Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve the observation skill and the learning achievement on Human Motion System, which is taught at grade 8. The research was Classroom Action Research, using Scientific approach based on guided inquiry using smart messages. The participants were 29 students  of Class VIIIE of SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta in 2016. Data was collected by observing learning process and doing test of students' achievement. The instruments of the research consists of lesson plans, observation sheet and guidelines of observation skill, and tests as an assesment of kognitive knowledge. The procedures in this classroom action research adopted the Kemmis and Taggart model which consist of plan, action, observation, and reflection. Qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The research showed an increase of observation skills and learning achievement of participants students through the application of scientific approach by guided  inquiry using smart messages.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan tes uraian singkat interaktif pada mata kuliah biologi lingkungan berbantuan komputer dengan Microsoft Office dan Visual Basic for Application. Instrumen tes yang dikembangkan bertujuan mengukur kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi mahasiswa pada mata kuliah biologi lingkungan. Instrumen tes yang dikembangkan berbasis Microsoft Office Powerpoint dan Visual Basic for Application. Penelitian ini merupakan Research and Development dengan modifikasi subjek coba pada beberapa tahapan penelitian. Penelitian hanya dilakukan sampai tahap perbaikan produk operasional. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Penelitian dan pengumpulan data awal, (2) Perencanaan, (3) Pembuatan produk awal, (4) Uji coba awal (validasi ahli), (5) Perbaikan produk awal, (6) Uji coba lapangan 1 dan 2, dan (7) Perbaikan produk operasional. Penelitian melibatkan subjek coba sebagai berikut: (1) Uji coba awal melibatkan ahli materi biologi lingkungan, ahli ICT, ahli penelitian dan evaluasi pendidikan; (2) Uji coba lapangan 1 kelompok kecil melibatkan 12 mahasiswa pendidikan biologi UMS yang mengambil matakuliah biologi lingkungan; dan (3) Uji coba lapangan 2 kelompok besar melibatkan 20 mahasiswa pendidikan biologi UMS yang mengambil matakuliah biologi lingkungan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis butir soal sesuai kaidah pada tahap validasi dan uji coba lapangan. Hasil akhir penelitian ini adalah tes uraian singkat interaktif berbantuan komputer pada materi biologi lingkungan yang valid secara internal, reliabel tinggi dengan koefisien 0,814>0,456 (r tabel), tingkat kesukaran sedang dengan indeks kesukaran 0,4 hingga 0,7, dan daya diskriminan (daya beda) baik dengan indeks diskriminan 0,4 hingga 0,7. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian adalah instrumen tes uraian singkat interaktif berbantuan komputer yang dikembangkan layak untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada materi biologi lingkungan.

Abstract

 Fungi infection is one of the main causes of health problems in Indonesia. One of them is caused by Candida albicans. To overcome infectious diseases can be done by looking for new alternatives with better antifungal activity. One of them uses hive and forest honey. Hive and forest honey contain many secondary metabolite compounds. The purpose of this research is to know the antifungal activity of methanol extract of honeycomb and forest honey to Candida albicans and to determine the effect of extract concentration on Candida albicans. This research includes the extraction process by maceration method and activity testing done by the method of paper disc diffusion.The results showed that the highest antifungal activity was in the extract of hoive methanol Namely bags of pollen, egg bags, honey bags and propolis each having inhibitory power of 20 mm, 19.08 mm, 18.5 mm, 15.7 mm And the lowest antifungal activity was found in the honey methanol extract of 10.1 mm. The higher the concentration of extract, the more the active substance content in it, so the antifungal activity will be greater.

Abstract

This research was aimed to improve the student’s creative thinking skill in VII F of SMP Negeri 8 Surakarta academic years 2014/2015 about biology lesson through problem based learning application.This research was a class action research which consisted of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The research subject was the 30 students of VII F of SMP N 8 Surakarta Academic Year 2014/2015. Data collecting techniques of this research used testing, observation, and interview then data validation was using triangulation method. Data analyzing technique of this research was descriptive qualitative analysis which was done in three components, they are: data reduction, data presentation and drawing the conclusion or verification. The research’ procedure used spiral mode which is interdependent.The research’s result showed that the implementation of problem based learning improves the student’s creative thinking skill that covers aspects of fluency, flexibility, originality,danelaboration. The percentages of fluency aspect was 45,00% in pre cycle, 51,79% in first cycle, 59,17% in second cycle, and 73,33% in third cycle. The percentages of flexibility was 31,67% in pre cycle, 33,93% in first cycle, 44,17% in second cycle, and 56,67% in third cycle. The percentages of originality aspect was 18,33% in pre cycle, 24,11% in first cycle, 30,00% in second cycle, and 39,17% in third cycle. The percentages of elaboration aspect was 35,00% in pre cycle, 41,96% in first cycle, 50,00% in second cycle, and 55,83% in third cycle.This research’s conclusion was the implementation of problem based learning can improve the student’s creative thinking skill in VII F of SMP N 8  Surakarta academic year 2014/2015 about biology lesson.

