Abstract

Although Law No. 16 of 2019 concerning the Amendment to Law No. 1 of 1974 on Marriage has raised the minimum legal age of marriage to 19 years for both men and women, child marriage remains a pressing social phenomenon in Indonesia. Beyond its legal dimension, this issue also contains theological aspects that require the reconstruction of religious understanding. This article examines how legal regulation and thematic Qur’anic interpretation can work together to prevent child marriage in Indonesia. Using a qualitative research method with document analysis and literature study approaches, this study argues that the reconstruction of Qur’anic values through thematic interpretation, particularly concerning the concepts of bulūgh (maturity), rushd (responsibility), and maṣlaḥah (public benefit), can provide a theological foundation for strengthening regulations against child marriage. As a result of this synergy, Islamic law is understood not merely as requiring biological age, but also as emphasizing psychological, emotional, and socio-economic maturity that can be objectively measured for a marriage to be considered valid and beneficial. These findings have practical implications for the formulation of child protection measures in Indonesia and offer an academic contribution to the development of contextual Islamic jurisprudence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the instructional communication patterns of the flag-raising team coaches in fostering student discipline at SMA Negeri 1 Hamparan Perak and to identify communication barriers that arise during the training process. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the coaches' instructional communication patterns are structured through providing directions, delivering instructions, corrections, as well as evaluation and feedback. The communication applied not only serves to convey training instructions, but also fosters student discipline through instilling the values of responsibility, compliance with rules, and self-awareness. Discipline that initially emerged due to external control develops into internal awareness that is applied in academic and daily life. Communication barriers found include differences in member characters, varying levels of understanding, lack of focus, physical fatigue, and environmental factors. Therefore, structured and consistent instructional communication plays an important role in fostering student discipline in flagraising team extracurricular activities.

Abstract

The historiography of Islam in Patani has long been dominated by narratives of political conflict and intellectual history centered on male scholars and manuscript traditions. As a result, the contributions of women to the development of Islamic intellectual traditions in Patani have received limited scholarly attention. This study aims to reconstruct the role of women in the intellectual history of Islam in Patani while identifying historiographical biases that have contributed to their marginalization in previous studies. The research employs a historical method with a critical historiography approach combined with a qualitative systematic literature review. Data were collected from scholarly books and journal articles published between 1990 and 2025 that discuss Patani history, Pondok institutions, Islamic education, and gender relations. The analysis was conducted through historiographical criticism, close reading, and reading against the grain to uncover traces of women's involvement that have remained obscured within dominant historical narratives. The findings reveal that the limited representation of women in Patani's Islamic historiography is not due to the absence of their contributions, but rather to the dominance of conflict-oriented perspectives and text-centered approaches that regard manuscripts as the primary indicator of intellectual authority. This study demonstrates that Tok Guru Perempuan played a significant role in the transmission of religious knowledge, the management of female Pondok institutions, basic Islamic education, the preservation of Jawi literacy, and the maintenance of intellectual networks among ulama families. During periods of political crisis, women also functioned as key actors in sustaining Islamic education and preserving Malay-Muslim identity in Patani. Therefore, women should be recognized as an integral part of Patani’s Islamic intellectual history whose contributions have largely been overlooked in historical writing. This study highlights the importance of developing a more inclusive historiography to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the development of Islam in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the actualization of Majelis Taklim implementation in Indonesia by focusing on three main aspects: its institutional foundation, the challenges encountered, and future prospects for its development. This study employs library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach, in which data were collected through the examination of various primary and secondary sources, including laws and regulations, books, scholarly journals, and relevant official documents. The findings indicate that the implementation of Majelis Taklim has a strong legal foundation through Law Number 20 of 2003, Government Regulation Number 55 of 2007, and Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation Number 29 of 2019. Its implementation is also supported by management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision, as well as active community participation. Nevertheless, Majelis Taklim faces serious challenges arising from globalization and digital disruption, moral decline within society, and materialistic tendencies that prioritize worldly affairs. This study also formulates future prospects for Majelis Taklim as a center for strengthening faith, reinforcing social and Islamic brotherhood, and serving as a tri-center of religious knowledge within society. The study concludes that strengthening management, improving human resource capacity, and embracing digital transformation are essential for Majelis Taklim to remain relevant and contribute optimally to religious education in Indonesian society.

