Abstract

This study aims to deeply explore the role of the principal in improving teacher performance by emphasising three main approaches: managerial, supervisory, and motivational. This study employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five teachers with more than ten years of work experience. Data were then verified through classroom observations and school document analysis to ensure the validity of the information. Data analysis was conducted using thematic techniques to identify patterns of the principal's role in daily practice. The results indicate that the principal strategically builds a conducive work environment, provides clear direction through academic supervision, and encourages teacher motivation with rewards and professional development opportunities. Collaboration between the principal and teachers has been shown to increase the effectiveness of the learning process and help schools achieve educational quality targets. This study concludes that effective principal leadership is a determining factor in successful teacher performance in remote areas. The implications of this study emphasise the importance of principal leadership competency development programs and provide input for formulating educational policies in areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

This research examines trends in published works on school cultural openness and teacher communication skills, specifically how they contribute to enhancing school effectiveness when parents are actively involved. We aimed to chart citation patterns within Scopus and Google Scholar, identifying both key research themes and fresh insights through bibliometric data. Starting with 2086 initial records, we carefully selected 124 articles directly relevant to our inquiry. To achieve our research goals, we conducted a descriptive analysis of publication and citation trends from 2015 to 2025 using Excel, and also performed a citation analysis to identify the most influential authors. Additionally, a VOSviewer-based keyword co-occurrence analysis helped us visualise topic clusters and their relationships, revealing dominant themes and the direction research is moving. The results demonstrate a strong link between a school's open culture, teachers' communication skills, and improved school dynamics, particularly with active parent involvement. This makes a significant theoretical contribution to Education, underscoring the importance of prioritising inclusive, culturally responsive communication and structured parent engagement in school policies and programs. Our research also points out that the integrated connection between school cultural openness and teacher communication in enhancing school effectiveness through parent involvement is rarely discussed comprehensively. Therefore, we propose parental involvement as a moderating variable that can strengthen this relationship. It also opens avenues for future research that are more integrative and consider various contexts, aiming to create learning environments that are both inclusive and competitive.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of information digitization in the governance of Islamic boarding schools based on the principles of Good Governance. A descriptive qualitative approach with field-based case study methods was employed. Data were collected through literature review—drawing on accredited national journals, academic books, research reports, legal regulations, and relevant scientific articles—and through direct observation and documentation of digital practices in several Islamic boarding schools in the Kalimantan and Java regions. The analysis focused on themes such as the role of kiai in institutional management, the Islamic boarding school education system, the digital transformation of religious institutions, and the implementation of sound governance principles from an Islamic perspective. The findings reveal that several pesantren have adopted digital management applications, institutional social media platforms, and integrated financial and administrative reporting systems. These digital transformations have enhanced institutional transparency, managerial efficiency, and public accountability. The study concludes that information digitization is a strategic tool for establishing modern and accountable Islamic school governance. The implications highlight the need for improved digital infrastructure, increased technological literacy among pesantren stakeholders, and integrating Islamic values into technology-based governance to ensure sustainable institutional transformation.

Abstract

This paper seeks to review the current policies related to the application of wearable devices in education in Southeast Asia, focusing on privacy protection and compliance issues. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was performed according to PRISMA guidelines, considering the PICOS components. Relevant articles were searched in Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, PubMed, and regional databases from 2015 to 2025. Results show significant differences in policy formulation and implementation among ASEAN member states, of which only 32% of the surveyed institutions have a full-fledged policy covering wearable technology. Significant challenges include divergent approaches to data protection, varying levels of institutional capacity, and limited awareness of privacy rights amongst privacy stakeholders. The study finds that the current frameworks must be better integrated to ensure that advancing technological innovation is balanced with solid privacy protection. These results have theoretical implications for educational digital rights and practical implications for policymakers, educators, and technology developers to promote ethical technology use and security.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of public relations (PR) management in enhancing public trust in Islamic educational institutions, focusing on Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur'an (MQ) Tebuireng Jombang. A qualitative phenomenological research design was employed to capture stakeholders' lived experiences and practices in managing PR activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed through data condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PR strategies at MQ Tebuireng are implemented through several key programs. These include journalism training to nurture students' communication skills, social media management to broaden institutional outreach, publication of students' works to showcase pesantren achievements, and public speaking training to improve students' confidence in representing the institution. In addition, word-of-mouth promotion involving alums, parents, and teachers is vital in expanding the pesantren's reputation into the broader community. Leadership initiatives also significantly promote a positive institutional image and encourage participation in social activities. The study concludes that effective and strategic PR management enhances public trust and strengthens the institution's sustainability. The implication is that Islamic boarding schools must integrate structured and professional PR programs into their management systems to improve credibility, foster social legitimacy, and ensure long-term institutional development.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the key social and technological factors influencing the adoption of digital library services among young users and to formulate innovative strategies that enhance library attractiveness in the digital era. A quantitative approach was employed, using multiple linear regression analysis of survey data collected from 210 respondents across several urban public and academic libraries, complemented by 20 semi-structured interviews with active users and library managers. Data were processed with SPSS to examine the effects of perceived usefulness, ease of use, social norms, and environmental support on digital service adoption. The findings indicate that perceived benefits (β=0.42, p<0.01) and ease of use (β=0.35, p<0.01) significantly influence user interest in adopting digital services, while social norms and environmental support (β=0.25, p<0.05) also play important reinforcing roles. Conversely, factors such as self-confidence and perceived risks show weaker effects, suggesting the need for further psychological exploration. Interview data highlight that interactive features, active promotion, and user-friendly interfaces are crucial in shaping positive experiences and increasing adoption. The study strengthens the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with psychosocial perspectives and provides practical strategies for adaptive, user-oriented, and culturally relevant library services. Future initiatives should expand research into rural libraries and integrate cultural variables to ensure inclusive and sustainable digital transformation strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the direct and indirect effects of leadership style, teacher stress, and workload on teacher performance, with job satisfaction as a mediating variable. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), data were collected from 303 teachers in Tungkal Ilir District, West Tanjung Jabung Regency, Indonesia, through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire. The results reveal that leadership style and workload significantly enhance job satisfaction, positively affecting teacher performance (β = 0.330; p < 0.05). Job satisfaction mediates the influence of leadership and workload on performance, highlighting its central role in teacher management. The model demonstrates strong predictive power (R² = 81.6% for teacher performance). These findings suggest that supportive leadership and fair workload distribution can transform workplace challenges into positive motivation. The study provides practical insights for educational policymakers and school leaders to design management strategies that foster teacher satisfaction and performance, particularly in rural education contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how prophetic supervision contributes to the transformation and strengthening of quality culture in Islamic education at MAN Kotawaringin Timur. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key patterns of change in the institution’s quality practices. The findings reveal several core aspects of cultural transformation: the strengthening of a value-based quality culture; the growth of teachers’ moral and professional motivation; the emergence of transformative leadership through spiritually grounded supervision; increased teacher participation in professional development; and the institutionalization of continuous improvement supported by reflective religious practices. The study concludes that prophetic supervision effectively integrates technical guidance with moral-spiritual development, shaping a more ethical, collaborative, and improvement-oriented educational environment. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of Islamic educational supervision by demonstrating how prophetic values can serve as a practical framework for enhancing quality culture. Practically, it offers a model for madrasah leaders to implement spiritually rooted supervision strategies that reinforce professionalism and institutional cohesion. The novelty of this study lies in its empirical demonstration of how prophetic supervision operates as a cultural transformation mechanism within Islamic educational institutions, an area that has received limited attention in previous research.
