Abstract

This study is a qualitative research aimed at the Balinese language discourse. This research was done on the grounds separately to determine the use of the Balinese language used in Balinese language discourse. It is also to see how big a role other languages spoken in the discourse of the Balinese language, resulting in the phenomenon of code-mixing. Subjects in this study is the discourse of the Balinese language. The object of this research are the Code Mixing of Balinese language discourse. Data collection methods used were observation and documentation. While this research instrument was the data card. Data were analyzed through the stages; data reduction, identification, classification, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study can be seen that there was code-mixing in Yong Sagita songs on the album. Languages are often appears on code-mixing into is Indonesian. Code-mixing types were based on speech level language, the level of the word is the type most commonly found in the study, because the level of the most easily understood words. Factors that cause the interference of code in a pop song Bali Yong Sagita is because of the speakers and linguistic factors. Keywords: Mixed code, Discourse, Language Bali.   ABSTRAK  Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang ditujukan pada Wacana Bahasa Bali. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan alasan utnuk mengetahui penggunaan bahasa Bali yang digunakan pada Wacana Bahasa Bali. Selain itu juga melihat seberapa besar peranan bahasa lain yang digunakan pada Wacana Bahasa Bali, sehingga terjadi fenomena campur kode. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah Wacana Bahasa Bali. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah Campur Kode yang terdapat pada wacana Bahasa Bali. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan dokumentasi.  Sedangkan Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan kartu data. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan; reduksi data, identifikasi, klasifikasi, penyajian, dan penarikan simpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa terjadi campur kode pada album lagu Yong Sagita. Bahasa yang sering muncul pada campur kode ke dalam adalah bahasa Indonesia. Jenis campur kode berdasarkan tingkat tutur bahasa, tataran kata merupakan jenis yang paling banyak ditemukan pada penelitian, karena tataran kata paling mudah dipahami. Faktor yang menyebabkan adanya campur kode dalam lagu pop Bali Yong Sagita adalah karena faktor pembicara dan faktor kebahasaan. Kata kunci: Campur kode, Wacana, Bahasa Bali.

Abstract

To bring humor or social criticism, a cartoon on newspapers usually uses two kinds of text, such as visual text and verbal text. Both of them are reinforcing the message that delivered by the cartoonist, either humor or criticism. If one of these texts does not exist, the message will be very difficult to understand as they need each other.  Konpopilan cartoon is published in Kompas newspaper every Sunday is different. This cartoon firmly states ‘itself’ is a work of visual communication. That background study brought this research has some objectives, such as; (a) To describe the visual language that the Konpopilan cartoons were published in Kompas Newspaper in 2016, (b) To describe the meaning of denotation and connotation of Konpopilan cartoons in Kompas newspaper in 2016. This research used Qualitative research. The results of this research shown that the visualization of Kompopilan cartoons are a man who wears traditional woven bamboo hat and animals. This research uses visual language as it mean discussion. Cara Wimba uses very long shot, long shot, and medium long shot, Tata Ungkap Dalam uses normal perspective, Tata Ungkap Luar is not presented in 1 frame cartoon style but presented by strip comic that uses more than one frame. Denotation meaning of this cartoon is described by the person who wears a traditional woven bamboo hat and some animals that has connotation meaning as a cartoon focusing on social criticsm; how human being should take care of the environment and anti corruption.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bahan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk Tata Graha yang dibutuhkan oleh mahasiswa Tata Graha di PPLP Pansophia Singaraja, mendeskripsikan bagaimana bahan pembelajaran dikembangkan dan menganalisa kualitas bahan pembelajaran yang telah dikembangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan yang disarankan oleh Hannafin dan Peck (2014) yang terdiri dari analisis kebutuhan, rancangan, dan pengembangan atau pengimplementasian dimana pada setiap tahapnya diikuti dengan tahap evaluasi dan revisi. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner, panduan wawancara, analisa dokumen dan daftar periksa. Hasil temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 12 topik yang perlu dikembangkan yaitu menyambut dan menyapa tamu, memperkenalkan diri dan orang lain, menjelaskan fasilitas hotel dan jasa, menjelaskan fasilitas kamar hotel, berurusan dengan permintaan tamu, menawarkan jasa laundry, memberikan arah di dalam bangunan hotel, memberikan arah ke objek wisata, berkomunikasi melalui telepon, menangani keluhan tentang tata graha, membuat surat lamaran dan daftar riwayat hidup, dan berurusan dengan wawancara kerja. Bahan pembelajaran yang dikembangkan mengikuti rancangan bahan English for Specific Purposes yang disarankan oleh Hutchinson dan Waters (2008) yang terdiri dari input, content focus, language focus dan task. Karena Bahasa Inggris untuk Tata Graha adalah bagian dari English for Specific Purposes yaitu Bahasa Inggris untuk tujuan pekerjaan, efektivitas bahan yang dikembangkan dievaluasi menggunakan kriteria bahan ESP baik yang disarankan oleh Litz (2005), Hutchinson dan Waters (2008), dan Tomlinson (2009). Tes validasi menunjukkan bahwa produk penelitian ini ada pada kategori baik yang berarti bahwa bahan pembelajaran tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai sumber utama untuk pembelajaran oleh calon staf tata graha di PPLP Pansophia Singaraja.Kata kunci: Bahan Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris, Tata Graha

