Abstract

This study aims to examine the standing of Islamic education as a scientific discipline through ontological, epistemological, and axiological reviews, correlating these with the characteristics of Islamic teachings in religion, worship, creed, science, and culture. This research employs a qualitative library research method with a philosophical and descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data sources include the Qur'an, Hadith, and classical works of Muslim philosophers such as Al-Ghazali and Ibn Sina, while secondary sources consist of contemporary books and journals. Data collection uses documentation techniques, and data analysis is conducted using content analysis and logical synthesis. The findings reveal that ontologically, Islamic education encompasses a holistic view of reality, including both material and non-material aspects. Epistemologically, it constructs knowledge through the integration of naqli (revealed) and aqli (rational) arguments via analytical and synthetical methods. Axiologically, Islamic education contains both physical and spiritual values, with religious value as the highest objective. In conclusion, Islamic education fully meets the criteria as a valid and universal scientific discipline, holding significant relevance in addressing modern challenges. Strengthening this philosophical foundation is essential for formulating contextual and civilization-oriented Islamic education policies

Abstract

Throughout 2023, there was a significant increase in waqf disputes in Indonesia, indicating a complex interaction between social customs, positive law, and religious traditions. Using thematic interpretation techniques and legal provisions for resolving waqf litigation in Indonesia, this study seeks to examine the acculturation of Qur’anic values. Employing a qualitative research method with a normative-sociological legal approach, this study analyzes primary data in the form of laws and regulations related to waqf, religious court decisions in 2023, and interviews with actors involved in waqf protection and dispute resolution. The findings show that waqf dispute resolution in Indonesia in 2023 was dominated by issues related to the ownership status of waqf land, the determination of nazir, and the use of waqf benefits that contradicted the objectives of the waqif. The thematic interpretation of Qur’anic verses related to waqf, particularly QS. Ali ‘Imran [3]: 92, QS. al-Baqarah [2]: 261, and QS. al-Baqarah [2]: 271, produces an understanding that waqf is a multidimensional form of worship containing spiritual, social, and economic dimensions. The acculturation of these Qur’anic values with positive legal regulations, particularly Law Number 41 of 2004 concerning Waqf and the regulations of the Indonesian Waqf Board, creates a framework for dispute resolution based on the principles of benefit, justice, and the preservation of waqf assets. This study recommends the need to harmonize public religious understanding with positive legal regulations through waqf education based on thematic interpretation and by strengthening the role of the Indonesian Waqf Board in mediating waqf disputes.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of improving public service quality and implementing smart governance to enhance community satisfaction, particularly at the Department of Population and Civil Registration of Langkat Regency. The main problem addressed in this study is the extent to which public service quality and smart governance implementation influence community satisfaction. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 205 respondents. Data analysis techniques include validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that public service quality has a positive and significant effect on community satisfaction, and smart governance implementation also has a positive and significant effect. Simultaneously, both variables significantly influence community satisfaction, with a model explanatory power of 69%. These findings suggest that service quality remains the dominant factor in improving community satisfaction, while smart governance acts as a supporting factor that enhances the effectiveness of public services. The implication of this study emphasizes that improving community satisfaction requires synergy between high-quality services and the utilization of technology in governance. Therefore, the integration of conventional and digital services is a crucial strategy to achieve effective, efficient, and citizen-oriented public service delivery.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of the media and communication channels used by the North Sumatra Tourism Office in promoting the 2024 North Sumatra Tourism Festival event to students in the Diploma IV MICE Study Program at the Medan State Polytechnic. A quantitative descriptive approach was used, with 170 MICE students selected through random sampling. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire with four main indicators: ease of access to promotional media, effectiveness of digital media in attracting young audiences, consistency of information across platforms, and suitability of communication channels to audience characteristics. Data were analyzed through validity, reliability, and descriptive frequency analysis. The results showed that the effectiveness of the North Sumatra Tourism Office's media and communication channels was categorized as good, with an overall average score of 3.87. Digital media such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube were considered the most effective because they were able to reach students quickly, engagingly, and interactively. This study concludes that the effectiveness of tourism public communication is determined not only by the content of the message, but also by the suitability of the media and delivery method to the behavior and needs of the audience.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim in strengthening community religiosity in the era of globalization. This research employed a qualitative approach using library research and content analysis methods. Data were obtained from Qur’anic verses, hadith, Islamic education textbooks, scholarly journals, and laws and regulations related to religious education. The findings indicate a strategic correlation between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim in four main areas, namely education, religion, social community life, and profession. Islamic Religious Education provides a structured foundation of knowledge, while Majelis Taklim functions as a practical and contextual reinforcement. The synergy between the two is able to overcome the limitations of formal learning and strengthen the internalization of Islamic values in everyday life. This study concludes that collaboration between Islamic Religious Education and Majelis Taklim is an effective strategy for shaping a society that is faithful, pious, and morally upright. The study recommends strengthening cooperation between Islamic Religious Education teachers and Majelis Taklim administrators through scheduled joint programs and policy support from the government. Thus, community religiosity is expected to grow and become stronger amid various contemporary moral challenges.

