Abstract

This article investigates linguistic variance in narrating the same stories in different locations in the Quran. The research deals with repeating some scenes in the Qur’anic stories in multiple places in the Holy Qur’an, with the difference in the linguistic expression methods of the exact scene in its different locations, as well as the impact of the Qur’anic context on this difference. The study discusses the story of Abraham as a model for practice. The first topic was devoted to the theoretical study that sheds light on some crucial issues related to research. The second topic was devoted to the applied study in two parts. The conclusion presented the most important findings of the investigation, including that the Qur’anic stories do not have repetition in their literal sense. However, the Qur’an gives each place a part of the story according to what the context requires. The scene occurs in more than one location of the Qur’an. Yet, it is narrated in every place in a different linguistic performance in harmony with the Qur’anic context, represented in the present article’s evidence surrounding the Qur’anic story. Study findings help draw the attention of Arabic language learners to an interesting linguistic phenomenon in the Qur’anic levels and the function it serves in the story.

Abstract

The Arabic language is characterized by the diversity of semantics of its words, and the mastery of these semantics is a decisive factor in understanding Arabic speech. The research aimed to show the effect of the semantics of pronunciation in understanding speech. This aim was achieved by conducting an application study that extrapolates the sayings of contemporary interpreters about clauses of the verse of prohibition in Surat An-Nisa, which talk about the banning of marriage because of breastfeeding. This topic was chosen to conduct the application study on it due to its unique advantage: the two semantics of exact pronunciation and the three semantics of the non-explicit pronunciation in one clause of the same verse. A complete extrapolation of the sayings mentioned in the most significant contemporary interpretations of the Holy Qur’an about the understanding of the studied verse was conducted to determine the effect of the semantics of pronunciation in controlling the meanings of the words and to show how these semantics share the express of the desired purpose. Both analytical and critical methods were assumed. The results confirmed the importance of understanding the semantics of pronunciation in interpreting the noble verse. Through this understanding, it was possible to give preference between the sayings of the interpreters. The results also showed differences between the semantics of pronunciation regarding the strength and clarity of their expression. Moreover, they clarified the importance of the context in understanding the semantics and eliciting judgments. Because of the semantics of pronunciation in understanding the meanings of the texts, it is recommended to include them in Arabic language teaching curricula and to train learners on how to use and extract them from texts.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss high school (MA) Arabic language books and analyze them in light of the Genre-based Approach (GBA) perspective. This learning approach began to draw scholarly attention after issuing the Decree of Minister of Religious Affairs (KMA) No. 183 of 2019 by the Indonesian  Ministry of Religious Affairs concerning the Arabic Language Education (PBA) curriculum. Academic research on GBA and Arabic language education has begun to be widely conducted, such as that of Hasanah (2022), which examined the implementation of Systemic Functional Linguistics' Genre-Based Approach (SFL-GBA) for PBA students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Scholars have yet to devote a specific analysis of MA Arabic books using a genre-based approach. This study found that (a) those books encompass only four types of text (descriptive, recount, exposition, and procedure text), far less than those presented in English and Indonesian books; and (b) contain several stages of a genre-based approach, modeling, joint construction, and independent construction, though implicitly stated.

Abstract

The Arabic language's prepositions (huruf al-jarr) are among the letters specific to nouns, and they are most likely 20 letters. The present research deals with the ‘huruf al-jarr’ (prepositions) used in Arabic sentences regarding their addition and deletion from some Arabic sentences assuming the hidden or implied words. Also, the research deals with attaching the prepositions to the infinitives (al-afaal al-mujarradah) and its impact on the meaning and significance. Moreover, according to the objectives, the research will address the issue of adding the ‘huruf al-jarr,' the purpose behind the addition, the places from where the ‘huruf al-jarr’ is deleted, how the deleted item will be assumed and what is the effect of attaching these prepositions to the infinitives in some sentences of the Arabic language. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach as it is appropriate for the study. The study's main results reveal that the actual particle (al-Harf al-Asli) must produce a new meaning that did not exist before its addition to the sentence. In contrast, the other particle (al-harf al-zaaid) only strengthens the general meaning of the sentence without producing a new meaning. Additionally, the actual particle and its associated noun must be related to an "aamil" to complete its meaning and deliver its effect to the noun in the genitive case (al-ism al-majroor). In contrast, the other particle does not need an "aamil" relation. Lastly, the actual particle causes the following noun to be in the genitive case, with no other place of declension (al-eraab) for itself or the following words. In contrast, the other particle requires an area of declension (al-eraab).

