Abstract

Kaili language is the language spoken in Central Sulawesi. as the native language, Kaili language plays an important role in the society. Therefore, as a local language, Kaili language needs to bemaintained and preserved. This research aimed at (1) describing and determining the forms of prepositionin Kaili language and (2) describing the function of prepositions in the sentence. Interview was doneas the method of the research. The results show that there are two forms of prepositions in Kaili Language. They are single preposition and combined preposition. Single preposition consists of rootword and prefix preposition while combined preposition consists of adjoining preposition, correlated preposition, and locative nominal preposition. Prepositions in Kaili language may function as placemarker, causative marker, manner marker, time marker, purposive marker, and comparative marker.

Abstract

Communication has been a part of human life. as social beings, people always want to get connected. In other words, communication is fundamental for a person in social life. When communicating, people deliver messages to others. in order for the messages to be delivered, text with which language is the medium is required. Therefore, text has a very important role as a means of social adaptation. In 2013, Agency of Language Development and Fostering launched 2013 curriculum with text-based-learning scheme to bring a new paradigm for education in Indonesia. Textual learning enables children to resolve real-life problems with critical thinking and to engage with social adaptation. in the process of adaptation,individual delivers thoughts, ideas, messages through text with which language is the medium. This study used descriptive method to obtain the description of text use as a means of social adaptation. by examining Indonesia Language Textbook in I, IV, VII, and X grade, it can be concluded that every text has different social function together with different communication purpose among human beings.

Abstract

This research aimed at revealing the personalities of the main character in the novel “Nynyian Batanghari” by Harry. B. Kori’un (HBK). Approach to address this problem was the literary psychological approach that emphasized on the theory of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis. The research was focused on the characteristics of the main characters with characterization method, while the researcher used psychoanalysis to analyze the characteristics of the main character. Freud divided the structure of human personality into three components; id, ego, and superego. The technique of collecting data was conducted by reading and taking notes. The characteristics found in the novel were vindictive, brave, stubborn,reliable, desperate, helpful, and regretful. The personality of the main character in Kori’un’s Nyanyian Batanghari was dominated by id-influencing-characteristics. The dominance of id in the main character’spersonality caused her personality to be patterned pleasure principle, so that the individual tends to be have recklessly and aims only at achieving pleasure. That is why the main character’s personality tends to be idealistic and emotional.

Abstract

Personal pronouns in Muna Language are different with Indonesian language or any other vernacular languages. This writing aimed at describing the forms of personal pronouns in Mula language. The methods used for data collection are observation, conversation, and introspection. Data were then analyzed with unified intralingual method. The results indicated two forms of personal pronouns in Muna language. First, personal pronoun that can stand alone as free morphem comprising of personal pronoun I (inodi/indodi/idi ‘I”; intaidi ‘we both’; and intaidi:mu ‘we all’); (b) personal pronoun II(ihintu ‘you’ and ihintuumu or ihintoomu ‘you all’); (c) personal pronoun III (anoa ‘he/she’ and andoa‘they’). Second, personal pronouns which are appended to the basic form of verbs, adjectives, and nouns as bound morpheme. These pronouns are (a) ae-, a-, ao-, -mu, and -kanau meaning ‘I’; (b) dae-, da-, dao-, da-e, and -nto meaning ‘we both’; (c) tae-, tao-, ta-, ta- ... -e, -mani, and -kasami meaning‘we’; (d) omo-, ome-, o-, -gho, o-... -e, and -mu meaning ‘you’; (e) omo- ... -mu, ome- ... -mu, o- ... -e:mu, -gho:mu, and -omu meaning ‘you all’; (f) nae-, ne-, -no, -ane, and no- ... -e meaning ‘she/he’;(g) dae-, do-, de-, -nda, -ndo, and do- ... -e meaning ‘they’. Personal pronouns in the form of morphemes are appended to the basic form of verbs, adjectives, and nouns such as prefixes, suffixes, and simulfix.