Abstract

Pada umumnya terdapat beberapa persyaratan yang hendaknya dipenuhi oleh guru yang berkualitas.Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) atau konsursium lintas wilayah yangmenangani asesmen dan dukungan terhadap guru baru seperti yang dikutip dari Slavin (2006:23) menyebutkan10 prinsip yang harus dikuasai oleh seorang guru. Prinsip-prinsip tersebut telah digunakan sebagai landasandalam tes sertifikasi guru. Salah satu prinsip tersebut adalah asesmen pembelajaran siswa. Gagasan ini jugadidukung oleh Harmer (2001:58-67) yang menyatakan bahwa guru tidak hanya bertindak sebagai pengendalitetapi juga sebagai asesor yang menawarkan umpan balik dan koreksi serta menilai siswa dengan berbagaicara. Dengan demikian, asesmen memegang peranan yang penting dalam pembelajaran.Peran penting ini juga berlaku pada pengajaran Bahasa Inggris pada anak-anak. Pemilihan strategiasesmen hendaknya memperhatikan karakteristik peserta didik di mana mereka berbeda dengan pembelajardewasa. Strategi yang dipilih hendaknya autentik, kontekstual dan bermakna, contohnya adalah observasitidak terencana, observasi terencana, asesmen berkelanjutan, konferensi, portofolio, asesmen diri dan temansejawat, serta tes kelas.Kata kunci: guru berkualitas, asesmen, strategi asesmen

Abstract

The present study aims at finding out 1) words from other languages especially Englishwhich occur in Indonesian discourse and 2) Indonesian words which occur in Englishdiscourse used by mixed marriages family in the tourism area of Lovina. To reach theabove purposes, the data was collected through partisipant observation and analyseddescriptively. The result of the study shows that both Indonesian-English and English-Indonesian code mixing used by the family related to activities done by them such ashaving meal, doing out door activities, and school related topics. The English wordswere used in Indonesian discourse because it was almost imposible or far too complicatedto describe the mention things in Indonesian such as things related to food. Thiswas also the case found when Indonesian words were used in English discourse. Both English and Indonesian words consist of noun, verb, and adjectives.

Abstract

The study aimed at designing a Web-based promotion media used for the Department of Visual Communication Design (DIII) UNDIKSHA, as well as to find out and describe the students’ responses towards the implementation of a Web-based promotion media for the Department of Visual Communication Design. This study utilized a research and development method focusing on the implementation of CIPP model (consists of Context, Input, Process and Product) for developing a web design. Try out were conducted by one expert on media and another one expert in the content; three individual try out and eight small groups of the students from the Department of Visual Communication Design were also made as well as 30 respondents were used for field try out selected from the students of Department of Art Education, UNDIKSHA. The precentage score of the media expert judgement towards the web test was about 92.00% which could be categorized as an outstanding score. The percentage score of the content expert was about 86.00% which meant as a ‘good” qualification. The precentage score of the individual try out was about 79.38% which meant as a “fair” category. The percentage score of eight small groups try out was about 72.86% which meant as “fair” category. The precentage score of the field try out was about 86.40% which was classified as “good” category. The precentage score obtained from the responses provided by the students of the Department of Art Education was about 85.07% which was classified as “good” category. Finally, the website of Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Language and Arts at http://dkv.undiksha.ac.id/ was forwarded to the community of Department of Visual Communication Design (DIII) UNDIKSHA, Facebook, and Youtube.Key words: Department of Visual Communication Design, Ganesha University of Education, media, promotion, web.

