Abstract

Teaching Arabic and other subject is related to training students' skills which requires the teacher's response when students make mistakes. The goal is to correct and modify behavior. It is better to research the best methods used by teachers in correcting students’ mistakes. This paper prompts an understanding of human nature in remedying errors, such as facial expressions and body language. Also, this paper directs the teacher to use modesty as an advantage. Perhaps it will cause students to be ashamed of their errors without the teachers’ need to speak. The researcher will use a descriptive approach built on describing the phenomenon to be studied and collecting descriptions and information about it to reach results that will help acknowledge the crucial aspects of the best method to guide students and correct their mistakes. Also, extrapolate and track the means and methods by observing this matter. in verifying research, essential steps must be distinguished, attributing the verses in the Quran contained in the study to their places in the Holy Quran and extracting the hadiths from their sources. The results introduce students to the idea of error and explain they are wrong behavior by showing the teacher’s kind and encouraging words to his students and how it helps them to accept the guidance. The teacher should know when to show his anger and kindness and when to re-explain or be silent.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the attitudes of Saudi university students towards the usage and effect of Saudi Pidgin Arabic (henceforth SPA) on Saudi society. The study suggests social, cultural, and linguistic consequences of using Pidgin Arabic in Saudi Arabia. Showing these influences and exploring their effect on Saudi society is investigated by analyzing the attitudes of Saudi university students, with a particular emphasis on Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University students. Accordingly, the researcher utilizes the descriptive approach by using a questionnaire distributed to 440 Saudi male and female students at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University. It was shown that the general tendency of the respondents to the Questionnaire is to hold the usage of such reduced contact language in low esteem for its possible harmful effects on the native tongue. They subscribe to the views that call for curbing such use and finding a solution for better communication with migrant workers and those coming in contact with them or even just interacting amongst themselves. This paper concludes that there should be Arabic courses for foreign workers who speak neither Arabic nor English, in order not only to maintain young people’s competence and performance in Standard Arabic, furthermore as a matter for enhancing their cognitive abilities, which are badly needed for competition in a world built on the power of knowledge.

Abstract

The Problem Based Learning method relates learning material to real-world situations to help students understand Arabic material better. A quantitative study with an experimental approach was conducted to determine the effectiveness of using the PBL method in Arabic reading proficiency classes. The one group pretest posttest design was used in this study. The results of the study show that in general, the use of PBL in Research Methodology learning is effective both in terms of the learning process and learning outcomes. However, the research findings show that the use of PBL in learning the Arabic Language Research Methodology Course is less effective for students who have low competency levels, poor learning attitudes, lack of willingness to learn, low learning discipline, and are less active in classroom.

Abstract

Ibnu Khalawayh is considered one of the greatest linguists who contributed to the science of Quranic readings, especially the shazah readings. Among his contributions is the book “Mukhtasar Fi Shawaz il Quran.” The research explains the shazah readings within a grammatical context.  In view of the importance of the phenomenon of omission in the Qur’anic readings, the topic of omission in predicate structures was chosen to reveal their manifestations and aspects. The research  based on the descriptive analytical method concludes that the reason for Ibnu-Khalawayh's lack of fame in grammar was his new grammatical concept. He believed that language is taken by hearing (sama’), not by analogy (qiyas), and the predicate in the actual sentence if it is omitted, the appropriate verb in the sense is estimated, and omission of predicate is either to weaken, strengthen, or limit the event, or for the purpose of its mention before and the increase in shazah reading may be considered omitted in frequent reading, and vice versa. It is expected that this research will be useful to learners of the Arabic language in the context of developing their grammatical distinction and syntactic omission skills, as a modality of intellectual activity that requires the expansion of knowledge through both types of inference, i.e., analogy and induction.

Abstract

In 2001, the European Union (CoE) introduced the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR) to measure the competency and mastery of languages found in Europe and other languages in the world. In the context of Arabic language education, Saudi Arabia was one of the first countries to implement Arabic language proficiency measurements based on CEFR standards, particularly at Umm al-Qura University, Mecca, and Saudi Electronic University. This article aims to gather studies related to Arabic language proficiency based on the CEFR standard. In addition, this article also provides added value by analyzing each study to provide an explicit overview of the studies. To achieve the goal, qualitative methods are used, where library methods and document analysis are practiced. CEFR-related studies and articles will be collected and analyzed using inductive and deductive methods. The analysis of these findings has also found that five main themes have been debated. Among them is the need to establish a proficiency standard in Arabic. There is consensus among some Arabic language experts that the proficiency standard for the Arabic language needs to be established along with other world languages. Apart from that, some experts also think that it is necessary to have indicators of Arabic language proficiency based on CEFR standards. This is considering that this standard has been used in the measurement of proficiency for some other languages of the world.

Abstract

Linguistic competency improvement strategies need to be developed to face challenges. This study aims to analyze Arabic language learning in Islamic universities in Indonesia, focusing on teaching methods, challenges faced, and strategies to improve students' linguistic competence. This study uses a qualitative approach by collecting data through classroom observation, interviews with Arabic teachers, and analysis of related documents in Indonesian Islamic University (UII), State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, State Islamic University (UIN) Yogyakarta, State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga, State University of Malang (UM), Yogyakarta State University (UNY). The results showed that the teaching methods commonly used in Islamic universities in Indonesia are lecture methods, discussion methods, demonstration methods, and problem-solving methods. However, the use of the lecture method is still dominant in the context of Arabic language learning. Challenges faced by students in learning Arabic include the complexity of Arabic grammar, time constraints, lack of resources, and a dense curriculum. Strategies identified include using educational technology in Arabic language learning, teacher training and mentorship, extracurricular programs involving the Arabic language, and an emphasis on developing speaking and writing skills in Arabic.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive approach that studies the impact of linguistic academies and institutions concerned with the Arabic language on both the local and the Arab communities. The boundaries of the study are the linguistic academies in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Algeria, Syria, and other linguistic institutions; it aims to monitor the goals of the academies and institutions and to show their relationship with society, in addition, to highlight the areas of cooperation between them, to present the areas in which community can be served, and to identify the core obstacles facing these academies and institutions in their linguistic mission. Therefore, the research answers an important question: Is there an impact of Arabic linguistic academies and institutions on the local and Arab community? The sample of study adopted by the research was all the Arab academies, the most prominent of which are the Iraqi, Syrian, Jordanian, Egyptian, Saudi, and Algerian Arabic language academies, by tracking their websites and printed books and collecting the topics they published, and have a direct relationship with the local and Arab community. The most important goals of these academies are to preserve the integrity of the Arabic language, to take care of new terms and Arabize them, to establish linguistic issues, to monitor the reality of the Arabic language, and to make linguistic dictionaries. One of the aspects of the relationship between the academies and the community is through carrying out linguistic projects, communicating with it, and holding courses and competitions for it. The research clarified the most significant obstacles that affect this relationship, the most important of which are low financial resources, the rarity of linguistic experts, and media weakness. The research concludes with the need to break the elite control of linguistic academies and institutions and to expand the integration of human potentials that serve the Arabic language so that there are multiple windows of influence and the need to involve segments of society in linguistic thinking, its problems, ways to solve it and to pay attention to computational, psychological, social, political linguistics, by offering courses, programs, and diplomas that assist national plans for human development.
