Abstract

In teaching and learning English as a foreign language. The students should have the ability in using it in speaking or writing. However to be able to speak or write well, the students should have the mastery of structure. Because if they have lack of structure they will make errors. It is therefore, the writer would like to analyze the students‟ errors in using English negation. The subject is the students at the second semester of the seventh class of SMP PGRI 3 Bandar that consists of 40 students.In the data collecting technique the writer used essay test writing test, it means that ask the students to answer based on the teacher‟ questions in written dialogue and in analyzing the data the students was used surface strategy taxonomy.Based on the data analyzing of students‟ English negation of their writing dialogue, the writer described that there are 25 students who made errors from 40 students= 62.5%. And from 40 students the writer found 440 sentences. From 440 students, there are 199 in correct sentences= 27.04%..From 199 incorrect sentence or errors, there are 16 sentences in omission errors= 13.45%; addition errors is 16 sentences= 13.45%; misformation errors is 81 sentences = 68.06%; and misordering errors is 6 sentences= 5.04%. Based on kind of errors, it can be seen that misformation is the highest errors and misordering errors is lowest error.Most of the students‟ errors because of the students‟ ability of structure. It means that the students have lack of structure mastery especially in using auxiliary verb and the using of „not‟ and also the using tenses.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the human development index (HDI), which measures the comparison between life expectancy, literacy, education, and standard of living has not risen significantly. Conditions of participation to continue in college is still low when compared with countries in Southeast Asia. Amid the conditions of education in Indonesia as it is today, STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung which is one of the largest Private Universities (PTS) in Lampung is encouraged not to cease to organize the arrangement of educational system so that it becomes the center of excellence of the various things that people need emphasizes Quality, Efficiency, and Relevance in making it a real college that relies excellence and professionalism, as well as vision, mission, and objectives. The vision and mission of the university reflects intrinsic quality with a multi-faceted and multidimensional approach.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dikaji dalam tesis ini berisi tentang Semiotika dalam Kumpulan Kata Mutiara Mario Teguh”. Aspek semiotika yang dikaji meliputi ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan sistem tanda ikon, indeks, dan simbol dalam kumpulan kata mutiara Mario Teguh. Metode penelitian menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif Data dan sumber data penelitian ini adalah semiotika dalam kata-kata mutiara Maria Teguh yang dianalisis berjumlah 30 edisi tahun 2017. Analisis dilakukan dengan tahapan mengapresiasikan obyek, membedah objek, menafsirkan arti tanda-tanda, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kata mutiara Mario Teguh ditinjau dari sudut pandang semiotika sangat menunjukkan kategori semiotika, meliputi: ikon, indeks, dan simbol. Dari 30 kata mutiara yang dianalisis berdasarkan semiotiknya 12 di antaranya menunjukkan semiotika kategori ikon dan 7 di antaranya menunjukkan semiotika kategori indeks. Sementara itu, terdapat 11 kata mutiara Mario Teguh yang menunjukkan semiotika kategori simbol. Pesan-pesan yang disampaikan dalam kata mutiara Mario Teguh tersebut secara umum menunjukkan tentang kerjakan mulai dari hal yang paling kecil, suskses diusia muda, jadilah orang yang pandai mencari jalan, jangan bersedih, jadilah dirimu orang yang berguna, jangan hina pasangan, tentang kesalahan besar, jaga sikap hidup, berbicara yang sopan dan santun, cintai pribadi yang tepat, ambil hikmah dari setiap masalah, jadilah orang bijak, obat terbaik adalah jatuh cinta lagi, pentingnya kasih sayang, konsekuensi sebuah doa, keutamaan niat dalam setiap tindakan, iklas akan kekuatan tuhan, bersikaplah disiplin, jangan menyesal karena cinta, dan lainnya.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out: (1) which one results better mathematics learning achievement among type TGT, NHT, or conventional; (2) which one has better mathematics learning achievement among students with AQ categories; (3) at each of learning models, which students has better mathematics learning achievement with AQ categories; (4) at each of AQ categories, which one results better mathematics learning achievement among type learning models. This study was quasi-experimental research. The population of this study was all students in grade VII SMPN Bandar Lampung. The sampling technique was done by stratified cluster random sampling. Data analysis tecnique was used to test the hypothesis was twoways analysis of variance with unbalanced cell as a 3x3 factorial design.The conclusions of the research were as follows. (1) Cooperative learning type TGT results better mathematics learning achievement than type NHT and conventional, and the achievement of student mathematics learning by NHT is the same as the achievement conventional. (2) The achievement of student mathematics learning in climbers have the better than the achievement campers, students with climbers have better than mathematics learning achievement quitters, and the achievement of student mathematics learning in campers is the same as the achievement quitters; (3) in each learning models, the students mathematics learning achievment is in constancy with result of AQ categories, (4) in each of AQ categories, students mathematics learning achievment is in constancy with result of learning models.

