Abstract

This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of fourth-grade students at SD El-Haqqa Qur’anic School Pekanbaru through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Initial observations showed that students’ critical thinking skills in the IPAS subject were still low, as they tended to rely on teacher explanations without questioning, analyzing, or seeking deeper understanding. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected using teacher and student activity observation sheets as well as tests of critical thinking skills. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills following the implementation of the PBL model. The average initial score of 64.09 increased to 70.90 in Cycle I and further rose to 87.72 in Cycle II. In addition, teacher activity improved from 58.92% in the first meeting of Cycle I to 94.64% in the second meeting of Cycle II, while student activity increased from 59.61% to 96.15% across the same periods. These findings demonstrate that the PBL model effectively enhances students’ critical thinking skills and supports more active, independent, and meaningful learning in IPAS lessons at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of The Power of Two learning strategy on students’ learning outcomes in Pancasila and Civic Education (PPKn) among fourth-grade students at SDN 024 Tarai Bangun. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The samples consisted of two classes: the experimental class that received learning through The Power of Two strategy and the control class that was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.006 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of The Power of Two strategy on learning outcomes. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 82.54, higher than the control class, which was 76.00. The N-Gain score of 0.6177 (medium category) further confirmed that the strategy effectively enhanced students’ cognitive performance. Thus, The Power of Two is proven to improve PPKn learning outcomes by promoting collaboration, active engagement, and critical thinking.

Abstract

Kecanduan game online menjadi fenomena yang semakin meningkat di Indonesia, terutama di kalangan anak-anak, remaja, dan mahasiswa. Aktivitas bermain game yang berlebihan dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif, termasuk gangguan tidur, depresi, masalah psikologis, penurunan prestasi akademik, serta konflik sosial. Salah satu pendekatan konseling yang efektif untuk mengatasi adiksi ini adalah Motivational Interviewing (MI), yaitu metode yang berfokus pada penguatan motivasi internal individu untuk melakukan perubahan perilaku secara sadar dan sukarela. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode literature review untuk menganalisis efektivitas MI dalam menurunkan ketergantungan game online berdasarkan tujuh studi terdahulu. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa MI efektif dalam mengurangi durasi bermain, meningkatkan kontrol diri, serta memperbaiki kesejahteraan psikologis dan kemampuan sosial konseli. Keberhasilan intervensi dipengaruhi oleh kualitas konselor, karakteristik konseli, dukungan lingkungan, serta integrasi dengan pendekatan lain seperti Regulatory Focus Theory dan promosi kesehatan. Secara keseluruhan, MI tidak hanya menurunkan perilaku bermain game secara berlebihan, tetapi juga menumbuhkan kesadaran, tanggung jawab, dan motivasi internal konseli, sehingga perubahan yang terjadi lebih berkelanjutan dan berdampak positif pada kehidupan sehari-hari.

Abstract

VAKT-based literacy toolkits (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Tactile) are believed tobe effective in improving the reading and writing skills of lower-grade students.This article presents a systematic literature review of 25 national and internationalarticles published between 2015 and 2025 related to basic literacy and theimplementation of VAKT. The findings indicate that the VAKT approach canenhance letter recognition, reading comprehension, and early writing skillsthrough multisensory experiences. Moreover, the use of a VAKT toolkit facilitatesteachers in designing engaging lessons and supporting student motivation. Thisarticle also provides recommendations for developing VAKT toolkits, includingstrategies for implementation in lower-grade classrooms. These findings areexpected to serve as a reference for teachers and educational media developersin creating innovative and effective literacy methods.

Abstract

The management of Zakat, Infaq, and Sadaqah (ZIS) at the Baznas of Jambi Province continues to face several structural and operational challenges, including low fundraising performance, limited public awareness in channeling zakat through official institutions, and the absence of regional regulations supporting optimal zakat governance. Moreover, concerns about institutional transparency and accountability further hinder effective ZIS distribution. This study aims to analyze these challenges and propose optimization strategies for ZIS management through the lens of Maqashid Sharia. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis, and were examined using reduction, presentation, and verification techniques, supported by source triangulation to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that Baznas Jambi has implemented several strategic initiatives, such as enhanced public outreach, digitalization of zakat collection systems, strengthened institutional partnerships, and economic empowerment programs for mustahik through productive zakat schemes. The integration of Maqashid Sharia principles, particularly hifz al-mal (protection of wealth) and hifz al-nafs (protection of life), has proven essential in strengthening policy direction and fostering effective, transparent, and socially impactful ZIS governance. Thus, the Maqashid Sharia framework serves as a foundational approach for achieving sustainable optimization of ZIS management.