Abstract

Tom-toman (Indigofera) plants are popular among batik and weavers' community in Indonesia for long time ago as one of natural dyes. The etnobotany of Indigofera need to be analyzed by considering the indigenous knowledge of people who know and utilize the plants since ancient period, and passed the knowledge from their ancestors. This study aims to explore information of etnobotany of Indigofera in the world and particularly in Indonesia. The information of its botany found from old manuscripts and literatures, which furtherly compared with morpohologycal observation. Some samples of Indigofera found in Flores and Java were determined, and matched with the characteristics that had been released by several well-known botanists. It can be said that indigenous people had developed adequate skills on how to name the plants, distinguish the species, and utilize for daily purposes. The indigenous naming system was built based on fenotyphic characters.

Abstract

This research aims to increase the scientific literacy and decrease the student’s misconception in class X MIA 6 of SMAN 1 Karanganom by applying e-module based on the concept of Problem Based Learning (PBL). The type of the research is a classroom action research which consist of two cycles. Each cycles applied: planning the learning activity, then implementing those plan, next was observing the students’ activity and finally complimenting the whole activities during a cycle. The research subject is the students of class X MIA 6 at SMAN 1 Karanganom. There are 11 boys and 23 girls. The data validation used triangulation method. The data of the research were obtained by formulating the test, the observation and the interview. The obtained data  were analyzed using the descriptive technique. The results of the research showed the implementation of e-module based on the concept of PBL decrease the students’ misconception on the ecology subject with the explanation: the population concept decreased 21%, the comunity concept run into reduction 22%, the ecosystem concept  went down 21% and the ecology concept in ‘Science, environment, technology, and society’ context reduced 26%. The analysed result also indicated that the scientific literacy has increased 20.6%. The result of the research evidenced that implementation of e-module based on the concept of PBL could increase the scientific literation and decrease the students’ misconception on the ecology subject. Keywords:     E-module with based Problem Based Learning, misconception, scientific literacy

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to improve the cognitive learning results and students’ learning motivation through the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy, as well as applying the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy in the energy material. This study was done in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga by using the students from Class VII A as the subjects. The study used some instruments such as observation sheets, questionnaires and tests. The descriptive analysis was employed in this study. The results of this study show that the percentage of the students’ cognitive learning results fulfilling the 75 competence standard (KKM) in cycle I is 52,38% and it becomes 85,71% in cycle II. The observation result of the students’ learning motivation in cycle I is 76, 19% students achieving good minimum category and it becomes 100% students achieving good minimum category. Based on the students’ perception data about their motivation, there are 100% students in cycle I and II achieving the good minimum category.  The results of applying the discovery learning model and bowling campus strategy are capable to make the students to be more active in the learning process, to improve their motivation during the learning process, to facilitate them to comprehend the material concept and to review the materials in order to improve their cognitive learning results.                    Keywords: Discovery Learning, Bowling Campus Strategy, Learning and Motivation Results

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini antara lain: (1) mengetahui struktur dan komposisi vegetasi baik pohon maupun vegetasi penutup lantai (lower crop community-LCC) di lokasi kajian AMDAL kecamatan Ampel Kabupaten Boyolali; serta (2) mengetahui pengaruh indeks nilai penting dan indeks diversitas vegetasi terhadap kondisi lingkungan di sekitar lokasi kajian AMDAL kecamatan Ampel kabupaten Boyolali. Penelitian dilaksanakan di lokasi kajian AMDAL kecamatan Ampel kabupaten Boyolali pada bulan Juni sampai Juli 2013. Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tahap antara lain: (1) survei (pene-litian pendahuluan; (2) penentuan area kajian (unit sampling); (3) pengambilan data lapangan; serta (4) analisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa untuk vegetasi pohon, diperoleh 46 spesies yang termasuk ke dalam 24 famili. Jenis pohon yang pa-ling banyak ditemukan adalah Capsicum frutescens (cabe rawit) yang berjumlah 3655 individu tiap 1600 m2. Kontribusi spesies pohon yang terbesar ditunjukkan oleh indeks nilai penting (INP) tertinggi adalah Capsicum frutescens. Indeks diversitas/keaneka-ragaman vegetasi pohon di lokasi adalah 0,9864 (rendah). Untuk vegetasi penutup lantai (LCC) ditemukan 80 spesies yang termasuk 27 famili. Cacah individu terbanyak adalah Wedelia montana sebanyak 3234608 individu per 400 m2. Indeks diversitas vegetasi LCC adalah 1,144822 (melimpah)

