Abstract

In this article, the notion of (α,β)-intuitionistic fuzzy ideals (briefly, (α,β)-IF ideals) of ternary semigroups is described using ”belong to” relation (ϵ) and “quasi-coincidence with” relation (q) connecting two objects, i.e., an intuitionistic fuzzy point (IFP, for short) and an intuitionistic fuzzy set (briefly, IFS). Throughout this paper, α∈{ϵ,q,ϵ∨q} and β∈{ϵ,q,ϵ∨q,ϵ∧q}.  The main purposes of this research are to construct the definition of (α,β)-intuitionistic fuzzy ideals of ternary semigroups and to investigate the relations between some types of these ideals. To achieve these goals, we use literature review method to study previous researches regarding (α,β)-fuzzy ideals of ternary semigroups and (α,β)-IF ideals of semigroups. As a result, we find the conditions for an IFS and an ideal of a ternary semigroup to be classified as an (α,ϵ∨q)-IF ideal of ternary semigroup. Relations between some types of (α,β)-IF ideals of a ternary semigroup are also discussed here.

Abstract

In this article, we discuss the Chebyshev Polynomial and its characteristics. The second order difference equation and the process obtaining the explicit solution of the Chebyshev polynomial have been given for each real number. The symmetry and orthogonality of the Chebyshev polynomial has also been demonstrated using the explicit solutions obtained. Furthermore, we have also given how to approx the polynomial function using the Chebyshev polynomials.

Abstract

This study discusses the dynamical analysis of the symbiosis commensalism and parasitism models in four populations with Michaelis-Menten type harvesting in the first commensal population. This model is formed from a construction of the symbiotic model of commensalism and parasitism by harvesting the commensal population. This construction is by adding a new population, namely the second commensal population. Furthermore, it will be investigated that the four populations can coexist. The first analysis is to identify the conditions of existence at all equilibrium points along with the conditions for their existence and local stability around the equilibrium point along with the stability requirements. From this model, it is obtained sixteen points of equilibrium, namely one point of extinction in the four populations, four points of extinction in all three populations, six points of extinction in both populations, four points of extinction in one population and one point where the four populations can coexist. Of the sixteen points, only four points can be asymptotically stable if they meet the stability conditions that have been determined. Finally, a numerical simulation is performed to describe the model behavior. In this study, the method used in numerical simulation is the RK-4 method. The numerical simulation results that have been obtained support the dynamical analysis results that have been carried out previously.

Abstract

The purpose of this research finds a link between adaptive reasoning, mathematical problem solving, and cognitive style. This research is a literature study. This paper showed the relationship between adaptive reasoning, mathematical problem solving, and cognitive styles. In particular, field-independent (FI) and field-dependent (FD) cognitive styles. Adaptive reasoning in mathematical problems is the legitimacy of problem strategies. Whereas the cognitive style provides opportunities for students to give reasonable arguments according to the tendency of the cognitive style. Mathematical problem-solving in the FI and the FD can vary according to students' cognitive styles. It was found that adaptive reasoning, mathematical problems, cognitive styles (FI, FD) have a strong stylistic relationship where adaptive reasoning will be able to give direction to students in solving math problems. Therefore, the basis for researching the adaptive reasoning profile of students in solving mathematical problems in terms of FI and FD cognitive styles is our understanding of the relationship between adaptive reasoning, mathematical problem solving, and cognitive style

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the navigation of an unmanned aircraft automatically using theory of the metric dimension of stars in a forest fire area. The research will also be expanded by determining the star metric dimensions on other unique graphs and graphs resulting from amalgamation operations. The methods used in this research are pattern recognition and axiomatic deductive methods. The pattern detection method is to look for patterns to construct differentiated sets on the metric dimension (dim) so that the coordinate values are minimum and different. Meanwhile, axiomatic deductive is a research method that uses deductive proof principles that apply in mathematical logic by using existing axioms or theorems to solve a problem. Then the method is used to determine the stars' metric dimensions.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether learning with a problem-posing approach could improve students' mathematical understanding skills. The method used in this research is the literature review method, which is the activity of reviewing or exploring several articles, books, and documents (both printed and electronic), as well as data sources or other information that are considered relevant to the study. The data collection technique used in this research is the documentation method. The data analysis technique used was content analysis. Content analysis is used to obtain valid inferences and can be re-examined based on the context. To maintain the immutability of the assessment process and prevent, and overcome misinformation (a human misunderstanding that can occur due to a lack of researcher's knowledge or a lack of literature writers), inter-literature checks are carried out and re-read the literature and pay attention to the supervisor comments. Based on the results of data analysis from articles that have been carried out, it can be concluded that learning using the problem-posing approach can improve students' mathematical understanding abilities, marked by the increase in learning outcomes of students who learn using the problem-posing approach than students who use conventional learning.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the malignant tumors that begins in the breast cells that develop and attack the surrounding tissues; according to World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is globally declared the top five killer cancers. In Indonesia, breast cancer becomes the number one killer cancer.  One of the successes in breast cancer treatment is if the cure obtained by cancer patients can be proven to have the same life expectancy as those who do not have breast cancer. This study aims to know the probability of survival of breast cancer patients and know the factors that affect breast cancer patients' survival. The data were consist of 394 medical records of breast cancer patients at Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya in the period January 2018 – December 2019, with variables used, i.e., initial age of infection, clinical stage, tumor size, metastatic to other organs, type of treatment, and patient status (life or death). This study using Kaplan Meier and Cox Proportional Hazard regression methods, and the result showed that the probability of survival of breast cancer patients (with data samples) was 0.737 or 73.7%. The variables that significantly affect breast cancer patients' survival are the initial age of infection, the clinic stage, and the tumor's size. This research provides information and motivation to the community related to life expectancy, especially in breast cancer patients, to stay motivated in the healing process. In addition, this research is also used to add insight to academics, especially the department of statistics, regarding the regression of Cox Proportional Hazard in analyzing the survival of breast cancer patients.
