Abstract

The growing presence of Muslim students in multicultural and secular societies, such as Australia, raises important questions about identity formation and cultural adaptation. This study aims to explore how Muslim students in Darwin construct cultural harmony and develop their self-identity within educational environments that may not fully accommodate religious practices. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving students, parents, and community representatives, with thematic analysis applied to interpret the data. The findings reveal that Muslim students face multiple challenges, including limited access to worship facilities, lack of halal food, and experiences of stereotyping and social exclusion. Despite these constraints, they actively develop adaptive strategies such as effective time management, selective identity expression, and engagement in constructive dialogue, enabling them to balance academic and religious commitments. Islamic education plays a significant role in strengthening moral values, self-confidence, and a sense of belonging, while support from families, schools, and Muslim communities contributes to creating a more inclusive environment. This study contributes to the development of contextually responsive Islamic education and provides practical insights for enhancing student well-being, identity formation, and cultural harmony in multicultural settings.

Abstract

The growing need to strengthen religious moderation in Qur’an and Hadith learning requires contextual strategies that support character formation. This study aims to describe how teachers in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah internalize moderation values and shape students’ moderate character. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed thematically with validation ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that teachers integrate values such as tolerance, justice, courtesy, and balanced religious understanding through relevant Qur’anic verses and hadiths, discussion-based activities that build critical thinking, and the use of interactive media. These values are reflected not only in students’ cognitive understanding but also in behaviors such as respecting differences, fairness, kindness, discipline, and responsibility. This study addresses gaps in previous research, which has been mainly theoretical, and provides practical implications for developing contextual Qur’an–Hadith learning models grounded in moderation principles.

Abstract

This study examines the role  of the concept of fitrah in the formation of Generation Z character in the era of Society 5.0 which is characterized by the integration of digital technology and social life. The focus of the research is directed at the strategy of internalizing the values of religiosity, morality, and social responsibility in character education that is adaptive to technological developments. The methods used are qualitative-based literature through systematic literature review of national and international articles, analysis of classical Islamic texts, education policies, and empirical findings on the digital behavior of Generation Z. The results show three main challenges of Generation Z, namely digital overexposure, weakening of face-to-face social interaction, and value identity crisis. Fitrah-based education  contributes to strengthening faith, morals, digital ethics, and social awareness by emphasizing a harmonious relationship with God, fellow humans, and nature. Thus, fitrah has the potential to become a strategic foundation for the development of a holistic character education model that is relevant to the vision of Society 5.0, where education policy needs to integrate the potential of fitrah with academic achievement and the formation of noble morals.

Abstract

This study addresses the growing concern over the decline of students’ critical thinking skills and the limited integration of scientific knowledge with ethical and spiritual values in modern education. It aims to examine how reasoning, logic, and Islamic epistemology can be integrated to develop a holistic approach to science education. Employing a qualitative phenomenological method, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with students from both general and Islamic educational backgrounds and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that students actively use inductive and deductive reasoning in academic and everyday contexts, while logic serves as a systematic framework for constructing valid conclusions. Furthermore, sources of knowledge are understood as a combination of empirical experience, rational thinking, and spiritual guidance, including revelation and intuition. These elements are interconnected and form a comprehensive epistemological framework. The study highlights that integrating rational, empirical, and spiritual dimensions can enhance curriculum design and pedagogical practices. This integration contributes to fostering critical thinking, ethical awareness, and holistic character development, offering a balanced and relevant educational paradigm for addressing contemporary global challenges.

Abstract

The moral crisis affecting students in the digital era requires innovation in character education strategies. This study focuses on futuristic pedagogy as an approach capable of addressing these challenges, particularly in elementary schools. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method by combining a systematic literature review with semi-structured interviews with teachers. The findings reveal that futuristic pedagogy is not solely oriented toward the use of technology but also emphasizes the integration of ethical, spiritual, and humanistic values in the learning process. Four key findings emerge: the need for value-based curriculum reformulation, the repositioning of teachers as facilitators and agents of change, the reinforcement of moral values within the digital context, and the synergistic involvement of families and communities in the educational ecosystem. From this synthesis, an integrative model of futuristic pedagogy is developed, combining noble values, technology, and local wisdom to cultivate students who are virtuous, adaptive, and competitive in the era of Society 5.0. This research contributes both theoretically and practically to strengthening sustainable character education in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Sheikh Nawawi al-Bantani’s concept of moral education and its influence on shaping students’ noble character at SMK Yanisba Pontang, Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative approach based on library study, supplemented by field data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using content analysis, focusing on the integration of Sheikh Nawawi’s principles into school practices. Findings indicate that moral education is implemented through routine programs, such as congregational prayers, recitation of moral texts, and discipline reinforcement via school regulations. Teacher role-modeling and behavioral habituation proved effective in cultivating moral awareness and producing tangible changes in student attitudes, including discipline, responsibility, politeness, and mutual respect. Theoretically, this study reinforces Sheikh Nawawi’s principles, particularly uswah hasanah (teachers as role models) and tadrib al-nafs (training oneself through habituation). The results emphasize that moral internalization requires practical engagement and consistent repetition of virtuous behavior. Practically, this model can be applied in vocational schools to develop students with strong moral and spiritual character, preparing them to face social and professional challenges effectively.
