Abstract

There is a lot of uncertainty in farming, such as farming funds using the results of previous agriculture; if it is not sufficient, farmers will make loans or use their assets. The long cassava production process, one year, only produced once, so for business sustainability, this cassava farming needs to be studied further. This study will see how the use, fulfillment, and factors affect the need for funds in cassava farming in South Abung District. The research location was determined purposively, and 153 farmers were selected using purposive random sampling. The analysis used is descriptive and Multiple Linear Regression. This study indicates four sources of funding for cassava farming: sources from own funds, loans to relatives and friends, intermediaries, and KUR. The funds owned by cassava farmers are allocated to buy seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, pay for labor, land taxes, and equipment depreciation. The factors that significantly influence the need for funds for cassava farming at the 95% confidence level are land area, seeds, fertilizers, and labor.

Abstract

Indonesia is the largest crude palm oil (CPO) producer in the world with a total production of 44,759 million tons in 2020  . One of the downstream products that can be made is RPOO which has\gh vitamin A and E content. This study aims to determine the effect of red palm oil olein (RPOO) substitution on the physical and organoleptic characteristics of grilled meatball sauce also to determine the vitamin E content in grilled meatball sauce. This study used a completely randomized design with RPOO substitution as a treatment (0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). The results showed that RPOO substitution had an effect on the physical characteristics of grilled meatball sauce, namely   emulsion stability, organoleptic properties, and vitamin E content.   The emulsin stability obtained was in the range of 89.33% -100% values. Grilled meatball sauce with 50% RPOO substitution is preferred as the best treatment by consumer best on overall. The vitamin E content in one servimg  of the selectedt grilled meatball sauce is 20.5559  mc g, beyond recommended daily consumtion of vitamin E (15 mc g). Consuming 1 serving of grilled  meatball sauce can meet the daily vitamin E needs for adolesence, adult male and female.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of rations based on local raw materials as a substitute for commercial rations for crude protein, crude fat, and fiber content. This study uses local feed ingredients in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan Province: local corn, rice bran, palm kernel cake, fish meal, maggot, stone flour, topmix, and commercial rations with the brand AL 100-II Comfeed produced by PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. This research method is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD), with five ration treatments and four replications. The treatment rations were A (100% Commercial / Control Ration), B (75% Commercial Ration + 25% Local Ration), C (50% Commercial Ration + 50% Local Ration), D (25 % Commercial Ration + 75% Local Ration) and E (100% Local Basal Ration). The parameters measured were crude protein (%), crude fat (%), and crude fiber (%). The results showed that the nutritional quality of local and factory rations at specific compositions had no significant effect (P>0.05) on crude protein, crude fat, and fiber content. This study concluded that the composition of the mixture of local and commercial rations did not affect the nutritional content, especially crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber. Crude protein content ranges from 16.87% to 17.96%, crude fat from 5.17% to 6.29%, and crude fiber from 5.17% to 6.29%.

Abstract

Catfish is the primary commodity of freshwater consumption fish that is widely cultivated with a high protein content of 68.6% and a high selling price. In addition, catfish meat is believed to be capable of preventing heart and cardiovascular disease because its unsaturated fats. Catfish skin can be used as a source of collagen in the culinary, cosmetic, and health fields. Catfish spawn all year round because of the abundance of food. The environment can help stimulate the synthesis of reproductive hormones in the reproductive activity of catfish. Environmental manipulations such as temperature, pH and salinity have different effects on the hatchability of catfish (Pangasius sp.) eggs. High temperatures can speed up the hatching time of the eggs but drop the hatching percentage and survival rate because high temperature activates the chorionase enzyme containing pseudokeratin which softens fish egg shells. In contrast to the pH treatment, a pH that is too acidic will deactivate the work of the chorionase enzyme so that the shells of fish eggs are difficult to break, resulting in a low percentage of hatching and survival rate with the longest hatching time. Salinity works by balancing the osmoregulatory pressure in the shell with the environment. A high salinity concentration can damage the egg by breaking into and swelling the eggshell, causing a low survival rate. On the other hand, eggs not treated with salinity were reported to have the lowest hatching percentage due to fungi attacking the eggs causing embryos to die. Salinity does not affect egg hatching time.

Abstract

This study is intended to analyze the source of fresh fish and the quantity of fresh fish used in the business of making dried fish in Bengkulu City and analyze what factors affect the quantity of demand for fresh fish in the business of making dried fish in Bengkulu City. This research was conducted from January to February 2022 in Bengkulu City, more precisely, Sumber Jaya Village, Kampung Melayu District. The research location was determined purposively, and 86 dried fish makers were selected using the census method. The data used are primary and secondary, and the data analysis used is qualitative and quantitative. Sources of raw materials in dried fish are divided into three: self-catch, buy, and self-catch and buy. The largest percentage of sources of raw materials is to buy, where the place to get the most comes from fishermen directly. The quantity of raw material used is 10,563 Kg per production process. The factors that partially affect the quantity of demand for fresh fish by dried fish makers are the price of ice and the dummy of the business scale at the 95% confidence level.

Abstract

The rapid growth of urbanization in urban areas raises doubts about the future of urban farming. However, urban farming can survive due to the ability of urban farming to innovate in expanding its functions in various factors that hinder it. Farmers as actors need to be empowered with various knowledge and technological innovations. The purpose of the study was to analyze the simultaneous and partial effect of variables on land area, risk-taking courage, farmer's age, and sources of information on technological innovation in urban farming farmers in the digital economy era, what factors are dominant, and analyze the effect of technological innovation on farmers' income—survey research method with OLS Multiple Regression of primary data analysis technique on 70 respondents. The result of the research is that the source of information has a significant effect on technological innovation and is the dominant factor with a value of β =57.6%. In contrast, the variables of land area, risk-taking courage, and age have no effect. Technological innovation has a significant impact on income. The research finding is that technological innovation in urban farming is not influenced by land area, age of farmers, and risk-taking courage but predominantly by sources of information that have implications for farmers' income.

