Abstract

Many students find difficult and uninteresting to learn mathematics. On the other hand, many teachers find problems in teaching certain concepts in mathematics. Consequently the learning achievement in mathematics in all grades is almost unsatisfactory. This classroom action research found an instructional model to overcome some problems faced by the students of the second grade at Pondok Rangon Primary School 02, East Jakarta. Applying this classroom action research in one cycle with two reflections, the teacher can improve the students’ learning achievement. This research suggests to do more modification of the instructional model in the following cycle to obtain better result.

Abstract

Health is actually a wealth for human life. Health quality is determined by one’s health condition and it will affect working productivity. The teacher’s healthy life, which can be built up continuously through living in his/her good and healthy environment, will also influence his/her teaching quality. The teacher is expected to become a model and motivate the students and the society to do a healthy life not only physically but also spiritually. To meet this expectation, the teacher should have a perfect healthy life.

Abstract

Indonesia has been making reforms in many aspects for more than eight years, but there is no strong indicator to show the multi dimension crisis ending soon. This article focuses the discussion on education aspect particularly its role in improving the quality of life of Indonesian people. In the line with the amendment of Constitution of 1945, the national education should have clear and appropriate vision and strategic planning to achieve the national objectives of education. This article emphasizes the role of local governments in implementing basic education program both in long and short terms.

Abstract

It is strongly believed that teacher’s professional competence and lecturer’s academic competence play significant role in improving the relevance and the quality of national education. This article therefore discusses teacher as a professional job and the reasons why the teachers must be professional in this 21st century, the program of teacher provision, lecturer as an academic human resource at higher education, and the financial implication of the teacher as professional job and the lecturers of higher education as scientific instructors. To end the article some notes on the problems discussed are presented in details.

Abstract

Each child has different and specific competence which needs to be developed as early as possible. The development of such competence depends on several factors such genetic inheritance and environment. The child’s creativity will develop well if it is maintained and motivated by outside stimuli. This can be done through creative learning. Logical thinking can be developed through mathematical intelligence. Creativity and logical thinking can be developed through fun learning activities

Abstract

Educational technology as a discipline can be explained by theory and practice. Educational technology as a theory based with empiric evidence as result of research. Educational technology as a practice is a recipe use as an alternative solution for students learning problems Teacher can apply learning recipe to optimize students learning result. This application used to help professional competence regarding the Undang-Undang Guru dan Dosen No. 14 Tahun 2005. Some of the applications are students’ analysis, learning process and grading.

Abstract

There are a number of factors influenced the student’s learning achievement. Two of them are learning style and learning motivation. This article describes how the two factors affect the learning achievement and how the teacher should consider each of them in instructional process. Acknowledging the different learning styles and motivations of the students, the teachers are expected to use variety of instructional methods and media that will meet the students’ characteristics. To do this, this article presents a list if suggestions.

Abstract

A country and her people could be well developed if there are available enough qualified human resources which are produced by educational institutions. This article discusses leadership, creativity, and life skills which are very important for human survival. The success of an organization to sustain and develop is much depends on the leadership practiced by the leaders within the organization. While individual or group creativity is required to find innovative solutions to overcome the problems effectively and efficiently. Finally, life skills are needed by everybody to enable him/her to survive successfully. The roles of education in developing leadership, creativity, and life skills are put forwards thoroughly.

Abstract

Kemajuan pendidikan suatu bangsa dapat diukur antara lain dari kemajuan industri buku yang dimilikinya. Pendidikan yang maju didukung oleh industri buku yang maju pula. Akan tetapi kemajuan industri buku di Indonesia belum berkembang dengan baik. Secara jumlah dan mutu, pengarang/penulis, penerbit, percetakan, penyalur/distributor buku serta masyarakat pembaca, belum memadai di bandingkan dengan negara-negara maju bahkan antar negara di kawasan Asean sendiri. Buku baru yang diterbitkan di Indonesia mencapai rata-rata 6000 judul buku termasuk di dalamnya hasil terjemahan. Oleh karena itu tidak mengherankan kalau buku-buku baru terbitan Indonesia tidak banyak terlihat di perpustakaan di Indonesia. Banyak siswa, mahasiswa, guru, dosen, dan peneliti mengalami kesulitan menemukan buku-buku terbitan Indonesia sebagai referensi.
