Abstract

The trust crisis surrounding Pertamina following the fuel adulteration scandal prompted a notable shift in consumer preferences and exposed a conceptual gap in understanding how rational action is formed under conditions of institutional delegitimization. Previous studies tend to treat Weberian rationalities as discrete categories, leaving unexplored how these forms interact during episodes of reputational crisis. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach with 12 participants, this study draws on in-depth interviews, field observations, and thematic coding analysis to examine consumer transitions from Pertamina to Shell. The findings reveal that consumer actions do not manifest as four isolated types but rather as a continuum of interwoven rationalities instrumental, economic, value-oriented, and traditional shaped dynamically by crisis experiences, accessibility, and everyday consumption habitus. These insights extend Weber’s theory of social action by demonstrating that rationalities are not static attributes but situational and fluid across contexts of uncertainty. The study further introduces the Seesaw Effect as a conceptual contribution, explaining how the erosion of Pertamina’s reputation simultaneously elevates Shell’s legitimacy. Practically, the findings underscore that institutional reputation, service integrity, and transparency are central determinants in sustaining public trust within competitive fuel markets.

Abstract

The transformation of work systems towards a hybrid model has fundamentally changed the psychological dynamics of balancing professional demands and personal life in the digital age, especially in urban communities. This study explores how eight hybrid workers negotiate the boundaries between work and personal space, build emotional balance, and shape their professional identity amid digital flexibility and pressure. Using an interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach, informants from the education, technology, and public administration sectors in Yogyakarta were interviewed in depth to uncover the subjective meaning of their daily experiences. Reflective thematic analysis reveals three main contexts: the separation of work and personal spheres is now psychological in nature; adaptive strategies such as self-regulation and emotional resilience overcome digital fatigue; and the formation of professional identity is performative through dynamic digital interactions. These findings expand the literature on work-life interface and psychological work identity with a non-Western perspective, emphasizing the role of culture, digital autonomy, and emotional support in maintaining psychological well-being. Practically, this research highlights the need for adaptive and psychologically balanced organizational policies, affirming that work-life balance in the hybrid era is a continuous negotiation process between space, time, and the evolving meaning of self.

Abstract

Abundant natural resources will become a continuous problem if not managed properly, one example is the existence of natural resources, namely gold in Gampong Gunong Rotan, Labuhan Haji Timur District. In this village there is a potential natural resource of gold which is a resource for many people, including workers, landowners and investors. This research is a type of qualitative research, with data collection methods using interviews and observations at the research location. By borrowing the theory of patron client, it was found that the involvement of investors in the shrinking of natural resources in the area of Gampong Gunong Rotan, Labuhan Haji District, is a chain of dependency between patrons and clients that has positive and negative impacts. The positive impact helps the economy of the families of workers who work in mining wells, while the negative impact is that investors compete to control areas that have gold potential at the mining

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of First Class Dental Luxury branding at OMDC Dental Clinic and to evaluate the alignment of this concept with patients’ perceptions using the Customer-Based Brand Equity (CBBE) framework. This research is important given the increasing competition in the dental healthcare industry, which requires brand differentiation not only in functional aspects but also in experiential and symbolic perceptions experienced by patients. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, involving internal stakeholders (management and dental professionals) and patients who had repeatedly utilized OMDC’s services, with the number of informants determined until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data analysis was conducted using Keller’s CBBE pyramid model, encompassing brand awareness, brand associations, perceived quality, and brand loyalty, and was integrated with indicators of healthcare service quality. The findings indicate that First Class Dental Luxury branding successfully differentiates OMDC Dental Clinic by delivering a service experience inspired by first-class airline services, characterized by an exclusive ambiance, personalized care, and professional interaction standards. Patients perceive a strong alignment between the brand image and the actual service experience, although greater consistency in implementation across all branches remains necessary. This study highlights the importance of integrating branding strategies with service quality to strengthen brand equity in the healthcare service sector.

