Abstract

QR code is a system that uses two-dimensional image codes which also originate from the evolution of barcodes. QR codes can be used as learning resources. This research aims to produce appropriate QR code learning media that get positive responses from students. The development of the QR code media uses the Research and Development method. In the 4-D development research model (Four D model), researchers only use up to 3 steps, namely: Define stage (Planning), Design stage (Designing) and Develop stage (Development). The research results show that the QR code media developed using expert validation sheets and response questionnaires received a score for the media aspect of 80.00% (feasible), the material aspect of 88.00% (very feasible), and the language aspect of 82.00% (very feasible). Meanwhile, the results of student responses used 2 development trials, these are small-scale trials 90% (very positive) and large-scale trials 88.41% (very positive). It can be concluded that the media developed in this research is valid and gets a very positive response from students.

Abstract

The limited variety of learning methods and teaching materials used in environmental management material affects students' 21st-century skills. Current learning is still conventional and ignores the development of 21st-century skills, which include critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. This research aims to produce a case method-based environmental management module to improve students' 21st-century abilities that is valid, practical, and effective. The research was conducted in June-October 2023 at Riau University. The research sample included students from the marine science study program who took Environmental Science courses. This type of research is development using the ADDIE model. The research instruments used validation sheets, observation sheets, and response questionnaires. The average validation result for the module is 3.64, with a very valid category. The results of the response questionnaire in the limited trial obtained an average score of 3.82 in the very valid category, while the results of the practicality questionnaire received a score of 85% in the practical category. The observation results obtained a score of 85 for the competence category. Abstract

One of the objectives of the Biology Education study program is that students have entrepreneurial insights and competencies in the field of biology education that can contribute to self-development and society. Based on the objectives of this study program, it can be concluded that graduates of the study program are not only expected to become teachers but also to become entrepreneurs. Therefore, in the lecture process, it is hoped that each course can be oriented to foster students' entrepreneurial interest and motivation. This study aims to reveal how the entrepreneurial interest of Biology Education students after taking the Plant Structure and Development course. Because of the potential of this course if the right project assignment is developed in fostering the entrepreneurial spirit, this will be able to form graduates who have entrepreneurial competencies. This research is an exploratory descriptive research. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and the results of the data analysis were later interpreted in qualitative form. The results showed that 91.37% of students are interested in entrepreneurship and the level of entrepreneurial interest of students has a high category. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the entrepreneurial interest of Biology Education students after taking the course of Plant Structure and Development has a high category.

Abstract

21st-century education demands 4C skills (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking) to support students’ understanding and knowledge. Essential thinking skills that are classified as low can be influenced by learning models. The Problem-Based Learning-Sustainable Development Goals model can be applied to train critical thinking skills. This research aims to determine the influence of the PBL-SDGs on essential thinking skills in environmental change issues. The research method uses a pretest-posttest control Group Design. The sample consisted of 66 students at 44 Jakarta Senior High Schools, with 33 students in each class selected using Simple Random Sampling. The essay instrument measures critical thinking skills based on the Ennis indicators. The data analysis method used descriptive analysis (minimum score, maximum score, mean, and standard deviation) and inferential (normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test) statistical analysis. The research results show that the PBL-SDGs model can improve critical thinking skills, as seen from the N-gain in the experimental class of 0.607 and the control class of 0.505 in the medium category. The highest aspect of critical thinking skills in the experimental and control classes is Basic Support, with scores of 60,00 and 56,94. Based on the independent t-test, a significance of 0.005 < 0.05 is obtained, meaning the PBL-SDGs model influences critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Environmental destruction in Indonesia is increasingly alarming since the country ranks as the fifth biggest waste producer globally. As the agents of change, students have a significant and strategic role in environmental conservation; however, observations at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi indicate that environmental awareness among students remains low. The focus of this research is to understand the correlation between natural intelligence and environmental concern of students in UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, which is examined using a quantitative approach with a correlational method to determine the link between the two variables. This research involved 99 students as respondents and was selected randomly using a simple random sampling technique; the data of this research were collected through questionnaires and interviews to measure the students’ natural intelligence and environmental concern. The results showed that most students have natural intelligence (64,6%) and environmental concern (72,7%) in the medium category. Correlation analysis Product Moment Pearson generates significant numbers 0,00<0,05 and calculated r 0,604>0,195, indicating a considerable correlation between the two variables in a strong category. Regression analysis resulted in the equation Y = 25,319 + 1,117X, with a practical contribution of 6, 4% of natural intelligence to the environmental concern, while other factors influenced the other 63,6%. The result reiterates the necessity of a comprehensive approach to increasing the environmental concern of the students, not only from natural intelligence development but also from other influential factors such as environmental knowledge, religious values, and access to environmental information

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning media for Environmental Change material based on the TikTok application for class X students at SMA Negeri 1 in Gorontalo. This research is development research using the ADDIE model with trials on 20 students. This research analyzes data on learning media development, namely data analysis of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The research results showed that (1) The media validity test based on percentages obtained a score of 95.8% (Very Valid), and the material validity test based on percentages obtained a score of 86% (Very Valid), (2) The Practicality Test consisted of Student Responses and Teacher Response. The student response test obtained a score of 83% (Very Practical), and the Teacher Response test obtained 90% (Very Practical). (3) The student learning outcomes test was obtained from the Pretest and Posttest evaluation results, based on the N-Gain scale, obtaining a score of 0.57 which is included in the (Medium) category. Based on the results of trials developing the TikTok media, it is categorized as valid, practical, and effective for use in classroom learning.