Abstract

Theory of emotional intelligence has been proven to contribute to the teaching and learning process, and increase students’ achievement. This research was aimed at investigating if there was any correlation among emotional intelligence, reading motivation on reading comprehension achievement of eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Kota Lubuklinggau. Two hundred and ninety four students participated in this research. Emotional intelligence questionnaire, reading motivation questionnaire and students’ reading comprehension test were used as the instruments. Analyses by Pearson Product-Moment Correlation revealed that there was correlation between emotional intelligence and reading comprehension achievement with r-obtained (.155) and p (.008). At the same time, there was also correlation between reading motivation and reading comprehension achievement with robtained (.165) and p (.005). Furthermore, regression analyses showed that emotional intelligence and reading motivation could predict reading comprehension by explaining 4.6% of the changes in reading comprehension achievement respectively.

Abstract

There are many technique which can be used in teaching and learning process an one of them is group work. Group work has the power to encourage the writing habit in a good a way. It enables students to work together on writing in different ways. In writing, the technique group work can helps the students to improve their knowledge and add their vocabulary from their mistakes in writing. The objectives of this research was to know the influence of group work towards students’ descriptive writing ability at the first semester of the tenth class at SMA YADIKA NATAR Lampung Selatan. To conduct this research, the writer used experimental method and the number of population was 75 students. The writer took two classes as the sample of this research. The writer used total sampling technique to take the sample of this research. To know the students’ ability, the writer gave writing test that was by asking the students to write a paragraph about descriptive text at least 150 words. To know the influence of group work towards students’ descriptive writing abilty. After analyzing the data by using , it was found that at significance level 1% and 5% = 2.66 and 1.99 and t ratio 3.97 it menas that , so there is positive influence of using group work towards students’ descriptive writing abilty at the second semseter of the tenth class at SMA YADIKA NATAR Lampung Selatan in 2014/2015. Therefore, the English teacher can use group work is suitable technique for teaching writing, especially in descriptive writing ability in the class.

Abstract

The aim of this research is for knowing the influence of applying Problem Based Learning towards the students‟ learning result at the even semester of the tenth class of SMA Negeri 2 Gading Rejo academic year 2015/2016. In this research, researcher used experimental method. The population were 156 students. The sample in this research were 2 classes. Class X2 was experimental class which consisted of 34 studentstaugh using problem based learning model, and Class X6 was control class which consisted of 34 students taugh using conventional model. Cluster random sampling was used as sampling technique. t-test formula was used in testing the hypothesis. The analysis resulted that thit = 6,39 and after consulted to t table with 5% significance level, it got ttab = 1,98. Therefore, it was proved that thit>ttab. It meant that Ho was rejected. It can be concluded that there is an influence of applying Problem Based Learning towards the students‟ learning result at the tenth class of SMA Negeri 2 Gading Rejo academic year 2015/2016.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the influence of using authentic material towards students` tenses mastery. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Way Sulan 1 Lampung Selatan in 2015/2016. The writer conducted this research by using quasi-experimental method. The sample of this research were 2 classes, they were VIIIA as the experimental class and VIIIB as the control class. The writer used cluster random sampling technique in taking the sample. For the data collecting technique, the writer used tenses test. This research showed that there was a significant influence of authentic material towards students’ tenses mastery at the eighth class of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Way Sulan Lampung Selatan 2015/2016. It was proved by the result of ttest was higher than ttable with significance level 5% and 1% (1.67<2.51>2.39). It can be concluded that the authentic material has positive significant influence in improving students’ tenses mastery.

Abstract

One indicator of the student progress in the teaching – learning process is the students improvement at every evaluation. If the score is low, it means thatthe students is not successful in his her learning. Presurvey result in faculty of economics in the University of Megoupak Tulang Bawang indicated that thestudents score mostly C, this caused by several factors influencing the students achievement learning .This research is objected to identify the relationship of (1) students attitude in the accounting introductory subject and the learning achievement (2) self concept and learning achievement (3) learning quality and the learning achievement, and (4) students attitude at accounting introductory, self concept, and learning quality and learning achievement. The research used survey method that is, studying large and small population by selecting and studying the chosen sample of the population in order to find insidence, distribution, and relative interrelation from the sociological and psychological . Based on the result of the analysis and discussion, it can be concluded that (1) there was a relationship between students attitude in the accounting introductory subject gave contribution 15,8% towards the students achievement in learning (2) there was a relationship between self concept and learning achievement. Self concept gave contribution 18,3% towards the student achievement in learning (3)there was a relationship between learning quality and learning achievement. Learning quality gave contribution 9,5% towards the student achievement inlearning (4) There was a relationship among students attitude at accounting introductory, self concept, learning quality and learning achievement gavecontribution 29,3% towards student learning achievement.

Abstract

This research was a descriptive quatitative study that focuses on the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their ability in writing hortatory exposition text. The problem formulation of this research was “is there any correlation between students’ vocabulary and their writing ability of hortatory exposition text?”. Whereas the objective of this research were to know and to describe whether or not there is the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their ability in writing hortatory exposition text. The sample of this research was 28 students of fourth grade semester of STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. This research was taken place in STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. After calculating by using Product Moment formula the writer got rxy was 0.54. rcount = 0.54 was taken place between 0.400 –0.600. rtable for significance level 5% is 0.374 andit an be concluded that rcount = 0.54 is higher than rtable = 0.374. So Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. It means that there is a fair correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their ability in writing hortatory exposition text at the fourth semester of English Department of STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung in 2016/2017.
