Abstract

This study was aimed to identify the chemical composition of forages cultivated in the Centre of Integrated Farming of PT. Arutmin site Asam-asam including Indigofera, Odot, Gamal, Azolla, and Singkong. Dry Matter (DM), Organic Matter (OM), Crude Fibre (CF), Crude Protein (CP), and Ether Extract (EE). Each sample was analyzed in The Laboratory of Analysis, Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut. Analysis of the parameters were carried out using the descriptive method. Proximate analysis showed that indigofera, odot, gamal, azolla and singkong contained 97,3%; 96,1%; 98,2%; 94,6%; 92,6% of DM, 87,9%; 82,4%; 91,3%; 79,2%; 86,7% of OM, 16,0%; 31,5%; 21%; 25,7%; 28,3% of CF, 16,0%; 20,2%; 15,8%; 21,1%; 19,5%; 22,7% of CP, and 1,5%; 3,2%; 2,7%; 5,5%; 2,3% of EE respectively. In conclusion, the chemical composition of the forages cultivated in the Centre of Integrated Farming varies from one plant to another.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of rations based on local raw materials as a substitute for commercial rations for crude protein, crude fat, and fiber content. This study uses local feed ingredients in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan Province: local corn, rice bran, palm kernel cake, fish meal, maggot, stone flour, topmix, and commercial rations with the brand AL 100-II Comfeed produced by PT. Japfa Comfeed Indonesia Tbk. This research method is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD), with five ration treatments and four replications. The treatment rations were A (100% Commercial / Control Ration), B (75% Commercial Ration + 25% Local Ration), C (50% Commercial Ration + 50% Local Ration), D (25 % Commercial Ration + 75% Local Ration) and E (100% Local Basal Ration). The parameters measured were crude protein (%), crude fat (%), and crude fiber (%). The results showed that the nutritional quality of local and factory rations at specific compositions had no significant effect (P>0.05) on crude protein, crude fat, and fiber content. This study concluded that the composition of the mixture of local and commercial rations did not affect the nutritional content, especially crude protein, crude fat, and crude fiber. Crude protein content ranges from 16.87% to 17.96%, crude fat from 5.17% to 6.29%, and crude fiber from 5.17% to 6.29%.

Abstract

The present study aimed to examine the effect of locally available agro-industrial wastes on the growth and productivity of pink oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus djamor) and the potential use of substrates as animal feeding based on its compositional change following mushroom growth. A total of three substrate formulations labeled OPF (80% oil palm frond), CS (80% corn straw), and OPFCS (40% oil palm frond + 40% corn straw) were prepared. Aside from the earliest mycelium completion, pinhead formation, and fruiting bodies maturation, CS and OPFCS exhibit the best total yield, dry weight, and biological Efficiency. On the contrary, P. djamor grown in OPF resulted in the minimum in most of the parameters measured. Therefore, CS, single and in combination with OPF could be utilized as an alternative growing media for the cultivation of P. djamor. The analysis of chemical compositions showed that the growth of P. djamor significantly reduced the crude fiber (CF) and increased the crude protein (CP) content of the mycelium-treated substrate. In contrast, THE CP content of the spent is unchanged or relatively lower than that of the initial substrate. It can be concluded that compared to the spent, mycelium-treated substrate had higher values of being used for animal feeding.