Abstract

The increasing divorce rate in Indonesia indicates that family issues are not only related to legal aspects, but are also influenced by psychological factors, such as communication, emotional management, and conflict resolution skills. In this context, the Family Psychology course plays a role in developing preventive awareness of divorce, especially among Islamic Family Law students who will face various family issues in society. This study aims to analyze the role of the Family Psychology course in developing preventive awareness of divorce among students of the Islamic Family Law Study Program at STDI Imam Syafi'i Jember. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with six students who have or are currently taking the Family Psychology course, supported by documentation and previous research reviews. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the Family Psychology course plays a role in developing students' understanding of family dynamics and the importance of communication, emotional regulation, conflict management, empathy, and understanding of roles within the family as an effort to maintain household harmony. Most informants experienced changes in understanding after attending the course, although the level of influence felt varied according to each individual's initial knowledge and learning experience. This study confirms that the integration of family psychology and Islamic family law perspectives can contribute to building preventive awareness of divorce and become the basis for developing more participatory and contextual learning in Islamic higher education environments.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of spiritual mentoring conducted by teachers in enhancing students’ learning motivation within the madrasah environment. Learning motivation remains a significant issue influenced not only by academic factors but also by students’ psychological conditions and social environments. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design conducted at MA Mirqotul Ulum Liprak Kulon Banyuanyar. The research subjects consisted of teachers and students involved in spiritual mentoring activities who were selected purposively based on their direct participation in the mentoring process. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that spiritual mentoring was implemented through several interconnected strategies, including group mentoring, individual approaches, teacher role modeling, and the habituation of religious practices. These strategies were integrated into both classroom learning activities and extracurricular programs. The study found that students demonstrated increased engagement in learning, stronger discipline, and greater responsibility toward academic tasks. Learning motivation developed alongside students’ growing awareness of learning as part of their personal values and spiritual responsibilities. Supporting factors included a conducive school environment and positive teacher–student relationships, while the main challenges were limited time allocation and differences in students’ backgrounds. The findings indicate that the integration of spiritual approaches in educational practices contributes positively to the development of students’ internal learning motivation.

Abstract

This study analyzes family communication in the film *Bila Esok Ibu Tiada* through the lens of Tzvetan Todorov’s narrative structure theory. The primary focus of this study is to understand how family communication is constructed and influenced by emotional conflicts, particularly between mother and child, as depicted in the film. This study identifies five narrative stages in the film: initial equilibrium, disruption, recognition of the disruption, attempt to repair, and new equilibrium. Each stage is analyzed to examine how the dynamics of family Communication are manifested through the plot, conflict, and resolution. The results indicate that Todorov’s narrative structure is effective in depicting changes in family communication, particularly within the context of mother-child relationships influenced by dramatic events within the family. This study makes a new contribution to communication studies by integrating Todorov’s narrative theory into the analysis of family communication in film. Thus, this study not only enriches the field of family communication research but also offers a new approach to analyzing film as a narrative text.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed public relations practices, particularly through the use of social media as a means of communication between organizations and their publics. Instagram has become one of the platforms widely used by organizations to disseminate information, build institutional image, and establish closer relationships with society. In the context of public organizations and state-owned enterprises, public trust constitutes an important asset that must be developed and maintained through effective communication. This study aims to analyze strategies for enhancing public trust through Instagram content and public relations interactions at Pelindo Regional 1. The study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observations of Pelindo Regional 1’s official Instagram account, documentation of posts and public interactions, and interviews with individuals involved in managing the organization’s social media. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which consists of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that strategies for increasing public trust were implemented through the presentation of informative, consistent, and transparent content, supported by responsive and dialogical public relations interactions. Instagram content functioned both as a medium for disseminating information and as a representation of organizational values, while public relations interactions served as a form of two-way communication that strengthened relationships between the organization and its publics. These findings demonstrate that the combination of high-quality content and effective interaction contributes to building public trust in Pelindo Regional 1.

Abstract

The development of digital media encourages companies, including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), to build strategic and consistent corporate communications through social media to strengthen the company's identity and reputation. This study aims to analyze the role of Corporate Public Relations of PTPN IV Regional I Medan in building the company's brand voice through the Instagram account @n4r1_mediacorporate. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods to understand the corporate communication practices carried out by public relations in translating the company's identity into digital communications. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using source triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results of the study indicate that Corporate Public Relations of PTPN IV Regional I Medan has a strategic role in building the company's brand voice through consistent, communicative, persuasive, educational, and informative digital communications with a semi-formal communication style adapted to the characteristics of social media without eliminating the company's professional identity as a SOE. Digital communication management through Instagram is considered quite effective in increasing audience engagement through interactions in the form of comments, likes, and positive responses to company content, and is able to strengthen the company's image and relationship with the public. However, this study also identified several challenges in maintaining brand voice consistency, such as rapidly changing social media trends, differences in creative ideas within the team, and adapting communication styles to diverse audiences. Therefore, increasing content creativity, posting consistency, and developing more interactive communication strategies is necessary to strengthen a company's brand voice and make it more relevant in the digital age.

Abstract

This study analyzes the ratio decidendi in Cibinong Religious Court Decision Number 4188/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Cbn on marriage annulment due to premarital relational status manipulation, using Sadd al-Dzari’ah as an interpretative framework. The case is significant because Indonesian law does not expressly recognize concealed relational status as a ground for annulment, although maintaining a marriage founded on dishonesty may generate mafsadah. This normative legal research uses case, statutory, and conceptual approaches, with legal materials collected through library research and analyzed qualitatively-normatively. The findings show that the panel annulled the marriage based on facts indicating the Respondent’s bad faith and linked them to Article 27(2) of the Marriage Law in conjunction with Article 72(2) of the Compilation of Islamic Law. Analytically, relational status manipulation was the initial cause, while maintaining the dishonesty-based marriage constituted dzari’ah ghalibah. The identified mafsadah comprised a strongly presumed risk of adultery and damage to the marriage contract’s integrity caused by ghurūr. Annulment before consummation (qabla dukhul) therefore served corrective and preventive functions, confirming the complementarity of positive law and Sadd al-Dzari’ah. Practically, the findings offer Religious Court judges a preventive assessment framework for assessing concealed facts, intent, evidence, and potential mafsadah in cases without replacing formal legal grounds.
