Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of picture-series media in teaching simple paragraph writing in elementary schools, identify the challenges faced by teachers and students, and analyze its impact on students’ writing abilities. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with the subjects comprising the teacher and third-grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Terpadu Ponorogo. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that picture-series media are used as visual stimuli in the process of writing simple paragraphs. Through the implementation of this media, 19 out of 28 students (67.9%) were able to write sentences according to the picture series, 6 students (21.4%) wrote only one sentence per picture, and 3 students (10.7%) still had difficulty identifying vocabulary. The challenges encountered include a limited understanding of simple story structure, restricted vocabulary, minimal practice in writing single sentences, and variations in students’ concentration and self-confidence. The use of picture-series media has a positive impact on students’ simple paragraph writing skills. This media helps students generate ideas, organize coherent paragraphs, reduce confusion during writing, and enhance motivation and self-confidence. However, its effectiveness strongly depends on the teacher’s role in providing explicit guidance, vocabulary enrichment, repetitive practice, and creating an enjoyable learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the character education model for Generation Alpha at Pondok Pesantren Ishlahul Ma’arif Montong Are Kediri, West Lombok, in the digital era. Generation Alpha, raised alongside rapid technological advancements, faces challenges such as declining social ethics, digital dependency, and unfiltered information exposure. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that the pesantren implements a character education model based on exemplary behavior, habituation of noble character, strengthening of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning), and structured religious activities. This model effectively shapes students to become disciplined, morally upright, and spiritually strong individuals while equipping them with adaptive skills suited to digital-age challenges. The institution successfully integrates traditional Islamic values with modern generational needs in a balanced and holistic manner.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in implementing the muroja’ah method to improve students’ Qur’an memorization quantity at SD Islam Terpadu Fitrah Insani Sungai Bahar. The study is based on the issue of students’ memorization achievements that have not yet met the expected curriculum targets, as well as several challenges such as limited learning time, differences in students’ memorization abilities, and the non-optimal implementation of muroja’ah strategies by teachers. This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that teachers apply various muroja’ah strategies, including daily repetition, paired muroja’ah, classical muroja’ah, and tasmi’ with teachers; however, these strategies are not yet fully systematic or well-structured. Supporting factors include the religious school environment and the motivation of some students, while inhibiting factors consist of limited time allocation, lack of parental involvement at home, and the absence of a standardized muroja’ah guideline. This study is expected to contribute to the development of more effective tahfidz learning strategies and provide valuable input for schools in improving the quality and quantity of students’ Qur’an memorization.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Balfai in the Pancasila Education subject, particularly on the topic of rights and obligations as family and school members, through the use of the literacy tree learning media. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects consisted of 25 students. Data were collected through teacher and student activity observations, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The findings of the study indicate that the use of the literacy tree media successfully increased students’ engagement and participation during learning activities, as well as improved their understanding of the subject matter. Prior to the implementation of the action, student learning mastery was only 40%. This increased to 44% in the first cycle, yet had not met the required mastery criteria. After revisions and improvements implemented in the second cycle, learning mastery significantly increased, reaching more than 80% in accordance with the classical mastery standard. The improvement in learning outcomes was supported by an increase in both teacher and student activity scores, which progressed from the “sufficient” category in the first cycle to the “good” and “very good” categories in the second cycle. Therefore, it can be concluded that the literacy tree learning media is effective in improving learning outcomes in Pancasila Education among fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Balfai.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the numeracy achievement of students at MTs Ishlahul Huda Batu Mekar using the 2025 National Assessment (AN) Report Card data. The focus of the study is the trend of numeracy achievement in each domain and cognitive level, as well as the pedagogical implications for learning development. The method used is descriptive-qualitative content analysis of the average value, change trends, and national and district/city rankings. The results show that numeracy achievement is generally still low (average 42.75–53.68). The Geometry and Data and Uncertainty domains show a significant upward trend, while Algebra and Reasoning Level (L3) experience a decline. These findings indicate the need for more structured pedagogical interventions, especially in algebra and high-level mathematical reasoning skills. This article provides strategic recommendations for improving numeracy based on a higher-order thinking approach, contextual learning, and strengthening numeracy culture in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' learning motivation in the application of the Deep Learning Approach to digestive system material at SDN 2 Golong. The research problem focuses on the need for a learning approach that not only strengthens conceptual understanding but also fosters students' intrinsic motivation. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, with data obtained thru observation, interviews, and documentation of school principals, teachers, and 20 fifth-grade students. The research results show that implementing PM thru the stages of preparation, exploration, application, and reflection is able to create meaningful, conscious, and enjoyable learning experiences. The PM approach has a positive influence on students' learning motivation by increasing active engagement and deeper conceptual understanding. However, challenges were found in the imbalance of participation in group work. More structured teacher intervention, including role distribution, is needed to ensure equal participation. The limitations of this study include the small number of subjects and its qualitative nature, so further research with a larger population and mixed methods is recommended to test the effectiveness of this approach more comprehensively.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of work discipline, competence, and work environment on teacher performance at SMK Negeri 1 Rembang. In this study, the variable of work discipline refers to teacher’s obedience and commitment to the duties and rules applicable in their work environment. Competence is the main requirement of professionalism and is the basic for assesing the quality of teacher performance. The work environment includes internal and external factors that influence the conditions of the workplace environment. This study uses data collection methods to evaluate the influence of these variables on teacher performance at SMK Negeri 1 Rembang. The results show that discipline and work environment have a positive and significant effect, while competence has a negative and insignificant effect on teacher performance at the school.

