Abstract

The aims of this study are to (1) describe the development of game media in Indonesian language learning; (2) reveal the level of interest in using game media in an effective learning process requires media in Indonesian language learning; and (3) knowing the level of effectiveness of using game media in learning Indonesian. This research is development research, with data collection steps according to the development model according to Borg & Gall. The stages taken in this research are limited to seven stages, namely research and information collecting, planning, developing the preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing, and operational product revision. The results of the research show that: (1) the development of learning media based on Android games with the support of the Netbeans 12.4 product oracle software; (2) students have a positive attitude towards the product by 81% in the "very interesting" category; (3) the level of effectiveness of using game media in learning Indonesian is 82% or very effective. Based on the results of these studies, it can be concluded that web-based games can be used to support learning media for high school students.

Abstract

This research was conducted to overcome the limitations of teaching materials in explanatory text learning. This study aims to describe the process of developing a valid, practical, and effective electronic module for learning to write explanatory text assisted by the Flipping Book PDF Professional application, which class XI Vocational School students use. This type of research is research and development (research and development). The development model is 4-D, defining, designing, developing, and deploying. The research subjects were class XI PH 1 SMK Negeri 9 Padang students, totaling 30 people. The results showed that the electronic module product, with the help of the Flipping Book PDF Professional application developed, got valid data from the validator with an average of 96.17% in the very valid category. This product is also considered efficient, with an average of 91.66% from teachers in the efficient category and 86.38% from students in the efficient category. In addition, this product can also increase the value of student learning outcomes. In the knowledge test, the average score was 87% with an "A" predicate, while in the skill test, an average was 88.22% with an "A" predicate. Then, the assessment of student attitudes when studying got an average of 91.33% with an "A" predicate.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of the human-nature relationship in the Jungle (2017) movie. Jungle movie presents the mindset and behavior of men through four male characters (Yossi, Marcus, Kevin, and Karl) towards the wild (wilderness) as a masculinity framework. Using a qualitative method with an ecocriticism approach, especially related to ecological masculinity by Hultman and Pulé, this study shows how the construction of human-nature relationships through masculinity framework presents ecological masculinity as a form of hegemonic masculinity negotiation. The analysis focuses on two aspects of film studies: narrative and cinematographic by Bogss and Petrie. The results of this study indicate that in the depiction of nature through the Amazon Forest, nature is positioned as something dangerous, wild, scary, and capable of killing humans. Therefore, nature is represented as an entity that dominates humans. However, men's mindset and behavior towards nature present the illusion of a human versus nature dichotomy; in this case, the Jungle movie tries to present a critique of anthropocentrism. In addition, the mindset and behavior of male characters toward nature represent male masculinity models, especially ecological masculinity, as an alternative to hegemonic masculinity.

Abstract

The research study on the transfer of the story “Kedai Kopi Odyssey” by Leopold A. Surya Indrawan in the short story collection “Particles of God” Kompas 2014 aims to examine the process of converting stories into drama scripts and also analyze the social values contained therein. The selection of stories is based on the content of stories that contain social conflict. It is related to the approach used by the researcher, namely the sociology of literature approach. In addition to the sociology of literature approach, the researcher examines the process of transferring the story of “Kedai Kopi Odyssey” into a drama script. The analysis process is based on the intrinsic and extrinsic elements of literary works, then on transferring stories into drama scripts. Based on the analysis results, social values such as the value of tolerance and changes in sentence and diction in translating stories into drama scripts.

Abstract

Activity after reading (post-reading) is the stage where a reader responds to what he has read. At this stage, it is hoped that there will be changes from readers, changes in mindset, understanding, and increasing knowledge. This study describes the implementation of activities after reading carried out by students independently and structured. This research is a descriptive survey. Data were obtained from questionnaires distributed to 246 students and 11 lecturers of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Departments, Raja Ali Haji Maritime University. The findings are, first, the majority of students read fiction when reading independently. After reading, students carry out various activities such as recording quotes, summarizing readings, recording difficult vocabulary, and discussing. Second, when reading in a structured way, students read a lot of non-fiction, such as reference books, scientific articles, research reports, handouts. Activities carried out after structured reading are writing activities such as summarizing, compiling presentation materials, writing reports, and writing reviews. However, students' have obstacles when completing activities after reading, such as difficulty in concluding readings, understanding sentences, and reading vocabulary there that the expected results after reading are not optimal. These obstacles cause students to only rewrite (copy-paste) readings. Students have not yet reached the stage of how critical reading and building their mindset.

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) characters and characterizations; and (2) moral values ​​in fable stories. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The source of data in this study is a story entitled "Piwulang kanggo Cempe," "Anak Gajahlan Semut Ireng," and "Kancil kang Cerdik" contained in Djaka Lodang magazine. The research data collection techniques used were library techniques and note-taking techniques. The instrument used is the research itself. The data analysis technique uses qualitative analysis methods. The results showed: (1) the characters in the fable of "Piwulang Kanggo Cempe" are Babon Domba dan Anak Domba or Cempe, in the fable story “Anak Gajah Lan Semut Ireng” are Anak Gajah and Semut Ireng, and in the fable story "Kancil Kang Cerdik" is Kancil, Manuk Blekok, and Manuk Bangau. The characterizations are shown analytically and dramatically. Furthermore, the moral values ​​contained in the three fables are about obedience to parents, helping others, respecting others, being honest, and establishing friendships.

Abstract

This article examines the character values ​​contained in the children's story series "Little Abid Balita Cerdas & Saleh" by the Cordoba Kids Team. This children's story series consists of seven stories that tell the commendable behavior of a child named Abid. This character can be a role model for children, especially toddlers in planting character in a family. By using a qualitative descriptive method, the character values ​​contained in this children's story can be found, in relation to their representation in everyday life. The approach used in this study is the objective approach proposed by Abrams. Through this approach, the character values ​​contained in the seven series of children's stories will be seen through text structure analysis. Through the structure of the text, the character values ​​of the characters can be revealed. These values ​​include: divinity (religion), tolerance, honesty, compassion, generosity, respect for parents, courtesy, and cooperation. These character values ​​are very important in the pillars of children's character formation. These character values ​​are also a form of strengthening children's literacy in the family, especially at the age of toddlers.