Abstract

Tanaman gelinggang (Cassia alata L.) merupakan salah satu komoditas pertanian unggulan dari Kalimantan Selatan, dan tanaman yang berpotensi mengandung senyawa fitokimia yang bersifat antibakteri dan dapat digunakan sebagai Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) untuk ternak unggas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan fitokimia yang terkandung di dalam ekstrak daun gelinggang. Sampel daun gelinggang diperoleh dari Kab. Tanah Laut, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut air, dan dilanjutkan dengan uji kandungan fitokimia. Hasil uji kandungan fitokimia ekstrak air daun gelinggang positif mengandung senyawa fenolik, flafonoid, saponin dan tanin. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak air daun gelinggang (Cassia alata L.) mengandung senyawa fenolik, flavonoid, saponin dan tanin yang dapat bersifat antibakteri dan dapat digunakan sebagai Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) untuk ternak unggas.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh autoklaf dan kombinasi perlakuan urea dan autoklaf terhadap kandungan nutrisi dan degradasi bahan kering (DBK), bahan organik (DBO), serat kasar (DSK), keambaan dan produksi gas pelepah sawit (PS). Percobaan dilakukan dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, dimana P1: PS, P2: PS + autoklaf, P3: PS + 2,5% urea + autoklaf, P4: PS + 5% urea + autoklaf, P5: PS + 7,5% urea + autoklaf. Sampel dari masing-masing perlakuan dianalisis kandungan bahan kering (BK), bahan organik (BO) dan serat kasar (SK), serta pengukuran keambaan. Sebanyak 1 g dari setiap perlakuan diinkubasi dalam cairan rumen+buffer pada suhu 39ᵒC selama 72 jam. Produksi gas tercatat pada periode inkubasi 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72 jam. Pada akhir masa inkubasi, fermentasi dihentikan dengan menambahkan 1-2 tetes HgCl2 dan residu diambil dan digunakan untuk mengukur DBK, DBO dan DSK. Data dianalisis secara statistic dengan ANOVA diikuti dengan analisis kontras orthogonal dan regresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan autoklaf menurunkan SK, sedangkan perlakuan kombinasi gagal menurunkan SK. Analisis ragam menunjukkan perlakuan mempengaruhi (p<0,01) DBK, DBO, DSK, keambaan dan produksi gas PS. Analisis kontras orthogonal menunjukkan perlakuan autoklaf meningkatkan (p<0,01) DBK, DBO, DSK dan keambaan. Analisis regresi menunjukkan hubungan linier positif antara kadar urea pada perlakuan autoklaf untuk DSK dan keambaan, tetapi hubungan linier negative untuk DBK dan DBO. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perlakuan autoklaf menurunkan SK dan keambaan tetapi meningkatkan DBK, DBO dan DSK. Keambaan dan DSK dari PS dengan perlakuan autoklaf meningkat seiring dengan peningkatan kadar urea, sedangkan DBK dan DBO menurun. Kombinasi autoklaf dan 2,5%-7,5% urea belum dapat meningkatkan produksi gas secara signifikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi ransum berbasis bahan baku lokal sebagai pengganti ransum komersil terhadap kadar air dan abu. Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan pakan lokal yang ada di Kabupaten Tanah Laut, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan yang terdiri dari jagung lokal, dedak padi, bungkil inti sawit, tepung ikan, maggot, tepung batu, topmix dan juga ransum komersil. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan 5 perlakuan ransum dan 4 ulangan. Ransum perlakuan yaitu A (100 % Ransum Komersil / Kontrol), B (75 % Ransum komersil + 25 % Ransum Lokal) C (50 % Ransum Komersil + 50 % Ransum Lokal), D (25 % Ransum Komersil + 75 % Ransum Lokal) dan E (100 % Ransum Basal Lokal). Parameter yang diukur adalah kadar air (%) dan kadar abu (%). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kualitas nutrisi ransum lokal dan ransum pabrikan pada komposisi tertentu memberikan pengaruh berbeda tidak nyata terhadap kadar air dan kadar abu. Dari hasil penelitian ini disimpulkan bahwa komposisi campuran ransum lokal dan ransum komersil tidak berpengaruh terhadap kandungan nutrisi terutama kadar air dan kadar abu. Kadar air berkisar 11,64% -12,38% dan kadar abu berkisar 16,14% - 16,76%.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat pengaruh tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) pada urea molases blok (UMB) kualitas fisik meliputi aroma, tekstur, warna dan kekerasan. Manfaat penelitian adalah memberi informasi kualitas fisik pada UMB yang diberi tambahan TOGA dengan level yang berbeda. Penelitian ini akan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Mutu Pakan Program Studi Teknologi Pakan Ternak Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu P1 : (UMB + 0,8% TOGA), P2 : (UMB + 1,6% TOGA), P3 : (UMB + 2,4% TOGA) dan P4 : (UMB + 3,2% TOGA). Metode yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini yaitu menyiapkan bahan baku pakan penyusun UMB. mecetak semua bahan yang telah tercampur ke catakan paralon kemudian keringkan di bawah sinar matahari sampai mengeras. Tahap analisis yang dilakukan antara lain pengambilan data aroma, tekstur dan warna dengan menggunakan bantuan 20 orang panelis semi terlatih. Sedangkan penilaian kekerasan UMB dilakukan secara manual dan subjektif dengan menekan UMB menggunakan ibu jari tangan. Data yang telah didapat dari hasil kuesioner (aroma, warna dan tekstur) diuji menggunakan analisis ragam (Anova) dan apabila menunjukan hasil yang berpengaruh nyata maka dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Sedangkan hasil uji kekerasan dibahas secara deskriptif. Analisis ragam statistik menunjukkan bahwa UMB yang ditambahkan TOGA berpengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap aroma, warna dan tekstur. Tetapi pada uji jarak Duncan hanya warna yang berbeda nyata (p<0,05) dari pada parameter lain. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian beberapa level TOGA (0,8%,1,6%,2,4%,3,2%) dapat mempengaruhi aroma, warna, tektur dan kekerasan UMB tetapi tidak berbeda pada tiap perlakuan kecuali warna. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya yaitu perlu adanya level TOGA yang lebih optimal agar dapat diterapkan langsung mengetahui pengaruh terhadap performan ternak ruminansia.

