Abstract

This research is motivated by the increase in digital da'wah which highlights women's spirituality emotionally and reflectively. The @aniqqalfaqiroh account has become the focus because it consistently discusses motherhood, marriage wounds, and women's inner recovery. This research formulates three main questions: how is the rhetoric of da'wah used, how is the representation of women's spirituality constructed, and what forms of da'wah are displayed in digital content. This research aims to analyze the da'wah rhetoric used in conveying messages about women's spirituality, examine the representation of women's spirituality in content, and identify forms of da'wah that are raised on the themes of motherhood and marriage wounds. Theoretically, this research uses Aristotle's rhetorical theory (ethos, pathos, logos), Stuart Hall's theory of representation, and the concept of women's spirituality in Islam as a basis for analysis. The research methodology used is a descriptive qualitative approach with narrative analysis methods. Data was obtained through in-depth observation of video content and Instagram uploads, content analysis, and interviews with relevant informants. The analysis technique is carried out by categorizing rhetorical elements, forms of preaching, and the construction of spirituality representations that appear in digital narratives. The research results show that @aniqqalfaqiroh's preaching rhetoric combines ethos, for example, seen in the credibility of sharing spiritual experiences and household reflections, fostering trust in the audience, pathos, for example from gentle language, empathy, touching feelings to form a space for women to recover, and logos, for example, seen in the invitation to understand life's trials as a destiny to get closer to Allah and spiritual strengthening for women. Women's spirituality is represented as an active subject interpreting life's trials through the role of mother, parenting knowledge, and inner healing. The forms of da'wah on the @aniqqalfaqiroh account can be seen through the application of da'wah bil hal, bil verbal, and bil qalam. For example, bil hal da'wah can be seen from Muslim women through Sharia clothing styles that reflect the values of faith, verbal bil for example through advice in content videos and Muslimah seminar classes, and bil Qalam for example through the books Spiritual Motherhood and Embracing Disappointment as a spiritual reflection

Abstract

Household conflicts in contemporary Muslim societies are influenced not only by social and economic factors but also by individual psychological patterns, one of which is playing victim. This mindset is characterized by a tendency to perceive oneself as a victim, shift responsibility to one's spouse, and avoid self-reflection in resolving marital conflicts. This study aims to analyze the impact of playing victim on the fulfillment of spousal rights and obligations from the perspective of fiqh munakahat (Islamic family jurisprudence). Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study draws upon classical and contemporary Islamic legal literature as well as works on interpersonal psychology, which are analyzed through content analysis. The findings reveal that playing victim leads to a distortion of responsibility, hinders the fulfillment of spousal rights and obligations, and undermines communication and relational balance within the family. From the perspective of fiqh munakahat, such behavior may contribute to taqsir (negligence in fulfilling obligations) and, if sustained over time, may develop into conditions resembling nusyuz (persistent disregard of marital obligations). The novelty of this study lies in its integration of interpersonal psychological analysis and fiqh munakahat to explain how individual psychological tendencies can influence the implementation of family norms in Islam. These findings highlight the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in fostering marital relationships that are just, responsible, and harmonious.

Abstract

Organizational communication is a fundamental element in building coordination, working relationships, and the effectiveness of achieving organizational goals. This article aims to conceptually examine the meaning, function, media, forms, and flow of organizational communication in supporting the work dynamics of modern organizations. This study uses a qualitative approach based on literature review by examining various relevant concepts and theories of organizational communication. The results of the study indicate that organizational communication functions not only as a process of conveying messages, but also as a mechanism for integration, control, coordination, decision-making, and the formation of interpersonal relationships. Effective communication enables each member of the organization to clearly understand their roles, duties, and responsibilities. In addition, the use of appropriate communication media, whether interpersonal media, group media, or digital technology-based media, can accelerate the distribution of information and reduce the potential for misunderstandings. Verbal and nonverbal forms of communication also play an important role in strengthening the meaning of the message conveyed. Meanwhile, the flow of vertical, horizontal, internal, and external communication shows that organizations require an open, directed, and continuous communication system. This article emphasizes that organizational success is greatly influenced by the ability to manage messages, communication networks, relationships between members, and responses to a dynamic environment. Thus, organizational communication can be understood as the primary foundation for creating an organization that is adaptive, productive, and oriented toward achieving shared goals.

Abstract

This study analyses the public communication strategy of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV (PTPN IV) Regional 1 Medan in building corporate image through Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programmes. The research employed a qualitative case study approach using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The findings show that PTPN IV Regional 1 implements proactive and transparent communication strategies through media relations, social media, and collaboration with the Medan City Government. One of the main programmes examined is the revitalisation of “instagrammable” bus stops as part of the TJSL initiative, which functions not only as a public facility improvement programme but also as a medium for strengthening corporate image. The study also reveals that public relations play an important role in managing public opinion, maintaining communication consistency, and building stakeholder trust. However, several challenges remain, particularly in stakeholder coordination, administrative processes, and programme implementation. Overall, the study confirms that effective public communication and social responsibility programmes contribute positively to strengthening corporate image and public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the internal communication strategy of leaders at the Tenera Machine Factory (PMT) Dolok Ilir, a manufacturing organization operating without a formal Public Relations (PR) department. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that the unit leader performs a substitution function for PR through a hybrid communication strategy. This strategy integrates the use of WhatsApp Groups as a digital channel for rapid and transparent information dissemination, combined with interpersonal communication through "ngumpul pagi" (morning gathering) activities to provide clarification and build emotional closeness. Although the absence of a PR unit poses challenges in the form of message distortion risks and information overload centered on the leader, the use of informal communication channels and a relay system has proven effective in minimizing these obstacles. This study concludes that the leader's interpersonal communication competence and the optimization of instant media are key to the effectiveness of information flow within a minimalist organizational structure.

