ using project-based learning strategies in online discussion forums and conventional learning. It focuses on how problem-solving abilities differ between low- and high-independent learning students. The interaction of learning strategies and independent learning will also discuss the impact on problem-solving skills. In this research, a quantitative approach was used, with a quasi-experimental approach, namely a nonequivalent control group design. The population of the study was 140 students. The number of samples involved was 71 people. Data collection techniques use self-regulated learning questionnaire instruments and problem solving test instruments. The data analysis technique uses two-way 2 x 2 analysis of variance (Anova). The research results show that students who use the PjBL learning strategy in online discussion forums have different problem-solving abilities than those who use conventional learning methods. Students who use the PjBL learning method in online discussion forums are better than students who use conventional learning methods. The problem solving abilities of students with low and high self-regulated learning are different. Students with high self-regulated learning have better problem solving skills than students with low self-regulated learning. There is a relationship between self-regulated learning strategies and problem solving abilities. This shows that PjBL learning strategy variables influence problem solving skills in online discussion forums and independent learning. This research can be a valuable alternative to support student learning in higher education by utilizing technology. Educators also need to strengthen students' self-regulated learning to maximize learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and develop Islamic education rooted in local culture among the fishing community on the North Coast of Gresik. The research method used is a qualitative approach with an ethnographic type. The data collection techniques include participant observation, in-depth interviews and documentation studies. This study adopts the taxonomic analysis developed by Spradley, which provides for taxonomic, semantic, componential, and cultural theme analyses. The data validation technique uses triangulation. Research findings show that constructing Islamic values ??with local traditions in education among fishing communities can strengthen their religious and cultural identity and enrich their educational experience. This research also found that active participation and awareness of the fishing community regarding the urgency of Islamic education can increase their involvement in the learning process. This research argues that an Islamic education approach based on local culture will be able to encourage strengthening the relationship between the younger generation and the traditions and values ??inherited from their ancestors. The limitation of this research is that it does not yet explain the challenges of the digital revolution in the local cultural context. The main contribution of this research is to provide a theoretical and practical basis for the development of Islamic education that is more inclusive and relevant to the local social and cultural context by emphasizing local wisdom as a source of strength and sustainability of Islamic education.

Abstract

This research explores contextual factors and operational dynamics of implementing the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) at several State Islamic Universities in Indonesia, namely Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, North Sumatra State Islamic University (UINSU), State Islamic University (UIN) Sjech M Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi, Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary State Islamic University (UIN) Padangsidimpuan, and State Islamic College (STAIN) Mandailing Natal. This type of research is qualitative with a multi-case study approach. Data collection includes documentation, field notes about process dynamics, observations and interviews with the Head of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) and Focus Group Discussions with stakeholders such as study program managers, lecturers, students, alumni and university auditors. The validity of the data is ensured through reliability checks, triangulation, member checking, and audit trails. The research results show that in-case analysis examines contextual factors and operational dynamics that are unique to each institution. Various universities are exploring variations in adherence to Total Quality Management (TQM) principles. UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta's transition to a paperless system through the SIQA application is an example of TQM principles by increasing efficiency and data management in the Internal Quality Audit (AMI) process. UIN Sjech M. Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi faces challenges in auditor capacity and role clarity, requiring organizational adaptation to increase AMI's effectiveness. Overall, this research contributes to the academic discourse regarding internal audit quality and underlines the importance of systems theory and organizational change theory in improving educational quality assurance practices in State Islamic Universities and Colleges.

Abstract

The book Ta'lim Muta'allim by Sheikh Imam Al-Zarnuji contains life guidelines for seeking practical knowledge and mardhatillah. This research aims to develop the discipline of counselling based on Islamic values ??and describe and analyze the construction of counselling in the book Ta'lim Muta'allim. This research uses a qualitative approach with an eclectic type of hermeneutics to understand the text in depth and make correct articulations to capture and interpret the meaning of the book Ta'lim Muta'allim. Primary data includes an analysis of the book Ta'lim Muta'allim by Sheikh Imam Al-Zarnuji. In contrast, additional data was obtained through interviews and observations at Islamic boarding schools that use and teach the book Ta'lim Muta'allim. The validity used includes triangulation, intersubjective validation, and peer review. Eclectic hermeneutic analysis is carried out in several stages, namely the verstehen (understanding) stage, grammatical interpretation and psychological interpretation stage, integration of text and context stage, truth relativism stage, wirkungsgeschichte (awareness) stage, bildung stage and critical reflection stage. Ta'lim Muta'allim's counselling construction presents a form of counselling based on Islamic values ??that meets the postulates of scientific discipline rules, namely internal coherence, conformity with reality and functionality when applied theoretically and practically. This research has realized counselling constructions such as the basic philosophy of counselling, main concepts of counselling, goals of counselling, counselling relationships and mechanisms for change in Ta'lim Muta'allim counselling.
