Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the application of sport tourism as a learning medium outside the classroom in increasing sportsmanship and cooperation of elementary school students. Sport tourism as a learning approach combines physical activity and exploration of the natural environment with character education values, thereby encouraging the creation of active, collaborative, and meaningful learning experiences. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest design), involving 30 grade IV students in one of the elementary schools in Samosir Regency. Data was collected through a sportsmanship attitude questionnaire and a group cooperation observation sheet. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student sportsmanship and cooperation scores after participating in sports tourism activities as an out-of-class learning medium. These findings indicate that sport tourism can be an effective medium in fostering positive character values of elementary school students, as well as strengthening social skills through direct experiences outside the formal school environment. This activity also supports the implementation of the Independent Curriculum and project-based learning that emphasizes strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile.

Abstract

One of the common problems among high school basketball players is the lack of balance and consistency when performing three point shots, which negatively affects scoring performance. This research seeks to examine the influence of plyometric training specifically depth jump and box jump drills for enhancing three-point shooting skill. A semi-experimental approach employing a single-group pre-evaluation-post-evaluation was applied to a sample of 15 male students from SMA Santo Paulus, Jakarta. The training intervention lasted five weeks, with 14 sessions conducted three times per week. Shooting performance was measured from five standard angles on the three-point arc, and data were analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk, Levene’s test, and paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in three-point shooting scores after the intervention (t = -4.356; p = 0.000), indicating that plyometric training enhances lower-body strength, balance, and shooting accuracy. It can be concluded that structured plyometric exercises contribute positively to three-point shooting performance in basketball athletes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of an aerobic and resistance training program in improving forced vital capacity (FVC) in young athletes participating in the DBON program (Desain Besar Olahraga Nasional). The study included 19 participants aged 13 to 16, including 7 boys and 12 girls, who underwent a 15-week training program. To ensure measurement accuracy, FVC values were taken before and after the training program with a spirometer. The intervention resulted in a modest increase in FVC values in the male group, from 3.7±0.4 to 3.7±1.3 liters (p=0.509). Females had significantly lower FVC levels (3.4±1.1 liters vs. 3.9±2.7 liters) (p=0.047). Other variables, such as forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and peak expiratory flow (PEF), showed no significant differences between the male and female groups before and after therapy. These findings indicate that both endurance and strength training can improve vital capacity, but the response may vary by gender. This work can be utilized to build individualized training programs for young athletes, taking into account sex-specific physiological characteristics to increase training effects and sports performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine and compare the effects of interval training and circuit training on the physical fitness improvement of Taekwondo athletes aged 9 to 13 years in Batang Regency. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest group design. Subjects were divided into two treatment groups, each undergoing a structured training program consisting of 12 sessions over a period of 4 weeks. The training focused on enhancing physical fitness, measured using the bleep test which covers endurance, strength, agility, and aerobic capacity. The results showed that the interval training group experienced an average improvement of approximately 31.1%, while the circuit training group showed a higher increase of around 35.5%. The paired sample t-test indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results in both groups (t count > t table). However, the circuit training group demonstrated slightly higher t values and percentage gains than the interval group, suggesting that while both methods are effective, circuit training may offer a more optimal approach to improving physical fitness in young athletes. This research is expected to serve as a valuable reference for coaches and trainers in selecting appropriate training methods, and to help athletes better understand the importance of structured physical fitness development.