Abstract

Inflation has long been treated as a phenomenon of modern industrial capitalism, yet classical Muslim scholars had already developed sophisticated analyses of price instability several centuries earlier. This study examines the theory of inflation developed by Taqiyuddin Ahmad bin Ali al-Maqrizi (1364 to 1442 CE) in his treatise Ighatsah al-Ummah bi Kasyf al-Ghummah, and explores its relevance to the inflationary dynamics of post-pandemic Indonesia between 2020 and 2024. Employing a qualitative library research design with content analysis and comparative interpretation, the study draws on the Arabic edition of the treatise, the critical translation of Allouche, and a wide range of secondary literature including Bank Indonesia reports and contemporary Islamic economics journals. The findings reveal that al-Maqrizi classified the causes of inflation into natural inflation and inflation arising from human error, with the latter encompassing administrative corruption, excessive taxation, and the over-issuance of fulus or non-precious currency. His prescription of returning to a stable monetary standard based on dinar and dirham, combined with the moral reform of the ruling class, anticipated the quantity theory of money by several centuries. When read against contemporary Indonesia, his framework displays striking explanatory power in interpreting Bank Indonesia's unconventional liquidity expansion during the pandemic, persistent corruption within public institutions, and the volatility of food prices that burden lower-income households. The study concludes that al-Maqrizi's thought should not be treated merely as historical heritage but as a living intellectual resource for understanding present-day macroeconomic challenges in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study was prompted by the emergence of a case regarding permission for polygamy based on the grounds that the wife was unable to fulfill her biological obligations, as outlined in the Decision of the Jember Religious Court No. 3066/Pdt.G/2024/PA.Jr. This issue is important to examine because it relates to the construction of the judge’s reasoning in interpreting biological obligations within the household according to Islamic family law and positive law in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the judge’s reasoning in granting permission for polygamy and to assess its consistency with the principles of Islamic family law. This study employs a normative legal research method using a case study approach through the analysis of court rulings, legislation, Islamic family law literature, and other relevant legal materials. The results indicate that the judge interprets the inability to fulfill biological obligations as part of the condition where a wife cannot perform her duties as stipulated in the Compilation of Islamic Law. However, this reason is not used as the sole basis but is considered alongside other requirements such as the wife’s consent, economic capacity, and readiness to act fairly. This study concludes that judges’ rulings have sought to integrate the principles of justice, public interest, and positive legal provisions into religious judicial practice, thereby contributing to the development of contemporary Islamic family law scholarship.

Abstract

This study analyzes the BMKG's disaster communication strategy through the Instagram account @infobmkgsumut using the perspectives of media ecology and the social construction of reality. This study is motivated by the importance of delivering disaster information quickly, clearly, and easily understood by the public, especially in the context of North Sumatra, which is vulnerable to extreme weather, tidal flooding, hydrometeorological disasters, and seismic activity. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation of Instagram content, documentation of posts, and interviews with six informants from the Asahan, Pematang Siantar, Langkat, Deli Serdang, and Medan regions. The results show that @infobmkgsumut constructs risk through early warnings, infographics, reels, press releases, weather symbols, regional markers, event periods, and awareness narratives. Disaster risk is not only conveyed as technical data, but is packaged as a social reality that needs to be understood and responded to preventively. Public acceptance of disaster messages is influenced by visual clarity, regional relevance, local experience, and the ease of information being applied in daily activities. This study concludes that Instagram acts as a media ecology that shapes how disaster messages are produced, visualized, received, and internalized by the public.

Abstract

The transfer of child custody in Islamic family law may be granted when the holder of hadanah is unable to ensure the child’s safety, as stipulated in Article 156(c) of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). There is a gap in legal scholarship regarding the suitability of an active smoker as a custodial parent. This normative legal study aims to analyze Article 156(c) of the KHI through the perspective of maqashid syariah regarding cases involving mothers who are active smokers. The results of the study indicate that Article 156(c) of the KHI establishes hadanah as a conditional right. In judicial practice, judges have begun to apply a risk-based approach regarding the dangers of exposure to cigarette smoke. The novelty of this study emphasizes that active smoking by a caregiver is not a neutral condition, but rather a form of dharar that threatens hifz al-nafs (protection of life) and hifz al-nasl (protection of offspring) of the child. Thus, treating active smoking as a risk factor in custody and a basis for transferring custody is normatively valid and consistent with the maqashid of Sharia in protecting the best interests of the child.

Abstract

The use of TikTok as a short-video social media platform has transformed the way Generation Z builds social interaction and relationships. This study aims to identify changes in communication practices and social relations among Generation Z resulting from the use of TikTok. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design focusing on the Generation Z community in Kelurahan Kota Matsum, Sumatera Utara. Informants were selected using purposive sampling with the criteria of Generation Z individuals who actively use TikTok, with a total of six informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and non-participant observation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the use of TikTok encourages changes in communication practices from face-to-face communication toward digital interaction characterized by visual, brief, and symbolic forms. Social relationships among Generation Z tend to become more flexible and fluid, and are no longer entirely dependent on physical proximity. Social relations are interpreted as digitally mediated connections influenced by self-representation and audience responses. In addition, TikTok’s algorithm plays a role in shaping social connectivity through content visibility mechanisms. These findings indicate that TikTok functions as a digital social space as well as a primary medium in the transformation of Generation Z communication practices from face-to-face interaction to digital interaction. The study implies that the dominance of digital interaction reshapes the quality of social relations and social cohesion among Generation Z at the local community level, highlighting the need for adaptive communication strategies to maintain a balance between digital interaction and face-to-face communication.