Abstract

Organic Hydroponics is cultivation on a planting medium without soil with a source of nutrients obtained from the decomposition of organic materials by microorganisms. Catfish cultivation wastewater and agricultural waste can be used as an alternative planting medium and a source of nutrients in organic hydroponic cultivation systems. This study aimed to determine the plant nutrient content in catfish culture wastewater added with cow dung, chicken manure, trash fish waste, and catfish waste; and to determine the growth of mustard greens and lettuce which were cultivated hydroponically in a growing medium of catfish wastewater added with cow dung, chicken manure, trash fish waste, and catfish waste. The results slot deposit 5000 showed that the solution of catfish culture wastewater added with catfish waste contained nutrients N 220.0 ppm, P 166.3 ppm K 154.4 ppm Ca 65.9 ppm Fe 4.4 ppm; catfish culture wastewater added with trash fish waste contains 50.0 ppm N; P 10.8 ppm; K 173.4 ppm; Ca 219.4 ppm and Fe 3.2 ppm; catfish culture wastewater added with cow dung contained nutrients N 300.0 ppm, P 293.4ppm K 1026.8 ppm Ca 413.6 ppm Fe 64.9 ppm, while those given chicken manure included N 100.0 ppm; P 76.1 ppm; K 471.1ppm; Ca 299.9ppm and Fe 27.3ppm. While catfish culture wastewater contains 55.2 ppm of N nutrients; P 6.4 ppm; K 7.0 ppm; Ca 14.2 ppm; Fe 0.4 ppm. The growth of lettuce in the growing media of catfish culture wastewater given trash fish and catfish was relatively the same, namely 37.7% and 37.9%, respectively. Meanwhile, the growth of mustard pakcoy grown on planting media given chicken manure (47.6%) was higher than the growth of mustard pakcoy grown on cow dung (33.3%). The addition of 50% ABmix nutrients increased the growth of mustard pakcoy on media that was given chicken manure by 81.7%; pakcoy on media that was given cow dung waste by 74.8%; Meanwhile, the addition of ABmix 50% nutrients increased the growth of lettuce on media that was given catfish meal by 64.4%, and on media that was given trash fish meal by 61.9%. Research shows a high potential for using organic waste as a medium and source of organic hydroponic cultivation fertilizer.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) analyze the level of financial and non-financial feasibility of oil palm and rice farming, (2) analyze the sensitivity level of oil palm and rice farming, (3) determine the comparability of the feasibility of oil palm and rice farming and to know what is the most profitable in Lubuk Pinang District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The sampling of oil palm farmers in this study used a stratified random sampling technique, while the rice farmers used accidental sampling techniques. The data analysis technique used in this study is the analysis of the Present Net Value (NPV) and Net B / C Ratio. The results showed that from a financial perspective, oil palm and rice farming in Lubuk Pinang District, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province, were declared feasible to continue; this can be seen from the NPV and B / C Ratio values. The NPV value in oil palm farming is IDR 44,682,270.66, while the NPV in rice farming is IDR 168,218,082.21. The Net B / C Ratio in oil palm farming was 2.31, while the Net B / C Ratio value in rice farming was 6.94. From a non-financial perspective, oil palm and rice farming are considered feasible due to the availability of production factors for both farms, such as seeds, labor, and other production inputs.

Abstract

Papaya crops associated with weeds are commonly found in Kepahiang and Rejang Lebong district, Bengkulu. The presence of weeds can affect the development and productivity of papaya. Until now, the species and diversity of weeds associated with papaya crops have not been reported. This study aimed to identify and determine weed density around papaya crops. Sampling was conducted to measure and calculate weed density using the quadratic method measuring 1 m x 1 m. The data collection was done by randomly taking the weeds on the plots at as many as 10 points. Based on the result of weed identification, there were 16 species of weeds spread over 9 families. The calculation of the highest relative density in Padang Lekat, Durian Depun Village, and Dua Jalur Road was Ageratum conyzoides (0,584%), Claytonia perfoliata (0,306%), and Eleusine indica (0,274%).

Abstract

The dependence on the use of wheat flour in the manufacture of bakery products should be reduced to reduce wheat imports. One alternative that can be done is substituting wheat flour with other flour, for example, banana flour. In their manufacture, cookies substituted for banana flour produce a brown color that is not preferred. Therefore, to fix this, in making cookies, the addition of green moringa leaf flour is carried out. Besides being expected to improve the cookies' color, Moringa leaf flour also contains good nutrients. Moringa leaf flour contains protein, minerals, vitamins, essential amino acids, and antioxidants. The nutrients contained in moringa leaf flour have the potential to be nutritious food additives and beneficial to health. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of moringa leaf flour on wheat flour cookies and banana flour on physical characteristics (moisture content, color, and texture), chemical characteristics (protein content and ash content), and organoleptic (color, aroma, taste, texture, and overalls). This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with 1 factor: the percentage of addition of Moringa leaf flour, 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Adding Moringa leaves to manufacture cookies from wheat flour and banana flour significantly affects the moisture content, texture, color, protein content, and ash content of the cookies produced. The most preferred cookies are cookies with the addition of 5% moringa leaf flour.