Abstract

This study examines the interest of Muslim lecturers at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, Universitas Muslim Indonesia, in giving infaq through online payment platforms within the context of increasing digitalization in Islamic philanthropy. Despite the availability and convenience of digital payment systems such as QRIS, e-wallets, and mobile banking, the extent to which these technologies are understood and utilized by academic professionals remains underexplored. The research aims to determine both the level of knowledge and the actual interest of lecturers in conducting infaq digitally. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach, using interviews and documentation for data collection, followed by data reduction, presentation, and conclusion-drawing to derive findings. Five lecturers were interviewed as key informants. The results indicate that lecturers generally possess sufficient knowledge regarding online infaq mechanisms and acknowledge the ease and practicality offered by digital platforms. However, variations were observed in terms of personal trust and confidence in digital transactions, where some lecturers actively use online payment for infaq, while others express reservations concerning reliability, transparency, and administrative deductions. Overall, the study concludes that online infaq represents a relevant and beneficial innovation aligned with contemporary technological advancements, yet its adoption still depends on individual understanding and trust. The findings provide insights for Islamic philanthropic institutions to enhance socialization, transparency, and digital literacy initiatives among potential users, particularly within academic environments.

bagi siswa sekolah dasar. Namun, beberapa siswa kelas III di SDN 1 Ciporang menunjukkan hambatan dalam mengenali huruf, membaca permulaan, mengeja, serta menulis kata sederhana. Hambatan tersebut mengarah pada indikasi disleksia yang dapat mengganggu perkembangan literasi siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, penerapan, dan evaluasi program bimbingan membaca dan menulis yang diberikan kepada siswa dengan indikasi disleksia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Tiga siswa dengan indikasi disleksia, wali kelas, dan kepala sekolah menjadi subjek penelitian. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan program dilakukan melalui identifikasi awal kemampuan siswa dan analisis kebutuhan belajar. Program diterapkan secara individual dan terstruktur dengan fokus pada latihan pengenalan huruf, membaca suku kata, dan menulis dasar. Evaluasi menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kemampuan membaca perlahan, berkurangnya kesalahan huruf terbalik, serta meningkatnya fokus dan kepercayaan diri siswa, meskipun perkembangan tiap siswa berbeda. Program bimbingan ini membantu meningkatkan kemampuan literasi siswa dengan indikasi disleksia.

Abstract

This study examines the tradition of mandi kaek within the Malay Jambi community in Sumay District, Tebo Regency, and how this cultural practice is viewed from the perspective of Islamic law. The research problem lies in the continued strong implementation of this tradition despite the fact that some community members do not fully understand its meaning or its conformity with Islamic teachings. The study aims to analyze the historical background, ritual procedures, embedded values, and the alignment of the mandi kaek tradition with the principles of sharia. A qualitative research method with an empirical juridical approach was employed through observations, interviews with customary and religious leaders as well as community members, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that the mandi kaek tradition is motivated by gratitude for the birth of a child, efforts to strengthen social ties, and respect for ancestral customs. The ritual process contains symbolic values related to hope, protection, and cultural identity. From the standpoint of Islamic law, this tradition is permissible as long as it is understood as a cultural practice (‘urf) that does not incorporate elements of polytheism or beliefs contradicting Islamic creed, and can be adapted to incorporate Islamic prayers. Thus, mandi kaek represents a form of local wisdom that can be preserved as long as it remains within the boundaries of Islamic law.

Abstract

This study explores the experiences of students regarding the use of intensive reading as one of the strategies of acquiring vocabulary knowledge. Intensive reading is recognized as a process that focuses on close and detailed understanding of texts, particularly vocabulary improvement. This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The participants were 28 seventh grade students from a senior high school. The data were collected through a questionnaire about the students’ perspective of intensive reading that used four likert scale formats. The questionnaires were distributed into three aspects which are affective, behavioral, and cognitive to measure certain points from each student's perspective. The data were then analyzed descriptively to determine the overall level of students’ responses. The findings demonstrated that the majority of students hold positive perceptions toward intensive reading. Most students agreed that intensive reading activities help them increase their vocabulary mastery, motivate them to read more and assist them in understanding new words more effectively. In conclusion, the results confirm that intensive reading makes a significant contribution to vocabulary development. Therefore, it is suggested that teachers incorporate intensive reading more frequently into classroom practice to maximize students’ vocabulary acquisition.

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of quality control in higher education in Indonesia, particularly the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI), to address the inequality of education quality with a low Gross Enrollment Rate (APK) of 32% and regional disparities. The main objectives are to identify theoretical concepts, supporting regulations such as Permendiktisaintek No. 39 of 2025, implementation practices through the PPEPP cycle (Planning-Implementation-Evaluation-Control-Improvement), as well as the main challenges in the context of Islamic religious education. The research method used The research method used is a library research with a descriptive qualitative approach, which examines various quality management literature (TQM and CQI), and case studies of state/private universities, involving data triangulation from primary and secondary sources such as BPS Education Statistics 2024. The results show that SPMI is effective in improving accreditation and graduate competency through the commitment of the academic community, but is hampered by limited human resources, infrastructure, and a weak quality culture, especially in eastern Indonesia. This research provides recommendations for ongoing training, technology integration, and stakeholder synergy to achieve nationally competitive, high-quality higher education.
