Abstract

Voice of Baceprot (VoB) stands out as an oase in the midst of the dwindling presence of heavy metal bands in Indonesia. The band had a rapid increase in popularity when the public was presented with its members wearing hijabs. Within a little timeframe, this band swiftly gained global attention. This study aims to analyse the appearance and stage performance of the heavy metal band VoB, focusing on the perspectives of female students from Generation Z at two distinct types of Islamic boarding schools: traditional and modern. This study employed descriptive methodologies with qualitative approach. In order to enhance this research, the reception analysis technique developed by Stuart Hall was employed to ascertain the perspective of each informant in viewing VoB's performance, encompassing both verbal and non-verbal communication. The data collection encompasses interviews, observation, and literature review. Research indicates that female students at Traditional Islamic Boarding Schools differ from those at Modern Islamic Boarding Schools in terms of personal beliefs, values, and educational backgrounds. Traditional Islamic boarding schools have more open, whilst Modern Islamic boarding schools are more rigorous.   Keywords: Female Student of Islamic School, Appearance, Stage Performance, Voice of Baceprot

Abstract

In an increasingly dynamic context, organizational communication climate is an important aspect that affects employee performance and job satisfaction. This research systematically analyses the existing literature to understand how organizational communication climate affects employee communication satisfaction. Using the Systematic Literature Review method, this study identifies, assesses, and synthesizes research results from 2010 to 2021 to build a more robust understanding of the relationship between communication climate and communication satisfaction in various forms of organizations. As part of the review process, relevant articles were identified by searching major academic databases using appropriate keywords. After the selection process, seven studies were selected based on the established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis showed that a positive communication climate significantly increases employee communication satisfaction. The findings indicate a significant relationship between effective communication practices and employee satisfaction levels, where two-way communication, transparency and inclusiveness play an important role. This research has significant implications for organizational stakeholders in developing effective communication strategies to improve employee satisfaction and performance. Recommendations for future research are also presented, including further exploring mediating factors that may influence the relationship between communication climate and satisfaction. By understanding these dynamics, organizations can design a more supportive and communicative work environment for their employees. This research applies the theory proposed by Peter Montoya, which states that personal branding is considered successful if it fulfills eight concepts: Specialization, Leadership, Personality, Distinctiveness, Visibility, Unity, Persistence, and Good Reputation. The results of this study indicate that all eight concepts of personal branding described in Peter Montoya's theory are present and observable in each of Ustadz Luqmanul Hakim's Instagram posts. The application of personal branding concepts on Instagram has allowed Ustadz Luqmanul Hakim to specialize in his da’wah theme, which is charity. In terms of leadership, he successfully encourages the public to honor orphans. His personality is good, dignified, and humble. His distinctiveness lies in his language and attire. He promotes his preaching consistently on Instagram to ensure visibility. Unity is reflected in how he practices what he preaches in his daily life. Abstract

Currently the existence of NU is under the auspices of the organization, but in political dynamics it is very calculated. This research discusses the strategic role of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in political dynamics through the contestation of Pilkada in East Java, focusing on the Islamic communication approach applied. As the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia, NU has a significant influence on the formation of public opinion, political communication patterns, and mass mobilization in the local political arena. This research explores howNU utilizes Islamic communication principles, such as da’wah bil hikmah, justice, and togetherness, to build an effective strategy in supporting certain candidates. Implicitly, NU has a higher position than parties in the political arena. In the context of political communication, the existence of NU cannot be separated from the role of kiai and santri, both in the front stage and the back stage. The research method used includes a qualitative approach with data analysis from in-depth interviews, literature studies, and participatory observation of the dynamics of Pilkada in East Java. The results showed that NU’s approach was not only oriented towards electoral politics but also reflected efforts to maintain social harmony and Islamic values in society. NU uses pesantren networks, religious leaders, and local cultural traditions as strong communication media to strengthen its influence. The research results of the concept of dramaturgy and role-playing carried out by the candidates, creating an atmosphere and conditions of interaction which then give its own meaning to the community. The emergence of this meaning is highly dependent on the social background of the community itself and forms a society that is able to adapt to various atmospheres, patterns of political life. Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze the phenomenon of culture shock experienced by Non-KMI (Kulliyatul Mu›allimin Al-Islamiyah) students at Darussalam Gontor University (UNIDA Gontor). Non-KMI students, who come from non-Islamic boarding school backgrounds, face great challenges in adapting to an Islamic boarding school-based campus environment, where Arabic and English are used as the main languages, and high discipline is an integral part of campus life. Using an exploratory qualitative approach, this research explores the adaptation experiences of Non-KMI students by focusing on emotional, behavioral and cognitive aspects. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation related to academic and social life on campus. The research results showed that non-KMI students experienced culture shock in the form of anxiety, confusion, and changes in perception of the dominant cultural values at UNIDA Gontor. Behavioral aspects also include difficulties in adapting to congregational worship procedures and the use of Arabic in daily communication. This research identified several factors that cause culture shock, such as differences in communication patterns, lifestyle, and lack of social support from the surrounding environment. However, through effective communication strategies, such as building intercultural communication skills and increasing social interaction, Non-KMI students can adapt better to campus culture. This research provides practical insights to support the adaptation process of Non-KMI students in Islamic boarding school-based educational environments and offers suggestions for strengthening cultural orientation and cross-cultural interaction programs at universities.
