Abstract

The object ive of this research is to describe the meaning of song interpretation, titled Tikus-Tikus Kantor by Iwan Fals. The data were collected by listening some of Iwan Falss songs, choosing one of them, and transcripting the song Tikus-Tikus Kantor. The data were analyzed by describing each line of the song by using hermeneutic approach. This research showed that the song is about social critic to the coruption by government official and law enforcement.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the Dayak culture types which contained in the novel Batas and describe the existence of the culture with the conditions of modern society. This research uses a literary anthropological approach that encompasses tradition, customs, myths, and cultural events in past events. The literature study method is used to collect data. Source of data comes from Batas, while data is analyzed by descriptive analysis method.  The result of the analysis shows that Dayak culture in the novel Batas is a human life tool in the form of mandau and chopsticks; a livelihood in the form of farming and hunting; knowledge system in the form of shifting cultivation systems and preserving forests; social system in the form of custom fines and decapitaing; religious system in the form of spiritual animals, beliefs and Dayak devices; the language and literary system in the form of mantra.; and Dayak ethnic arts in the form of sound art and traditional musical instruments. Dayak culture has been eroded, but there is also a shift in value and meaning because it is no longer relevant to the condition of society today.

Abstract

Concretization is an expression meaning of the text as a whole. The meaning of the signs presented by the author is not an absolute truth. The generated meaning depends on the reader horizon which formed by the literary competence of readers. Through a semiotic approach, the short story entitled "Kunang-Kunang di Langit Jakarta". Agus Noor's work was made concrete to get the hidden meaning behind the story, so that the work becomes an aesthetic object. By using structural analysis through descriptive analysis method, this study reveals a view of the author about the events that occurred in Indonesia, the May 1998 riots. Konkretisasi merupakan pengungkapan makna teks secara keseluruhan. Pemaknaan terhadap tanda-tanda yang disuguhkan pengarang bukanlah sebuah kebenaran mutlak. Makna yang dihasilkan bergantung pada horizon pembaca yang terbentuk oleh kompetensi kesastraan pembaca. Melalui pendekatan semiotik, cerpen yang berjudul “Kunang-Kunang di Langit Jakarta” karya Agus Noor ini dikonkretkan untuk mendapatkan makna yang terselubung di balik cerita, sehingga menjadi objek yang estetis. Dengan menggunakan analisis struktural melalui metode deskriptif analitis, kajian ini mengungkapkan pandangan pengarang tentang sebuah peristiwa yang pernah terjadi di Indonesia, yaitu kerusuhan Mei 1998.

Abstract

The paper is aimed at describing a language variation, that is Ulakpatian Bonai isolect in Riau Province. This is a kind of historical linguistic study which is objected to describe a phonological inovation process of denasalisation among nasal phonemes at final positions or at close ultimate sillables in an isolect used by Bonai tribe in Ulakpatian, Rokan Hulu District, Riau Province. Analysis of inavation is based on protomalayic (PM) which is reconstructed by Adelaar.The research applicates top-down method of anaysis which are gaining the results by deductive process. Data of this research are oral speech of Bonai people based on 200 Swadesh words. The data are gathered by conversational and listening methods which applied several techniques. The results of the analysis are presented by formal and informal methods. The research findings reveal that the language of the tribe shows three kinds of denasalisation of phonological innovation at final position which have changed the nasal phonemes of *PM to unnasal ones in isolek Bonai Ulakpatian: (*PM > BU) , i.e. 1) PM *n/-# >  []/-#,  2) PM *m/-# > [p]/-#, dan 3) PM * /# > [g]/-#.

Abstract

The object ive of this research is to find out the origin of phone / / in BMDK. In order to reach the goal, this research uses the data in forms of 100 words listed in the Swadesh Form. The Data were obtained by the mapping team of local language of Balai Bahasa Provinsi Riau. The data were analyzed with descriptive method, dialectology theory and linguistic history. The research findings show that phone / / in BDMK does not come from /"/ which is one of the characteristics of BMK, but from /o/ which is one of the characteristics of BM.

