Abstract

The reading interest of Indonesian people still low compared from other countries. It needs to introduce the love of reading early, so the children will have long life reading interest. In this case the school’s library should be able to nurture students into a reading society. This research is qualitative with key informant is principal and supporting informant are librarian, teachers and students of State Primary School 31 of Balai Labuh Bawah. The data were collected by using observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that the principal play an active role to increase students reading interest through the school’s library. The role of principals are (1) increasing the students reading interest through exemplary; (2) utilizing the school’s library as a learning resource; (3) giving reward to the students who frequently visit and borrow books in school’s library; (4) increasing the books collection in school’s library; (5) making the school’s library as a convenient place for reading activities; and (6) fostering librarians through upgrading and seminar activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain information about the implementation of academic supervision done by the headmaster in order to develop teachers’ performance. This research used qualitative method. Data were collected through interview, observation and documentation. The subjects of this research were the headmaster and the teachers. The results showed that the implementation of the academic supervision was done on three steps were planning, implementation and evaluation. Abstract

This paper aimed at investigating the communicative character of learners that could be seen in the pleasure of talking, socializing and cooperating with others in the community class conducted by Homeschooling Primagama Palembang every Saturday morning. This paper was qualitative descriptive. The data were obtained in the form of observation, interview and documentation results compiled from the location of observation. The results showed that the existence of a community class held every once a week, made students of Primagama Homeschooling could work together and mingle neglecting the age and education, and can socialize with the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the influence of compensation on teachers’ performance in State Secondary School 3 Batusangkar. The method used was a quantitative. The population in this study were all teachers of civil servants in State Secondary School 3 Batusangkar which consist of 43 people. Analyzer used in this research was simple linear regression, coefficient of determinant, and t test. Data processing using SPSS statistics 20 for windows. Based on the results of the study, it was known that simultaneously the compensation has a significant and positive effect on teachers’ performance. The result from simple linear that constant score equal to 100,008 and coefficient score of compensation equal to 0,378 this indicate that there is significant and positive influence to teachers’ performance in State Secondary School 3 Batusangkar. The result of determinant coefficient can be seen that the involvement of compensation variable to teachers’ performance is 17,1%. Result of t-test where t-count > t-table (2,905> 2,701) or sig. <0,01 (0,000 <0,01) which means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.  Keywords: Compensation, Teachers’ Performance, State Secondary School 3 Batusangkar

Abstract

National defense is not only to maintain the unity of the Republic of Indonesia, but it must be realized in real life to create critical, loyality, and determination of the nation. This study aimed at finding out the efforts to build the value of defending nation through the Education of Pancasila in Universitas PGRI Palembang. The method used was qualitative case study. The techniques used for collecting data were interview, documentation, observation and literature review. The data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions were analyzed simultaneously and interactively by using qualitative analysis. The result of this research stated that (1) the students of Universitas PGRI Palembang still had limited knowledge about the values of nation defense, (2) the students did not have critical attitude towards the problems around them, (3) the students had low achievement in motivation. The efforts done by Universitas PGRI Palembang in handling with these problems were fostering: (1) the values of love of the nation (2) fostering the value of national and state awareness, (3) fostering the values of Pancasila as the ideology of the nation, 4) the value of loyalty to the nation, (5) the knowledge of nation defense, and (6) the spirit of achievement as a reflection of the love of the nation.

Abstract

This research aimed at understanding about the role of principal to develop the management to upgrade the educational quality in SD Islam Plus Excellent, Bukittinggi. The educational quality needs the role of principal to make the programs. To get the data, I applied interview and documentation. The results revealed that the principal did make the programs related to management of curriculum, student, teachers and employee, financial, infrastructure, special sevice and relationship to upgrade the educational quality. Keywords: Principal, Management, Educational Quality, SD Islam Plus Excellent, Bukittinggi.

Abstract

The study aimed at obtaining information about the implementation of Literacy School Movement Based Learning Multiliteration (SLM) (Educational Paradigm of 21st Century). This research used qualitative. Data were collected through interview, observation and documentation. The subjects of this study were students and teachers from SMK Negeri 1 Suak Tapeh and the results showed that (1) implementation of School Literacy Movement (GLS) through multiliteration to read, write and speak has entered development and learning which is a progress from habituation that has been done since 2016; (2) in the development and the learning phase, the students were able to make simple papers such as fairy tales, inspirational stories, scientific papers and appropriate technology which displayed on major events such provincial-level student expo and competition; (3) GLS has enhanced the culture of literacy and fostered the character of students to be creative and innovative.

Abstract

A zero hour program is initiated by Disdikpora and the Government of Palembang City. This program is an effort to develop morals through religious activities held 20 minutes before the instructional process takes place. This program can also be used as a forum for introducing and practicing the value of Pancasia through religious activities. The purpose of this study was to explain the implementation of the recognition and understanding of the value of Pancasila through zero hour activities in SMK PGRI 3 of Palembang. This research was a qualitative research. The research approach used was case study. The process of collecting and extracting the data involved observation methods, interviews, and documentation. Interactive analysis model was used in analyzing the data. The results of the research were: (1) Educational institution had an important role in the effort to foster the value of Pancasila and religion to the students, (2) Zero hour program could be a medium to integrate Pancasila value with religious values, (3) The implementation of the introduction and practice of the value of Pancasila through Zero hour program at SMK PGRI 3 Palembang includeed (a) the spirit of nationality, (b) upholding unity, and (c) justice, (4) the impacts and benefits of this program could be seen through some facts. First, the students not only did became religious but their behaviors also reflected the values of honesty, self-control, mutual respect, cooperation, responsibility, and discipline.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing the leadership strategy of  women principal. This research was done in SD Negeri Kota Palembang 116. The approach used in this research was a case study. Results of the study in improving the quality of education in SD Negeri 116 Palembang include a good personal approach with all stakeholders of the school; planning the school with the greatest extent possible, analyze the challenges, barriers and opportunities in the future; establish good cooperation with all educators, empowering educational effort through cooperation, provide an opportunity to improve educators’ practices, and encourage the involvement of the educators on supporting the programs of the school. The results implied the teachers  to maximize the existing facilities and infrastructure to maximize the learning  process, and  the school has had a strong culture.

Abstract

This study aimed at determining (1) leadership of headmaster’s Vocational School of PGRI Tanjung Raja as academic supervisor; (2) the teachers’ performance of Vocational School of PGRI Tanjung Raja; and (3) the influence of headmasters leadership on the teachers’ performance of Vocational School of PGRI Tanjung Raja. This research was quantitative research with expostfacto approach. The population in this study were the teachers of Vocational School PGRI Tanjung Raja consist of 85 teachers and then the sample was 60 teachers which selected by area proportional random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was questionnaire with Likert scale which has 4 alternative answers, on 100 items. The data analysis was used simple regression analysis technique. The results showed (1) leadership of headmaster’s Vocational School of PGRI Tanjung Raja according to some teachers (52%) high category; then (2) the teachers’ performance of Vocational School PGRI Tanjung Raja (52%) high category; and (3) there is a positive and significant influence of headmaster leadership as academic supervisor on teachers’ performance 65,1% happened to teacher’s performance can be explained by headmaster leadership as academic supervisor, while 80,7% other explained by other variable not included in this study such as teacher’s knowledge, teachers’ personality, dedication, professional development, and so forth.Kata Kunci: Headmaster’s Leadership, Teachers’ Performance, Vocational School PGRI Tanjung Raja