Abstract

A mixture of legumes with grasses has been shown to improve silage's physical and nutritional qualities. This study assessed the chemical composition and physical characteristics of Cynodon dactylon (CD) when mixed with different proportions of Gliricidia sepium (GS). Chopped and wilted leaves of CD and GS were mixed in the following combinations:  P1: 0% GS + 78% CD; P2: 28% GS + 50% CD; P3: 39% GS + 39% CD; P4: 50% GS + 28% CD; P5: 78% GS + 0% CD. Each combination is enriched with 10% rice bran (RB), 10% Corn Feed (CF) and 2% molasses. A 750 g of the fresh materials were compressed into plastic jar silos and kept for 21 days. The physical characteristics and the loss of chemical composition of silage were analyzed descriptively. pH value and the chemical composition data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) in a randomized complete design with five replications. Considering all physical and chemical characteristics, GS and CD can be combined as silage material. However, the study recommends including 28-39% GS (P2 and P3) as the most suitable in response to pH value, color, aroma, texture, and presence of fungus.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the use of EM4 in compost and AMF (Fungi, Mycorrhiza, Arbuscula) on the growth of kumpai grass on ex-coal mining land. The research phase used CRD which consisted of 4 treatments and 4 replications, where P0 = 40% feces + 35% empty fruit bunches + 20% palm fronds + 4% bran + 1% urea, P1 = P0 + 2% EM4, P2 = P0 + 4% EM4, P3= P0 + 6% EM4. pH parameters, and (C, N, P, K and C/N ratio) of compost. The best of one step is used on two steps. This research was carried out in two stages using CRD with a 3x2x3 factorial pattern, with 2 factors as treatment, namely factor A was A0= 0 compost, A1= 12 g compost, and A2= 24 g compost and factor B was AMF with a dose of B0= 0 g and B1= 20 grams. The treatments analyzed included plant height, number of tillers, root dry weight and forage dry matter yield. The results showed that EM4 treatment had no effect on shrinkage components, pH, P and K (P<0.05). Compost average shrinkage= 21.37%, pH= 7, N= 3.66%, P= 0.48%, C= 29.94%, K= 1.14% and C/N= 12.03 . EM4 treatment had a significant effect on the composition of C, N and C/N. In stage 2 the research results showed that the treatment given AMF 20 g had a significant effect on plant height, number of tillers, and forage dry matter yield. Meanwhile, the interaction between composition and FMA has no significant effect on all variables. The conclusions of this research are (1) the addition of EM4 starter at a level of 6% shows the best value for compost shrinkage, pH and compost nutrient content. (2) Giving 20 g AMF increases forage growth.

Abstract

This research evaluates the phenotypic characteristics of male Peranakan Ongole (PO) cattle in Napis Village, Tambakrejo District, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java. The research method used is a case study through observation, photography, and direct measurement. The location and research sample were determined through purposive sampling based on the characteristics of cattle according to SNI 2020 PO cattle. The evaluation encompassed 109 male PO cattle, categorized by age, ranging from PI0 to PI8. The research results show that the qualitative characteristics of male PO cattle, including dominant white body color, black eyelashes, black muzzle, horns, dewlap, and hump, are in accordance with the SNI 7651.5:2020 standard. In addition, morphometric characteristics such as body weight, withers height, body length, chest circumference, hip height, hip width, and chest depth significantly increased (P<0.05) with the age of the cattle. This data shows the optimal growth pattern of male PO cattle, which can be used as a reference in genetic selection programs and the development of superior-quality seeds. This research emphasizes the strategic potential of Napis Village as a source of high-quality PO cattle seeds in Indonesia.