Abstract

The king is a leader as divine manifestation. Every command and decision must be obeyed and executed as evidence of devotion. The king who was still obeyed by his people despite experiencing uncommon events among the king is Hamengku Buwana VII. The story of Hamengku Buwana VII setback from the king’s chair is described in the contents of Serat Saptastha manuscript and stored in the museum Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta. Serat Saptastha manuscript belongs to the historical manuscript because it contains the history of the transition of power from Hamengku Buwana VII to his son named Pangeran Adipati Anom who then was crowned as Hamengku Buwana VIII after Hamengku Buwana VII chose to leave his kingdom and settle in Ambarukma. The method used in this paper is content analysis with literature sociology approach. This paper shows that the manuscript of Serat Saptastha can depict the figure of Hamengku Buwana VII as the king of courageous and authoritative despite the lengser keprabon experience. The image of humanism displayed by Hamengku Buwana VII in the Serat Saptastha shows the attitude of kawicaksanaan, courage, and dignity

Abstract

The research is aimed at describing nouns of Sungai Jalau isolect. The analysis is focused on two: (1) the classifications, forms and characteristics of nouns, and (2) syntactical functions of nouns. This is a qualitative—descriptive research.  The research is using conversation method and listening method by doing observation and recording techniques. The method of data analysis  is classification method.  The result shows that nouns of Sungai Jalau isolect as follows; (1) nouns are classified into two;  basic form and generated form; noun can be in monomorphemics and polymorphemics; noun can be generated by affixation, duplicating, and  compounding with other nouns; noun can be added by adjective and can be lengthened by adding nan ‘that’, and (2) noun has syntactical functions as subject, object, and complement in a sentence.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nomina isolek Sungai Jalau. Analisis difokuskan pada (1) klasifikasi, ciri-ciri, dan bentuk-bentuk nomina,  dan (2)  fungsi sintaksisnya. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif —kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode cakap dan metode simak  dengan mengguna kan teknik observasi dan teknik catat. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nomina isolek Sungai Jalau sebagai berikut; (1) nomina dikelompokkan atas dua bentuk; bentuk dasar dan bentuk turunan;  nomina bisa be rbentuk morfem tunggal dan morfem jamak; nomina dapat diturunkan dengan afiksasi, duplikasi, dan penjamakan; nomina dapat gabungkan dengan adjektiva dan dapat diikuti oleh nan ‘yang’, dan (2) nomina memiliki fungsi sintaktis sebagai subjek, objek, atau keterangan.

Abstract

This paper analyzes some pantun batobo using structural theory of semiotics. Pantun batobo  is rhyme sung by the members of tobo when conducting batobo (mutual cooperation   working the fields). Pantun batobo as objects in this article was obtained from the sources (tobo actors) in Taratak Village, Rumbio Jaya District, Kampar Regency. A hundred pantun collected, only four pantun were analyzed that writer categorized into humble themed. The results of the analysis shows that pantun humble themed is structurally semiotic. Pantun Batobo  is a text that is rich both in structure (shape) and semiotics (the use of signs). Pantun batobo is not only attract the level of form, but also interesting in terms of content and meaning, so there is a balance between form and content. In structure, pantun batobo have certain patterns, such as rhyme and the number of words and syllables are in lines of poem, while in semiotics, pantun batobo has layers of meaning. Tulisan ini menganalisis beberapa pantun batobo dengan menggunakan teori struktural semiotik. Pantun batobo adalah pantun yang didendangkan oleh para anggota tobo ketika melakukan kegiatan batobo (bergotong royong di ladang mengerjakan sawah). Pantun batobo sebagai objek dalam tulisan ini diperoleh dari para narasumber (para pelaku tobo) di Desa Taratak, Kecamatan Rumbio Jaya, Kabupaten Kampar. Dari seratus pantun yang dikumpulkan, hanya dianalisis empat pantun yang penulis golongkan ke dalam pantun bertema merendah diri. Adapun hasil dari analisis pantun bertema merendah diri secara struktural semiotik yaitu pantun batobo merupakan sebuah teks yang kaya baik secara struktur (bentuk) dan semiotik (penggunaan tanda-tanda). Pantun batobo bukan hanya menarik dalam tataran bentuk, tetapi juga menarik dalam hal isi dan makna, sehingga terdapat keseimbangan antara bentuk dan isi. Secara struktur, pantun batobo memiliki pola tertentu, seperti rima serta jumlah kata dan suku kata yang terdapat pada baris pantun, sedangkan secara semiotik, pantun batobo memiliki lapis-lapis makna.