This research aimed at to know the character in “Tangan-Tangan Mungil Melukis Langit” anthlology is viewed from children psychology used qualitative descriptive method and library research technique.The analysis result describing the characters in “Tangan-Tangan Mungil Melukis Langit” anthology are about the scary Faiz could change the scared, the loving Caca seek the way to delight her sister,Cici and Lili, her intrepid rabbit who infiltrate the cat kingdom bravely, the generous Rafifah gives her hard-earned money proudly, Character Dirti is spoiled, dependent, cranky, bossy and annoying, andalso the helpful Aidan is defender of the weak got the power when the blue light against him.

Abstract

This researchaimed atobtainingan overall description of the mesandlevels in the novel Saman by AyuUtami and Nayla by Djenar Maesa Ayu. The method used was descriptive qualitative method. Theresults of this research showed that these two novels not only addressed the sexual exploitation, butalso addressed other issues which were more complex. Quantitatively, the occurrences of events, categorization of main theme levels within these two novels were among the theme of social levels.

Abstract

Speech acts not only to say something but also everyone has purpose in every word they said in communication. Illocutionary acts is a speech acts used not only to say something but also to do something. The aims of this research are (1) to identify and analyze the function of illocutionary acts by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy in ILC (Indonesia Lawyers Club) talk show in TV One and (2) to determine illocutionary acts politeness by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy on that talk show. Method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method and the collecting data techniques used are observation and noting. Data resources are taken randomly from ILC (Indonesia Lawyers Club) talk show video on you tube with eight different titles from September 2009 – Mei 2014. Theoretical frame used is Leech Concept (1993) to analyze illocutionary act function by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy and to determine the politeness of illocutionary acts by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy is Lakoff Theory in Chaer (2010). It can can be concluded that the function of illocutionary acts by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy on ILC (Indonesia Lawyers Club) talk show, supporting Leech Concept (1993) about function of illocutionary acts. There are four functions found: competitive, convivial, collaborative and conflictive. These findings support Lakoff Theory on Chaer (2010) as found three scales of politeness: formality scale, hesitancy scale and equality scale. The research “Illocutionary Acts by Prof. J. E. Sahetapy in ILC (Indonesia Lawyers Club) Talk Show only identify illocutionary acts, functions and politeness, so further research needs to be conducted.

Abstract

This research aims at discussing about mouth meronymy or what is known as vocabulary which is clustered on mount shaper element. In Indonesian language, there are 25 words which refer to element of mouth, but there are only nine vocabularies that include in direct meronymy of mouth. All of words which can be classified as meronymy of mouth are words whose lexical meanings show their position on epiglottis.

Abstract

Ambonese Malay is classified as a dialect of the standard Malay language spoken in Maluku Province including Ambon City, Ambon Island, Lease islands of Saparua, Haruku and Nusa Laut and Buano Island, Manipa Island, Kelang island, Seram island. In addition, this language is also used as a trading language in Kei, Banda, Watubela Islands, Buru Island, Southeast Maluku to Southwest Maluku. Ambonese Malay has 2-2.5 million speakers spreading throughout the Maluku Islands. Ambonese Malay is included in the Malay Polynesian family. To preserve Ambonese Malay, it is necessary to study the characteristics of phonemes of Ambonese Malay and its distribution in word. This study aims to determine the number of Ambonese Malay’s phonemes and its distribution in the word. The method used is descriptive qualitative method. The results show that the phoneme contained in Ambonese Malay consists of eighteen consonant phonemes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand the form of inner conflict in the main characters and positive messages the author shared. The problem of this research is how the form of inner conflict of the main character and what positive messages the author shared. This study uses analytical descriptive methodology. Based on the results of the analysis, it showed that the inner conflict of the main character is a medium of the writer to convey the author’s positive messages to the readers. It is primarily concerned with the inner conflict of moral and pessimistic the main character feels for the success of a struggle that should not have existed.