Abstract

Teaching Arabic and other subject is related to training students' skills which requires the teacher's response when students make mistakes. The goal is to correct and modify behavior. It is better to research the best methods used by teachers in correcting students’ mistakes. This paper prompts an understanding of human nature in remedying errors, such as facial expressions and body language. Also, this paper directs the teacher to use modesty as an advantage. Perhaps it will cause students to be ashamed of their errors without the teachers’ need to speak. The researcher will use a descriptive approach built on describing the phenomenon to be studied and collecting descriptions and information about it to reach results that will help acknowledge the crucial aspects of the best method to guide students and correct their mistakes. Also, extrapolate and track the means and methods by observing this matter. in verifying research, essential steps must be distinguished, attributing the verses in the Quran contained in the study to their places in the Holy Quran and extracting the hadiths from their sources. The results introduce students to the idea of error and explain they are wrong behavior by showing the teacher’s kind and encouraging words to his students and how it helps them to accept the guidance. The teacher should know when to show his anger and kindness and when to re-explain or be silent.

Abstract

This research deals with the problem of scientific terms in the Arabic language. Its first topic briefly deals with some challenges that the Arabic language faces. One of these challenges is the scientific terms, an issue of different aspects. In the second topic, the research deals with the problem of scientific terms in modern Arabic. The most important results of the study are as follows: There are plenty of scientific terms in the Arab linguistic heritage. Scientific terms are an example of the language’s ability to absorb new information. Scientific terms are a civilized linguistic issue. They have a political dimension that requires the cooperation of the countries of the Arab world in its formulation. They have a close connection with the language of university education. Therefore, it is necessary to use Arabic scientific terms in university education courses since they are a tool for knowledge. Their development and growth are linked to the growth and development of knowledge. The formation of the scientific terms in Arabic must be according to the following steps: Translating the term into another Arabic equivalent, derivation, and generation (i.e., introducing a new term that corresponds with the foreign term) or borrowing, which is either verbal Arabization or localization.

Abstract

Andragogy learning is an art of learning approach with an adult-style practice. This approach is for students lacking attention to materials, learning orientation, self-concept, and learning motivation, especially in learning in Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to find the concept of andragogy learning in improving Arabic understanding. The subject is Ngalah Islamic boarding school Pasuruan School, Indonesia by using a qualitative approach with natural methods. The role of the researcher is to plan, collect, analyze and report research results. The data sources of this research were taken from interviews, observations, and documentation with orientation, exploration, and focused study with data analysis techniques: condensation, display, conclusion drawing, and data verification. The validity checking of the data is done with credibility, dependability, and confirmability. Research findings at Ngalah Islamic boarding school pasuruan include: a) orientation to the cultivation of tasawuf values (tariqat) with empirical, intuitive and tazkiyyah methods; b) respect is given in the form of muroqabah, riyadhoh, mujahadah and contemplation; c) learning motivation appears in the form of innovation and seeking wisdom. The learning orientation is relevant to the problem centered and contextual; learning readiness is relevant to autonomous, self-directing, resource, and mental models; and learning motivation is relevant to the value and personal payoff. The implications of andragogy learning at the Ngalah Islamic boarding school are increasing students' understanding of Arabic with an andragogy approach.

Abstract

The issue of contact meaning in communicative learning has received considerable critical attention. Translation and contact meaning are two terms that have enjoyed interpretation in modern language studies. Translation has enternaly been considered a bridge that connects languages and introduces readers to new cultures and knowladge. Translation is a very tricky task of linguistics (Pym,2023). Contact meaning is required for understanding translation, Language contact is the social and linguistic phenomenon by which speakers of different languages (or different dialects of the same language) interact with one another, leading to a transfer of linguistic features (Rodríguez,2019). Language contact is not, of course, a homogeneous phenomenon.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to examine the use of speech acts theory in analyzing Arabic text literature, specifically, Al-Faisal's poetry, to gain a deeper understanding of the speaker's meaning and the beauty of language usage. The study employed speech acts theory, a branch of pragmatics that focuses on how language is utilized to impart information and carry out actions such as making promises, requests, and giving orders. Despite some criticism and questions surrounding the theory, its significance in analyzing text and understanding the speaker's intention and effect on the audience cannot be denied. The research results showed that Al-Faisal's poetry is rich in expressive value and is characterized by linguistic richness and artistic creativity. However, the study concluded that there are creative expressive forms in the Arabic language that do not fit into Searle's classification of illocutionary acts due to their performative nature with double meanings. As a result, the study recommends increasing applied studies on the Arabic text to uncover these expressive forms and enhance our understanding of the language.