Abstract

Increased work mobility among contemporary Muslim families has led to the emergence of long-distance marriage as a form of household adaptation to unavoidable economic pressures. This study aims to analyze the driving factors of long-distance marriage (LDM), its impact on communication, trust, and marital satisfaction, as well as its implications from the perspective of Islamic Family Law through the concept of mu'asyarah bil ma'ruf. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study design, conducted in Kradenan Subdistrict, Grobogan Regency, involving five informants selected through purposive sampling based on the criterion of currently being in or having previously been in a long-distance marriage for at least one year. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that LDM among all informants was primarily driven by economic factors and work demands, rather than as an ideal relational choice. The impact is ambivalent: physical distance increases the risk of loneliness and reduced marital satisfaction, yet simultaneously encourages couples to build more mindful communication and actively maintain trust. An analysis based on the concept of mu'asyarah bil ma'ruf indicates that the indicator of financial support is consistently met, the indicator of respectful communication is met to varying degrees, while the indicator of protection from domestic burdens is the most vulnerable area. This study confirms that mu'asyarah bil ma'ruf is a dynamic and contextual principle, determined not merely by physical presence, but by the quality of the husband’s attention, responsibility, and emotional presence even when separated by distance.

Abstract

This study examines the role of television media in children’s broadcasting in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the quality and suitability of children’s programs. The increasing exposure of children to television content raises concerns regarding its educational value, moral implications, and potential impact on child development. This research employs a systematic literature review approach guided by PRISMA 2020 standards, analyzing relevant scholarly works on television media, children’s programming, and media effects. The findings reveal that television remains a significant medium for children due to its wide accessibility and strong influence on cognitive, social, and behavioral development. However, the quality of children’s programs in Indonesia is inconsistent, with many broadcasts prioritizing entertainment and commercial interests over educational content. Inappropriate content, including violence and consumer-oriented messages, may negatively affect children’s attitudes and behavior, particularly when not accompanied by parental supervision. Conversely, well-designed educational programs can contribute positively to children’s communication skills and social development. The study concludes that improving the quality of children’s television programming requires stronger regulatory enforcement, greater industry responsibility, and active parental involvement. This research contributes to the discourse on media regulation and child protection by highlighting the need for more child-friendly broadcasting policies in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the urgency of nonformal education in improving the educational quality of Madrasah Aliyah students in Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency. The study is grounded in the reality of limited instructional time allocation in madrasahs, particularly in foreign language mastery and life skills development, which therefore requires reinforcement through nonformal education pathways. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a multidisciplinary perspective encompassing normative theology, pedagogy, psychology, and sociology. The research was conducted in Sungguminasa, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi. Primary data sources consisted of students, teachers, managers of nonformal education institutions, officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Department of Education, as well as members of the community. Secondary data were obtained from literature reviews and policy documents. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and triangulation. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal that: (1) the profile of nonformal education in Sungguminasa is supported by strong theological, normative, and juridical foundations, although it continues to face paradigmatic and structural constraints; (2) the quality of nonformal education is pursued through the implementation of national standards in terms of input, process, output, and outcome; and (3) nonformal education plays a highly significant role in developing learning strategies, academic competence, cognitive-affective-psychomotor domains, character, and students’ personalities. The study concludes that nonformal education is an essential necessity that must be synergistically integrated with formal and informal education to achieve holistic and sustainable educational quality among Madrasah Aliyah students.

Abstract

The phenomenon of pornography in the digital era is no longer merely understood as an individual moral issue, but has evolved into a social problem that affects self-control, sexual behavior, and family stability. Studies of Islamic law have tended to focus on prohibition and prevention, while rehabilitative approaches to pornography addicts remain relatively limited. This study aims to analyze and construct arguments regarding the role of marriage as a mechanism for moral rehabilitation for pornography addicts from the perspective of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research analyzed through a thematic-conceptual approach based on maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah. Data sources include the Qur'an, hadith, maqāṣid literature, and scientific research related to pornography, sexual behavior, and Islamic family law. The results of the study indicate that pornography disrupts the protective functions of reason (ḥifẓ al-‘aql), honor (ḥifẓ al-‘ird), and offspring (ḥifẓ al-nasl).
