Abstract

This study aims to determine the activity of ethanol extract of Aloe vera leaves against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and Candida albicans fungi. Extraction of aloe vera leaves is done by maceration method, then extracted several concentrations, namely 2.5%, 3.5%, and 4.5% for Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and concentrations of 4%, 8% and 12% for Candida albicans fungi. The inhibitory testing is done by agar diffusion method. The test results showed that the ethanol extract of Aloe vera leaves had antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus and anti-fungal Candida albicans which was characterized by the presence of a clear zone. In Staphylococcus aureus bacteria provide optimum inhibition zone at a concentration of 4.5% with a diameter of 10.8 mm while in, the fungus Candida albicans provides the optimum inhibition zone at a concentration of 12% with a diameter of resistance 18.87 mm. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of storage time of broiler chicken on its quality in terms of protein content and total bacterial plate number. This research was conducted on 11-19 December 2017. The design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments consisting of 2 days of storage (A1), 4 days (A2) and 6 days (A3) and the number of replications is 3 replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA. Sample analysis was carried out in the MIPA laboratory at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Ambon IAIN and Pattimura University Basic Chemistry Laboratory. The results showed that there was an effect of the length of storage of broiler chicken on protein levels and total bacterial plate numbers. The effect of broiler chicken meat storage on protein content was 14.2% while the effect of broiler chicken storage on the total plate number of bacteria was 12.7%. Abstract

The difference in accumulation of lead and mercury heavy metals in water, sediments and seagrass organs Enhalus acoroides (roots, rhizomes and leaves) is found in the waters of Kayeli Bay, Buru Island, Maluku Province. Samples were taken from ten observed station (Kayeli River Estuary, Suket River Estuary, Anahoni River Estuary, Waelata I Estuary, Waelata River Estuary II, Waeapo River Estuary, Sanleko River Estuary, Marlosso River Estuary, Nametek Beach and Jikumerasa Beach). Pb and Hg were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The content of Pb and Hg in sediments is higher than in water. The highest Pb and Hg content is found in the roots then in the rhizoma and leaves (roots> rhizoma> leaves). Seagrass Enhalus acoroides is one of the living organisms that can be used as a bio-indicator of the level of heavy metal pollution in the aquatic environment. Abstract

This type of research is quantitative laboratory experiments. This research was conducted for 2 weeks starting from 13-25 September 2018, at the IAIN MIPA Laboratory in Ambon. The object of this research is corn stem waste found in Waiheru Village, Ambon City, Maluku Province. The results showed that there was a treatment of 1% yeast concentration producing the lowest bioethanol level of 0.26%. Whereas, 4% yeast concentration with 6 days fermentation time produced the highest bioethanol level which was equal to 1.25%. In the treatment of 1% yeast concentration produced the lowest volume of bioethanol which was equal to 92.666 ml. Meanwhile, the treatment of 4% yeast concentration produced the highest volume of bioethanol of 97,333 ml. Key Words: Saccharomyces ceriveceae, Bioethanol Production, Corn Stalks

Abstract

Plant biomass from waste agricultural can be transformed to useful like bioethanol and organic fertilizer in industry and agriculture using bacterial cellulase is one alternative to convert cellulose become organic fertilizer. This research had an objective to obtain potential bacterial cellulase isolated from the soil around of cowshed in Institut Pertanian Bogor. Bacteria were isolated from soil had used serial dilution that spread in 1% Carboxy Methyl Cellulose Medium (CMC 1%) and it's incubated at 37oC for 48 hours. Qualitative test for bacteria producing cellulose was carried out by picking the selected colony in the centered of CMC medium with adding congo red 1%. Based on the results were obtained three potential isolates could produce cellulose that were KS 0.1, KS 0.7 and KS 9.1. The highest cellulolytic index is 1.33 that produced by KS 0.1. The test quantitative activity of KS 0.1 using spectrophotometry method showed that the highest of enzyme activity at the first day and lowest eighth day during incubation period. Abstract

The research was conduccted in Yoiha sub-village Letti District at Maluku Barat Daya regency for two months. The objective of the research was to study growth of Lakor goat fed native grass basal diet with kesambi leaf, specifically, this research was aimed to determine percentage of kesambi leaf and its effects on Lakor goat growth. The research was arranged into a Simple Randomized Design with five treatments and three replications. Kesambi Leaf was offered at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% to subtitute native grass.
