Abstract

Physical activity plays an important role in controlling blood glucose level and reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with diabetes. COVID-19 pandemic causes movement restrictions that can affect physical activity in patients with diabetes. This review aimed to describe the physical activity of patients with diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic. A scoping review of three journal databases including PubMed, SCOPUS, and ScienceDirect was conducted to locate articles that reported physical activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Articles are selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the flowchart of the PRISMA-ScR. There were 11 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that during the COVID-19 pandemic there was a change in the level, type, and place of physical activity in patients with diabetes. The level of physical activity of patients varies with the majority of research showing a decrease in physical activity levels. While the type and place of physical activity turn into physical activity that can be done at home. This review recommended that facilitation should be implemented to increase the motivation and awareness to perform physical activities. Abstract

As we have seen during the times, the prevalence of COVID-19 is going to be increased worldwide. A total of 183,560,151 confirmed cases of COVID-19 including 3,978,581 deaths was reported. This data surprised all healthcare professionals such as nurses working in the hospital and primary care in the community. As the consequence, a call for massive intervention is urgently needed particularly in Indonesia. This can be achieved by optimizing health promotion in the community, opening research grants for nurses, recruiting nursing volunteers, and coordinating with the government along with stakeholders in the healthcare services. In addition to that, a scientific publication focusing on innovative care is also essential to support the ongoing health policy. We finally hope, this pandemic will end soon. However, we must be ready to live with COVID-19 as they will always stay with us, forever.

Abstract

Social media has positive and negative impacts on human life. Even though negative impacts have been identified, positive impacts are rarely studied in the literature. The identification of positive impacts will be useful for preventing health issues among social media users. Therefore, the study is intended to investigate the psychological well-being status of the social media population. The study used a cross-sectional design with a purposive sampling method. The analysis used structural equational modeling to answer the research question of the study. The results showed the psychological well-being of social media users is at normal levels with mild stress. The influencing factors influencing the finding are sex and education. Health promotion is fundamental to improving the outcomes and vice versa, decreasing the risk factors of mental disorders. Interventional studies are needed to prevent distress in the future. Abstract

The prevalence of children experiencing COVID-19 infection is increased worldwide. This situation alarmed pediatric nurses to work more closely with the group of patients. Moreover, children’s parents also suffered health issues due to the pandemic. Understanding of implementation theory of Human Caring will help the nurses cope with the problem. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the perception between nurses and parents about nurses' caring behavior in hospitals. The study used a mixed method design integrating purposive sampling techniques. The instrument was the CNPI-70 consists of 70 items and 10 carative factors/subscales based on Watson's Theory of Caring. The study documented that the nurse’s perception is lower than the parent’s perception. It is important to increase the knowledge related to the perception through health education, routine training along with intensive discussion in Hospital. Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic impacts the clinical nurses working in hospitals. The pandemic challenged them to deal with unfamiliar problems such as heavy workloads and adaptation to using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). When left untreated, the situation will increase the stress among nurses. Due to this reason, the objective of the study is to evaluate the impact of pandemic health, safety, workload, and stress among nurses in a hospital. The study used descriptive design and used observational methods to reach the research objective. The data collection process was started from August 2020 to October 2020. A total of 144 nurses were engaged during the study. Several instruments were used to gain data from the participants. Regression analysis was used for hypothesis testing. The finding indicated that results of this study indicate that OHS, workload, and work stress simultaneously have a significant positive effect on the nurses’ performance (p < 0.05). This research suggests that health policymakers should provide psychological support for nurses experiencing stress when delivering care. Abstract

Indonesia tends to be at a high risk of natural disasters, non-natural disasters, and social disasters. To minimize disaster impact, planning and management of finances are crucial. Unfortunately, a nursing study discussing the financial model during a disaster is lacking in the literature. The study aims to develop a financial planning model integrating Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center in Magelang, Indonesia. An observational approach was involved in the study design. The member of One Muhammadiyah One Response (OMOR) in several districts was engaged. A checklist and closed-ended questions were used for the data collection process. The study established a financial planning model that can be helpful for community nurses working in disaster areas. Further study is required to evaluate the collaboration with other healthcare professionals in disaster preparedness. Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV 2). The most common manifestations of COVID-19 include fever > 37.5˚C, cough, flu, anosmia, and respiratory distress—the virus cause Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), which quickly turns into respiratory failure. Therefore COVID-19 patients with ARDS require intensive care in a hospital with oxygen support. One type of oxygen therapy used to treat COVID-19 with ARDS is a High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) administration. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of HFNC therapy in COVID-19 patients with ARDS. This study used a literature review research design. Sources of literature were carried out on Google Scholar, Science Direct, Pubmed, and Sage Journal, with the final results obtained from eight reviewed articles. The results of the eight articles stated that using HFNC positively impacted the decreased need for mechanical ventilation and increased gas exchange of COVID-19 patients with ARDS. Abstract

The use of CAM in Indonesia is relatively high, but this method is still considered a second-class treatment. There are still many modern medical practitioners who have not accepted this method as a method of treatment that can be accounted for. This article attempts to explain why complementary-alternative medicine continues to develop and why it needs to be widely proposed as a treatment method of choice, in addition to modern medical treatment. Conventional medical medicine or modern medicine and complementary-alternative medicine have different philosophical foundations, so imposing an assessment using biomedical methods to prove the efficacy of CAM seems less appropriate. Suppose evidence of efficacy is required for CAM to be accepted. In that case, it seems that research methods with qualitative and anthropological approaches should be chosen that provide more space for individual experiences in the use of CAM.