Abstract

Political demonstrations in recent years have become a significant phenomenon in Indonesia, as they not only reflect political instability but also generate mass psychological distress, which is rarely recognized as part of a social emergency. Previous studies tend to focus on structural issues such as the crisis of state legitimacy, elite polarization, or weak democratic institutions, but do not see demonstrations as triggering collective trauma, erosion of public trust, and emotional distress. To fill that void, this study examines how political demonstrations lead to psychological emergencies through social trauma, distrust of the state, and emotional distress due to media and economic conditions. To answer this, a qualitative content analysis of 15 national and regional online news reports from 1-31 August 2025 was used with thematic coding techniques. The research found three main things namely collective trauma emerged through violence by the authorities, casualties, and loss of security, a crisis of trust in state institutions seen in policy rejection, moral criticism, and demands for the dissolution of the DPR, and increased psychological distress due to media exposure, layoffs, and economic pressure. The contribution of this research lies in the repositioning of demonstrations as generators of collective psychological distress, not just political expression. This study recommends that the state adopt a more empathetic approach by implementing supportive policies, psychosocial safeguards, and non-traumatic avenues for participatory.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the alignment between employees’ positions and job descriptions at Toko Jaya Abadi Motor, Sragen, using Alo Liliweri’s organizational sociology perspective. Compatibility between positions and job descriptions is crucial for maintaining employee performance, job satisfaction, and organizational stability. A mixed-methods approach with a descriptive design was employed, involving 23 employees as respondents through interviews and a questionnaire consisting of 43 Likert-scale items. The results of the study indicate that Toko Jaya Abadi Motor has a stable level of alignment between employees’ positions and their job descriptions. The leadership system implemented is a centralized leadership structure, in which the store owner serves as the primary decision-maker. Employee performance remains relatively stable due to social cohesion, although variations in individual initiative were observed. Employee motivation is driven by both economic and socio-emotional factors, with job satisfaction strongly supported by a familial work atmosphere. Nevertheless, the absence of formal SOPs and limited career development opportunities are significant challenges. These findings highlight that the success of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is largely influenced by internal social dynamics rather than formal managerial efficiency

Abstract

This study analyzes how the normalization of productivity pressure in hustle culture is shaped through the glorification of non-stop work, the internalization of the neoliberal ethos of self-optimization, and the construction of identities based on digital performativity in the platform economy ecosystem. Using a qualitative approach through digital ethnography and critical discourse analysis (CDA), this study examines media representations, digital motivational content, displayed productivity practices, and assessment mechanisms in gig platforms using naturally occurring data from international media, social media, and other digital materials. The findings of this study show that extreme productivity is positioned as a new moral standard, indicating that individuals are encouraged to manage risk, self-discipline, and work performance as personal responsibilities. This study concludes that the professional identity of the younger generation is shaped through the visualization of work activities, platform ratings, and comparative narratives that link self-worth to displayed performance. This study provides a theoretical contribution by formulating a framework on the relationship between the discourse of productivity, internalization processes, and the performativity of identity in the digital economy, as well as offering practical implications for policy design and a more sustainable work ecosystem to reduce culturally legitimized productivity pressures

Abstract

Gampong-Owned Enterprises (BUMG) are expected to become economic institutions that lead to gampong independence through community empowerment. However, the condition of the development of BUMG is far from the government's expectations. This study aims to analyze the role of social capital in the management of BUMG Maju Jaya. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The results of this study illustrate that the success of BUMG Maju Jaya is not only determined by financial capital, but also by the strength of social capital that is integrated in three main dimensions, namely bonding social capital (internal solidarity), bridging social capital (networks between groups), and linking social capital (access to external resources). Social capital plays a key catalyst that drives active community participation, builds trust in BUMG managers, and strengthens internal and external social networks. Social capital has transformed BUMG from a mere business entity to a social-based economic institution that empowers the community. The results of this research are expected to be a reference for other BUMG managers in reviving gampong economic institutions.

Abstract

The Aceh conflict, one of the longest separatist struggles in Indonesia, lasted for nearly three decades and caused severe social, political, and economic consequences. The turning point occurred after the 2004 tsunami, which opened the door for peace negotiations between the Government of Indonesia and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM). This study aims to analyze the political transformation of GAM following the signing of the 2005 Helsinki Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focusing on the dynamics of demobilization, reintegration, and democratization in Aceh. Using a historical approach and library research, data were collected from primary sources such as official documents and archival records, as well as secondary sources including books, journals, and reports. The findings show that the MoU Helsinki not only ended armed conflict but also initiated significant political transformation by allowing the establishment of local political parties and expanding Aceh’s autonomy. However, challenges persist in reintegration programs, governance of special autonomy funds, and center local relations. While GAM successfully transitioned from armed resistance to formal politics, issues of social justice, economic inequality, and elite dominance continue to hinder sustainable peace. This study highlights that Aceh’s experience offers important lessons for conflict transformation and peacebuilding in post-conflict societies.
