Abstract

Objective: One of the efforts in realizing quality human resources is the guarantee of health quality. One of the indicators used to measure the quality of health is infant mortality rate (IMR). LBW is one of the main causes of infant mortality, with 40% of all child deaths occurring during the neonatal period. Cumulatively, about 15.5% of all deliveries are LBW and 95.6% occur in developing countries. (Sari 2021). Anemia that occurs during pregnancy is one of the major problems that occur. The impact caused by anemia in pregnant women is a variety of complications for the mother, in the form of pregnancy disorders, especially in the fetus such as Low Birth Weight Infants (LBW), impaired growth of the baby's organs and brain, and malnutrition or malformations in the baby who is born. (Audrey and Candra 2016) Methods: The research method used is observational research. The research design is descriptive analytic with a cross-sectional study approach. Results: The sampling technique in this study used Non Probability Sampling, namely Purposive Sampling. The number of samples was 47 babies with LBW during 2021.Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between anemia in pregnancy and the incidence of low birth weight (LBW) in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Lawawoi, Sidrap Regency, obtained a p value = 0.001 ˂ 0.05 (α).

Abstract

Menstruation is a natural process that marks the phase of puberty in young women. Personal hygiene during menstruation plays an important role in a person's health status, especially avoiding disturbances in the functioning of the reproductive apparatus. During menstruation, blood vessels in the uterus are very easily infected, because germs are easier to enter, infections that occur can cause various diseases of the reproductive apparatus. Therefore, young women should take care of and apply proper personal hygiene during menstruation. This type of research is analytical observational with a cross sectional design. The results showed that variables that had a relationship with personal hygiene measures during menstruation in young women of Waimangura Christian Junior High School included attitudes (P-value = 0.016), availability of facilities (P-value = 0.036), and maternal support (P-value = 0.0). Meanwhile, the variable that has no relationship with personal hygiene measures during menstruation in young women of Waimangura Christian Junior High School is knowledge (P-value = 0.220).

Abstract

Background: Anemia of pregnancy in pregnant women is characterized by Hb levels lower than 11 g%. Anemia of pregnancy is often a "potential danger to mother and child." Anemia conditions increase the risk of sepsis, bleeding and even death in the mother, prematurity, perinatal death, and low birth weight. From some of the literature it is stated that the factors for the occurrence of anemia in pregnant women consist of the mother's age, parity, level of knowledge, and behavior or adherence to consuming iron/Fe tablets. Objective: To identify and analyze the factors that are related or dominantly influence the incidence of anemia in third trimester pregnant women at the Sangiang Community Health Center, Tangerang City in 2022.Methods: This research includes analytic observational design with case control population data and samples using secondary medical record data from October-November 2022. The subjects of this study were 36 third trimester pregnant women as samples and were taken using a purposive random sampling technique. Analysis of univariate bivariate and multivariate data using the frequency distribution, bivariate with chi-square test followed by a regression test for multivariate analysis.Result: The results showed that the characteristics of third trimester pregnant women were more in pregnant women with age not at risk (63.9%), parity not at risk (55.6%), high school/vocational school education level (33.3%), working (55.6%). The factor that is significantly related to anemia in pregnant women is the behavior of third trimester pregnant women in consuming Fe tablets (p-value: 0.005; OR: 0.600). Factors that were not related to anemia were mother's knowledge (p-value: 0.613 OR 1.875), parity (p-value: 0.191 OR 1.760), mother's age (p-value: 0.301, OR 1.800).Conclusions: The risk factors that jointly influence the incidence of anemia in third trimester pregnant women are mother's knowledge, parity, and age of mother. The factors that have the greatest influence on the incidence of anemia are compliance/behavior of pregnant women in consuming Fe tablets, then knowledge of the mother, parity, and age of the mother

Abstract

Background: The mortality of 88% of infants due to infection can be reduced by breastfeeding, but the lack of understanding of the importance of breastfeeding for infants has resulted in the exclusive breastfeeding program not taking place optimally. Mother's understanding in breastfeeding cannot be separated from various factors that influence it.Objective: This study aims to determine the factors related to exclusive breastfeeding in Sukamerta Village, Rawamerta District in 2022.Methods: This research method used an observational analytic research design with a cross sectional design with independent variables including age, education, occupation, parity, and gestational distance, while the dependent variable is exclusive breastfeeding. The population in this study were mothers who had babies aged 6-12 totaling 52 people using a purposive sampling technique and a total sample that made the entire population as a sample. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis to explain the characteristics of the study and bivariate analysis using SPSS chy-square test.Result: The results of this study found that the relationship between age and exclusive breastfeeding was seen as the Asymp.sign value of 0.120, because the p-value was 0.120 > 0.05. The relationship between education and exclusive breastfeeding shows the Asymp.sign value of 0.456, because the p-value is 0.456 > 0.05. The relationship between employment and exclusive breastfeeding is seen as the Asymp.sign value of 0.000, because the p-value is 0.000 <0.05. The relationship between parity and exclusive breastfeeding was seen as the Asymp.sign value of 0.011 because the p-value was 0.011 < 0.05. The relationship between pregnancy distance and exclusive breastfeeding was seen as the Asymp.sign value of 0.001 because the p-value was 0.001 < 0.05.Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between age and education with exclusive breastfeeding, but there is a relationship between work, parity, and distance between pregnancies and exclusive breastfeeding

Abstract

Background: Stunting is an obstacle to growth and development that occurs in children. Stunting is caused by many factors, namely poor care, limited access to health services, lack of consumption of nutritious food, lack of access to clean water, and poor environmental sanitation. From several previous studies there have been various results regarding environmental factors that affect stunting but are still inconsistent and comprehensive. Therefore, this study is to analyze the environmental risk factors for stunting in toddlers more comprehensively. Methods: This research uses the literature review approach method. Articles come from journal databases including Science Direct, Scopus, EBS cohost, Cambridge Core, Proquest, EMBASE, Nature, E- Prints, E- Prints2, E-Catalog, Research Gate, SSRN, JSTOR, IGI Global, ASCE, Springer Link, Emerald Insight, Oxford Journals, Clinicalkey, Semantic Scholar, Pubmed, Arxiv, Garuda, Publons, Academia. Search results in the journal database obtained 590 articles about the environment, stunting, and toddlers with a vulnerable period of 10 years (2012 to 2022). The article obtained is designed for cross-sectional, case control and cohort research. Inclusion criteria such as duplication identification, title screening, abstract screening, and eligibility of full text articles obtained 14 articles corresponding to 9 articles in international journals and 5 articles in national journals.Result: The results of the 14 articles analyzed show that there is a relationship between environmental risk factors and stunting events in toddlers, environmental risk factors are a combination of several factors (multi-dimensional factors). The results of the study with cohort, case control, and cross sectional designs stated that poor WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) interventions, water (inappropriate drinking water sources, drinking water treatment), sanitation factors (use of toilet facilities, open defecation behavior, disposal of toddler feces not in latrines), EED (environmental enteric dysfunction), children's habit of playing in agricultural land, pesticide exposure, washing sprayers, spraying, frequency and duration of diarrhea, frequency and duration of ARI are related to the incidence of stunting in toddlers. As for the cohort design, it states that environmental factors that influence stunting cases in toddlers are improper environmental sanitation, drinking water sources, and open defecation behavior. Conclusions:  The severity of stunting cases in society is related and influenced by multidimensional factors, the most powerful environmental risk factors are factors of improper environmental sanitation, water infrastructure, and open defecation behavior (BABS), although it does not deny that there are other supporting factors such as ANC, Family economy, and exclusive breastfeeding.