Abstract

YouTube media can be utilized and implemented in learning at school by using technological capabilities in accordance with the times. Learning that uses the discovery learning model is more meaningful if collaborated with YouTube media. This study aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model using YouTube media on students' cognitive learning outcomes on environmental change material in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah Ciamis in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control design. The population in this study were all students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah consisting of four classes with a total of 152 students. The samples used were X MIPA 2 class as an experimental class totaling 37 students and X MIPA 1 class as a control class totaling 38 students. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques in the form of learning achievement tests totaling 30 questions. The instrument used is a learning outcome test on environmental change material. The data analysis technique used an independent t-test whose results obtained a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, so that there was an effect of the discovery learning model with YouTube media on student learning outcomes on environmental change material in class X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Rancah in the 2022/2020 academic year. It is hoped that in further learning can use YouTube media to improve better student learning outcomes.

Abstract

21st-century education highlights the importance of understanding cognitive load and emotional intelligence in the context of teaching and learning. The goal in this study to determine the correlation between emotional intelligence and cognitive load of students in biology subjects in Class XI MIPA SMAN 4 Tasikmalaya. The responden is  XI MIPA SMAN 4 Tasikmalaya, consisting of 5 classes with a total of 190 students. The research sample was taken using total sampling, where the entire population becomes the sample. The research instrument uses a 44 statement emotional intelligence questionnaire and a 20 statement cognitive load questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is simple correlation testing, namely bivariate.The results of the study show a very strong correlation between emotional intelligence and cognitive load, with a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.972. The emotional intelligence variable contributes 94.4% to the cognitive load, as indicated by the coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.944. The conclusion of this research is that there is a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and cognitive load of students in biology subjects in Class XI SMA Negeri 4 Tasikmalaya.

Abstract

Genetic literacy is the capacity to obtain, process, understand, and use genetic information. Genetic literacy is a supportive thing in understanding science as a theory, process, and application. Genetic literacy that is empowered in learning can develop cognitive and affective aspects in pre-service teachers. This study aims to measure genetic literacy skills as a preliminary study for further research on the genetic literacy skills of students in genetics courses. This research design refers to descriptive research. The research subjects in this study were Universitas PGRI Ronggolawe biology education students who took genetics courses for the 2019/2020 academic year. The genetic literacy skill instrument was validated through product-moment correlation analysis. There are 15 genetic literacy questions with right and wrong answer choice and multiple choice questions. Scores will be interpreted into percentages and grouped into high, satisfactory, under-satisfactory, and unsatisfactory categories. The results showed that genetic literacy tests on 25 college students showed that the highest score was 93 and the lowest score was 73. The average genetic literacy score of students was 82.7. Based on genetic literacy test questions, it shows that the concept of student understanding is in the excellent category. This phenomenon is influenced by various factors, including the learning design and teaching materials used. The concept of good student knowledge showed high results in genetic literacy skills in this study.

Abstract

The utilization of local potential in the campus area has not been done optimally. The need for contextualized learning resources requires lecturers to provide appropriate learning resources for students, including biology education students in plant morphology. This study aims to utilize the local potential of the campus area as a learning resource regarding the diversity of Poaceae based on morphological reviews. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. The data collection method in this study was observation. Sampling technique by making plots with the quadrat method with a size of 1x1 meter at several points in the campus area. The results of this study indicate that the Poaceae family identified in the PGRI Ronggolawe University campus area consists of 12 species, including Stenotaphrum secundatum, Elymus repens, Poa annua, Paspalum dilatatum, Chloris barbata, Zoysia japonica, Muhlenbergia schreberi, Thyrsotachys oliveri, Bambusa vulgaris, Cymbopogon citratus, Digitaria sanguinalis, Panicum repens with four subfamilies namely Bambusoideae, Pooideae, Panicoideae, Chloridoideae with a total of 259 individuals found. Overall, the level of Poaceae diversity in the campus area is H’ = 2.19, which is a moderate category. The level of Poaceae diversity in the campus area from the highest to the lowest value is the subfamily Panicoideae (1.09), Chloridoideae (1.05), Pooideae (0.69), and Bambusoideae (0.66). Analysis of the potential of the research results shows that the diversity of Poaceae in the campus area can be used as learning material for plant morphology for biology education students.
