Abstract

Student learning engagement is a key factor in the success of Indonesian language instruction at the elementary school level; however, students' participation in classroom learning remains relatively low. This classroom action research aimed to describe the improvement of students' learning engagement and cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of a discussion method supported by the Wildlife Detective learning media in descriptive text lessons. The study employed the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral model and was conducted in two cycles from March to April 2026, involving 28 third-grade students at SDN Karangbesuki 1 Malang. Data were collected using structured observation sheets to assess learning engagement and achievement tests to measure cognitive learning outcomes, and were analyzed descriptively using quantitative methods. The findings revealed that students' average learning engagement increased from 48.8% in the pre-cycle to 73.8% in Cycle I and reached 91.5% in Cycle II. Likewise, learning mastery improved from 42.9% to 96.4% at the end of Cycle II, exceeding the school's Minimum Learning Achievement Criteria (KKTP) of 70. Improvements in group role allocation and the refinement of learning media implementation during Cycle II further enhanced instructional effectiveness. Therefore, the discussion method supported by the Wildlife Detective learning media was proven effective in improving students' learning engagement and cognitive learning outcomes and can serve as an innovative instructional alternative for Indonesian language learning in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of Science (IPAS) on Cultural Diversity through the use of Indonesian Cultural Exploration media for fourth-grade students of SDN Karangbesuki 1 Malang. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is implemented in two cycles through the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 28 fourth-grade students of SDN Karangbesuki 1 Malang in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Analysis of learning outcomes was carried out based on the number of students who participated in the evaluation at each stage of the study. Learning actions were implemented using the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach assisted by Indonesian Cultural Exploration media consisting of cultural maps and cultural cards. In cycle I, students studied in groups using maps per island region and cultural cards, while in cycle II students studied individually using a large map of Indonesia and simplified cultural cards. The results of the study showed an increase in student learning outcomes in each cycle. The average student score increased from 72.22 in the pretest to 80.38 in the posttest of cycle I and increased to 95.56 in the posttest of cycle II. The percentage of learning completion also increased from 55.56% in the pretest to 61.54% in cycle I and reached 100% in cycle II. The results of the study indicate that the Indonesian Cultural Exploration media combined with the CTL approach is effective in improving the learning outcomes of Social Sciences on Cultural Diversity material for fourth-grade students of SDN Karangbesuki 1 Malang.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to describe the improvement of multimodal literacy skills (narrative, performative, and visual dimensions) among fifth-grade students at SDN Karangbesuki 2 Malang through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on serial imagery materials. The study is prompted by low reading interest, students' lack of self-confidence, and the dominance of conventional teaching methods. Using the Kemmis & McTaggart design model, this two-cycle research involved 24 students as subjects. Data were collected through observation techniques of learning activities and written tests (pre-test and post-test). The individual KKTP target was set at 75 with a classical success indicator of ≥85%. The results showed a consistent increase in the class average from the pre-test stage (64.3) to 83.8 at the end of Cycle II. The classical mastery percentage surged significantly from 8.3% in the pre-action stage to 41.7% at the end of Cycle I, and peaked at 87.5% at the end of Cycle II through an individual comic compilation book project. In conclusion, the implementation of the PjBL model with serial imagery materials is effective in improving multimodal literacy skills and productive creativity among elementary school students.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze new student recruitment strategies through the New Student Admission System (SPMB) in vocational schools. The issue is important because vocational schools face increasing competition, changing public preferences, and stronger demands for transparent and accountable admission services. This study used a literature study method with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data sources were selected from previous studies and theoretical references related to educational management, school marketing, student recruitment, and SPMB. The data were analyzed through identification, classification, comparison, and synthesis of findings from relevant literature. The results show that an effective recruitment strategy through SPMB requires four integrated stages, namely planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. Planning includes target setting, quota analysis, admission criteria, promotional design, and preparation of the SPMB committee. Implementation includes school promotion, information services, registration, document verification, selection, announcement, and re-registration. Evaluation is needed to measure the achievement of admission targets, service quality, media effectiveness, and barriers during the admission process. The study also found that school reputation, program quality, digital promotion, community support, facilities, and government policy influence recruitment success. Therefore, SPMB should not be viewed only as an administrative procedure, but as a strategic instrument to strengthen school competitiveness and public trust.

Abstract

The consumer non-cyclical sector makes an important contribution to the Indonesian economy but is also one of the largest contributors to hazardous and toxic waste (B3), leading to increasing demands for sustainable business practices. This condition creates a trade-off for companies in maintaining short-term financial performance while supporting long-term sustainable growth. This study examines the effects of green accounting and environmental performance on the financial performance of consumer non-cyclical companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2021–2024 period. A quantitative method was employed using secondary data from financial statements, sustainability reports, and PROPER ratings issued by the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency. The sample was selected through purposive sampling, resulting in 18 companies with 72 observations. Panel data regression was used, with the Random Effect Model (REM) selected as the best estimation model. The results show that green accounting has a negative and significant effect on financial performance, while environmental performance has no significant effect. Simultaneously, green accounting and environmental performance have a positive and significant effect on financial performance. These findings imply that companies need to manage environmental policies and investments more efficiently so that sustainability practices do not reduce financial performance, and can support long-term decision-making for management and investors.

Abstract

Abstract

Reading comprehension skills are essential for elementary school students because they support understanding written information and learning across subjects. However, initial observations in Grade I of SDN Karangbesuki 2 Malang revealed that many students were able to read words and simple sentences fluently but still experienced difficulties in comprehending texts and answering questions based on reading materials. This study aimed to improve students’ reading comprehension skills through the implementation of the HUSKAMAWA (Letters, Syllables, Words, Sentences, Meanings, and Discourse) media integrated with differentiated instruction. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages conducted in three cycles. The participants were 26 first-grade students of SDN Karangbesuki 2 Malang during the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through tests, observations, field notes, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed a continuous improvement in students’ reading comprehension skills. The average score increased from 71.15 in the pretest to 88.00 in the posttest, while learning mastery improved from 57.69% to 84.62%. The findings indicate that the HUSKAMAWA media combined with differentiated instruction effectively improves reading comprehension skills and reduces learning gaps among students. Therefore, this approach can serve as an alternative strategy for enhancing literacy learning in early-grade elementary classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigated English Education students' perceptions of World Englishes at UIN Sultan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The study was derived from the author's thesis and used the original findings reported in Chapters IV and V. A mixed-methods design was applied by combining a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative data were collected through fifteen questionnaire indicators (X1-X15) from English Education students and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews and analyzed thematically. The quantitative findings show positive perceptions across three constructs: overall comprehension of the World Englishes idea (M = 3.8), attitudes toward different English dialects (M = 3.9), and the implications of World Englishes for students' English language development (M = 3.5). The item-level data indicate that students generally agreed that English is no longer owned only by native-speaking countries and that exposure to different English varieties supports communication in real situations. The interview findings strengthened the questionnaire results by showing that students viewed English as a plural and global language, recognized the career and cultural benefits of learning World Englishes, but still experienced confusion, listening difficulty, and uncertainty about formal academic standards. The study recommends more systematic inclusion of World Englishes in English learning materials, classroom interaction, and assessment practices.
