Abstract

This study aims to analyze the weaknesses in the implementation of language politeness among early childhood learners. Language politeness, closely linked to courteous behavior, is essential for children's social interactions and acceptance. Disruptions in the use of polite language may hinder children's ability to build positive relationships. Politeness traditions, deeply rooted in Indonesian culture, emphasize the importance of respectful communication in daily life. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this study involved parents, teachers, and school principals as research subjects. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and validated using triangulation techniques. The findings indicate that five key factors contribute to the weakness of language politeness in early childhood: parental dependence, lack of home supervision, shortcomings in the school environment, children's weaknesses, and the influence of learning media. The study underscores the importance of collaboration among parents, educators, and the community in fostering polite language development. Strengthening politeness values within educational curricula and optimizing the use of supportive learning media are recommended as strategic efforts to enhance language politeness among young children.

Abstract

Environmental issues and education are critical components in promoting sustainability, particularly in early childhood education. Despite the growing recognition of eco-literacy's importance, there remains limited research on project-based learning models that emphasize experiential approaches to address local environmental challenges faced by young children. This study aims to explore the implementation of eco-literacy through project-based learning at TK Alam Berbasis Karakter Sayang Ibu Kota Banjarmasin. Using a qualitative case study design, data was collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted using techniques of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation employed to ensure data validity. The findings reveal that eco-literacy was effectively implemented through two main project-based learning activities: the ecobrick and eco enzyme projects. The projects were conducted over eight sessions, divided into three phases: initiation, development, and conclusion. At the end of the learning process, the teacher facilitated a reflection activity by encouraging children to express their feelings through free drawing. This reflective process allowed children to articulate their thoughts and emotions regarding waste and environmental care, reinforcing the learning process. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating eco-literacy in early childhood education and highlights the value of context-specific, experiential learning models in fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among young learners.

Abstract

In-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) (Daljab) is an educational program designed to produce professional teachers. The program aims to provide prospective teachers with the competencies, skills and knowledge necessary for them to teach effectively in schools. However, in reality, the implementation of PPG still has many obstacles faced by the Educational Institutions for Educational Personnel (LPTK) and PPG participants. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with the number of informants is 12 people with details of 1 from the LPTK, 6 lecturers and 5 from PPG participants. To obtain the data needed in the research, data collection techniques were used in the form of; literature study, interviews, and documentation. The analysis used in this research is by coding, presenting data, and verifying data. The results showed that the implementation process of PPG policy for PAUD teacher certification was not optimal, especially in the aspect of learning theory with minimal interaction, as well as administrative monitoring. Collaborative strategies are needed between LPTK and participants through strengthening infrastructure, and a more interactive learning approach to support the professional competence of PAUD teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to explore children's involvement in household chores and their impact on executive functions. The research method used is a phenomenological approach with in-depth interviews as the data collection technique. The research subjects comprise 8 parents with children aged 6-8 years, residing in both urban and rural areas. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis to identify the main themes emerging from the subjects' experiences. The results of the study show that children's involvement in household chores provides experiences that enrich the development of their executive functions. Children who regularly engage in household tasks show improvements in independence, responsibility, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence. Parents reported that setting an example, adjusting responsibilities according to the child's development, and providing clear instructions are effective strategies for involving children in household chores. The study concludes that household chores can be an effective tool for training children's executive functions. The implications of this study are the need for parental education on the importance of children's involvement in household chores and effective strategies to support it. Further research is needed to explore the long-term impact of children's involvement in household chores on the development of their executive functions.

Abstract

Early childhood education plays a vital role in shaping children’s understanding of diversity and reducing biases. In an increasingly multicultural society, fostering multicultural awareness from an early age is essential for promoting inclusivity and empathy. This study explores how curriculum elements and classroom interactions influence young children’s awareness of diversity and bias reduction. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through classroom observations, curriculum document analysis, and interviews with early childhood educators. The research examines the use of multicultural storybooks, diverse toys, and inclusive activities, as well as the role of teacher-child and peer interactions in encouraging positive attitudes toward cultural differences. The findings indicate that exposure to diverse cultural materials and teacher-led discussions significantly enhance children’s appreciation of diversity. Additionally, classrooms that actively promote inclusivity see reduced stereotyping and bias. The study provides practical insights for educators and policymakers, offering strategies to integrate multicultural content into curricula and foster inclusive, bias-free learning environments. These insights are valuable for those seeking to create more equitable early childhood education settings.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly impacted various sectors, including Early Childhood Education (ECE). This study aims to identify the potential and current practices of AI literacy within the context in Indonesia and emphasizes the importance of strengthening AI literacy from an early age to prepare a generation that is adaptive to technology. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PICO framework and PRISMA protocol. Literature was systematically collected from Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Springer, and Sinta, resulting in 79 articles, of which 14 met the inclusion criteria (Indonesian-based studies, published between 2020–2025, in Indonesian or English). The data were then analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings indicate that AI literacy has a strong potential to enhance learning quality in ECE through interactive, adaptive, and personalized approaches. Technologies such as chatbots, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) have been utilized to support cognitive, social-emotional development, and children with special needs. However, AI practices in Indonesia remain limited to institutions with adequate digital infrastructure and technologically literate educators. The lack of empirical research also highlights the need for further exploration. Optimizing AI implementation requires multi-stakeholder collaboration to strengthen infrastructure, train educators, and develop policies that prioritize ethics, safety, and equitable access before national scaling.