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is important to be possessed by every individual, especially in the era of globalization. The ability to think critically supports the individual to overcome the problems in life, among which environmental problems are. Individuals and environments cannot be separated, the relationship between them is reciprocal. Solutions to environmental problems can be realized through critical thinking. Each individual's critical thinking ability varies, depending on the frequency of frequent exercises to develop that ability. Such exercises include frequently asking questions, posing assumptions, identifying information, making inferences, identifying impacts, and so on. It is therefore important to identify the critical thinking skills of individuals in a forum. Description of the ability to think critically about environmental problems is expected to be the basis for the design of development of learning plan set related to the subject of Environmental Knowledge. The description of students' critical thinking ability is obtained through questions prepared according to Polya’s problem solving syntax. The set of questions contains elements of reasoning that are judged based on the intellectual standards of reasoning by Paul and Elder.

Abstract

Mountain Magelang is one of agricultural sectors that produces cabbage, which will then be delivered to market Ngablak, Magelang. The unsold cabbage usually becomes waste which  can damage the environment, but at the other side, it can become food preservative if it is fermentated. The objective of this research  is to utilize the lacted acid from the fermentation of cabbage waste as the preservative of strawberries and grapes. This research is an experiment research, whose steps include: fermentation of cabbage waste with NaCl as much as 3%, microbiology and organoleptic test. The organoleptic test includes flavour, texture and color. The sample of this cabbage waste is obtained from market Ngablak Magelang Regency, while the strawberry and grape sample is then obtained from Cemoro Sewu, Sarangan area. As much as 20 strawberries and grapes are used in this research, which is divided into 2 groups. These groups are control group and treatment group with the total of fruits for each group as much as 10 fruits. For the treatment group, each 10 fruits (grapes and strawberries) are submerged in 100ml of the lactid acid solution from the fermentation of cabbage waste as long as 1 to 7 times 24 hours. The result of microbiologic test shows that the amount of microbes in grapes on the day-1 control is as much as 2.1 times 10-4 col/grams. At the treatment is as much as 3.3 times 10-5 col/grams, while on the control day-5, the amount of microbes are as much as 3.6 times 10-6 col/grams and on the treatment day-5 is as much as 6.0 times 10-6 col/grams. The amount of microbes in strawberries on the control day-2 are as much as 5.0 times 10-5 col/grams and is as much as 7.1 times 10-5 col/grams for the treatment day-2.  While on the control day-5, the amount of microbes are as much as 3.0 times 10-6 col/grams and are as much as 5.8 times 10-6 col/grams for the treatment day-5. For the result of organoleptic test of grapes on the control day-1, the fruits’ colour are semi brown, the flavour is (+++). The fruit reduced around 0.406 grams and expandes as much as 0.22 grams for the treatment day-1. Meanwhile on the control day-5, the fruits’ color are blackish red, with (+++) flavour and the fruits did not shrink. On the treatment day-5, fruits’ color are still fresh-red with (+) flavour and the fruits’ size increase as much as 1.398 grams.The result of organoleptic test of strawberries show that the color of the fruits on the control day-1 are brownish red with (+++) flavour. The fruits shrink as much as 2.479 grams. On the treatment day-1, they shrink as much as 0.901 grams, meanwhile on the control day-5 the fruits’ color are blackish red with (++) flavour. The fruits shrink as much as 10 grams. On the treatment day-5, the fruits’ color are faded red with (+) flavour. The fruits’ size increase as much as 2.172 grams. The conclusion is that the amount of microbes in the treatment group is more than the amount of microbes in the control group because of the lactid acid bacteria, and the shrink in the control group is bigger than in treatment group. Finally, it can be concluded that the lactid acid from cabbage waste fermentation can be utilized as the preservative of strawberries and grapes.