Abstract

There is inadequate number of research on “toka-toki” of Kuantan Singingi at the present time. In consequence, there is insufficient extensive knowledge about the speakers, the time of usage, the language used, and the function of the “toka-toki”. In this study,  those elements become  the object of the research analysis. The method used in the analysis is qualitative descriptive method. The data was obtained from the field and also literature. The implementation phase of this study were (1) collecting data, namely by asking about the desired data related to the speaker, time, language, and “toka-toki” function to the informant, (2) the phase of analyzing the data, and (3) the phase of making conclusion. From this study, it was concluded that the speakers of “toka–toki” in the Kuantan Singingi are not limited to the age levels, the social levels, and education levels. Actually there is no specific time of the implementation of this “toka-toki”. However, the game is often found when children play, after “mengaji” (reading Koran), or going to sleep in “surau”, drying rice, and looking for lice. The next conclusion, the question words used in implementing “toka-toki” are ‘siapo’; ‘sapo’ 'who' and ‘apo’ 'what' with some variations such as “apo ru”, “apo lo ru”, “apo tu”, “apo jie kilen”. In addition to the use of question words, “toka-toki” of Kuantan Singingi can use literal meaning and metaphorical meaning. Meanwhile, the function of the “toka-toki” Kuantan Singingi is to sharpen the mind and to deliver education and entertainment, and to tease others Penelitian mengenai toka-toki Kuantan Singingi belum banyak dilakukan. Hal tersebut menyebabkan pengetahuan mengenai penutur, waktu penggunaan, bahasa yang digunakan, dan fungsi toka-toki yang hidup di dalam masyarakat Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi juga masih minim. Di dalam penelitian ini, penutur, waktu, bahasa, dan fungsi toka-toki inilah yang dijadikan objek penelitian. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif. Data didapat dari lapangan dan juga kepustakaan. Tahap pelaksanaan penelitian ini adalah (1)  pengumpulan data, yaitu dengan bertanya mengenai data yang diinginkan berkaitan dengan penutur, waktu, bahasa, dan fungsi toka-toki kepada informan, (2) tahap penganalisisan data, dan (3) tahap pengambilan simpulan. Dari penelitian ini, disimpulkan bahwa penutur toka-toki di daerah Kuantan Singingi tidak terbatas pada tingkatan usia, tingkatan sosial, dan tingkatan pendidikan tertentu. Sebenarnya tidak ada waktu khusus pelaksanaan tokatoki ini. Akan tetapi, permainan ini sering dijumpai pada saat anak-anak bermain, sesudah mengaji, atau akan tidur di surau, menjemur padi, dan mencari kutu rambut. Simpulan selanjutnya, kata tanya yang dipergunakan di dalam bertoka-toki adalah kata siapo; sapo’siapa’ dan apo ‘apa’ dengan variasi apo ru, apo lo ru, apo tu, apo jie kilen. Selain penggunaan kata tanya, toka-toki Kuantan Singingi dapat menggunakan bahasa yang literal (harfiah) dan metaforis (kiasan). Sementara itu, fungsi dari toka-toki Kuantan Singingi adalah mengasah pikiran dan menyampaikan pendidikan, hiburan, dan menggoda orang lain.

Abstract

Literary has closed relationship with culture. Authors often include cultural elements to influence it in their literary works. It is also done by Javanese authors who write Indonesian novels. Some authors include the story of wayang in their novels. By analyzing with textual method, this research described wayang ethics that existed in four Indonesian novels. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the authors often include the elements from wayang story due to the fact that wayang is main identity of Javanese people. The wayang elements in Indonesian novels are the plot of the story that identical with wayang acts and the figures are created similarly with the figures in wayang story. The similarities showed there some figures in wayang story who became the idols in society.