Abstract

This study focuses on the effect of using audiovisual animation media on fifth-grade students' listening skills in stories at the SPF Unit (Technical Instructional Facility) of Mangasa Public Elementary School in Makassar City. The background of this study stems from the importance of listening as a basic language skill, which remains a challenge for many students due to low narrative recall and lack of concentration during the learning process. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design involving two groups of students. One group was taught using audiovisual animation media, while the other group used conventional learning methods. Data were obtained through a listening skills test in the form of essay questions, then analyzed using statistical tests to determine differences in results between the two groups. The results showed that the use of audiovisual animation media resulted in significant differences in students' listening skills after the treatment. Animation media helped students understand the story content more clearly and maintain concentration during the learning process. Overall, this study concludes that audiovisual animation media is an effective alternative in listening instruction, particularly in creating a more engaging and accessible learning experience for elementary school students. These findings provide practical implications for teachers in selecting relevant learning media and can serve as a reference in developing strategies for delivering material in elementary schools.

Abstract

The low use of writing media causes students to be less enthusiastic in participating in learning activities. This study aims to determine the validity of lift the flap book media in alphabet writing activities for children aged 5–6 years. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Rowntree development model, which includes the stages of Planning, Development, and Evaluation. The research subjects at the evaluation stage consisted of a material expert and a media expert. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, while the data analysis technique was conducted descriptively and quantitatively using a Likert Scale. The results showed that the lift the flap book media was categorized as very valid, as reviewed from aspects of content validity, construct validity, readability validity, visual design, book packaging, font usage, and the aesthetic and neatness of illustrations. Therefore, the lift the flap book media is feasible to be used as a learning medium for alphabet writing for children aged 5–6 years.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the integration of the value of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) in Social Studies (IPS) learning and analyze its impact on the development of elementary school students' social character. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that teachers systematically integrate the value of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) through learning planning, implementation, and assessment. Activities such as group work, discussions, mini-projects, and social simulations provide effective tools for students to practice cooperation, mutual assistance, and sharing tasks. Consequently, students demonstrate improved social character development in the form of empathy, tolerance, responsibility, and the ability to work together in groups. Thus, the integration of the value of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) in Social Studies learning has proven effective in strengthening the social character of elementary school students and is relevant for ongoing implementation in the learning process.