Abstract

The qualitative research is aimed at describing language as an object of gender studies pioneered by Robin Lakoff. The data of the research were the special words and grammar which exclusively referred to be used by women and used as an object of gender studies. The findings show that one can often identify the values of society from the language used because language is a reflection of the society. The differences between the competitive assertive male style and cooperative supportive female style tend to dominate the studies conclusions about relations between gender and language. However, this should be considered with caution since language use also varies according to situational conditions.Keywords: language, gender, relation.

Abstract

This investigation aims to reveal the main problems: 1) Is there any relationship between the attitude and the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 2) Is there any relationship between the motivation and the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 3) ) Is there any influence the attitude towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 4) ) Is there any influence the motivation towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 5) Are there any influence the attitude and motivation towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 6) Is where have more influence towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department, their attitude or their motivation? 7) Is where musch be given more attention for improving the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department, their attitude or their motivation? This investigation was held at Undiksha in 2013/2014. The data of investigation were analized quantitatively by statistical analysis, namely: 1) simple correlation analysis, 2) linear regression analysis one predictor, 2) linear regression analysis two predictor. Finally, this investigation resulted the following findings: 1) There is a significant correlation between the attitude and the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. 2) There is a significant correlation between the motivation and the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. 3) ) There is a significant influence the attitude towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. 4) There is a significant influence the motivation towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. 5) There are a significant influence the attitude and motivation towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department? 6) Motivation have more influence towards the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. 7) There for, the motivation musch be given more attention for improving the Balinese learning achievement of the new university students at the Balinese education department. The conclution, the attitude and motivation have an influence towards the Balinese learning achievement. Suggested that, their attitude and motivation need to considerated on selection of a new university student at the Balinese education department – Undiksha.Key words: correlation, attitude and motivation, learning achievement

Abstract

ABSTRACT The poster is a type of media which  shows the Balinese culture during the colonial (Dutch) period.  It  aims to express the exoticness of Bali during the Dutch era. The significance of each sign on the poster depends on how one sees the culture. Posters as a visual communication medium expresses the meaning of the details and images through the viewpoint of semiotics. The discussion in this study will use a method of semiotic analysis conducted in understanding and reading of a masterpiece of visual communication design. The results of semiotic analysis in this article essentially can be described that the  poster in the colonial period refers to Balinese culture representing women as the main object. The significance of this Balinese woman is exotic, honest, and innocent. Plants, meru, and mountains also  on the poster show the beauty of Bali. The poster clearly shows that Bali is a paradise island.Key words: poster, colonial, significanceABSTRAK  Kajian poster sebagai media representatif dalam pencitraan identitas budaya Bali pada masa kolonial (Belanda) bertujuan untuk mengungkap tanda pada poster Bali di masa kolonial Belanda yang mampu menjadi media publikasi tentang keeksotikan Bali, dan bagaimana makna setiap tanda pada poster yang acap bertumpu pada konsep pemikiran budaya. Poster sebagai sebuah media komunikasi visual diungkap makna atas tanda yang muncul didalamnya melalui sudut pandang semiotika. Pembahasan dalam penelitian ini akan menggunakan metode analisis semiotika yang dilakukan dalam pemahaman dan pembacaan terhadap sebuah karya desain komunikasi visual. Hasil analisis semiotika dalam artikel ini dapat dideskripsikan bahwa pada hakekatnya poster Bali pada masa kolonial mengacu pada konsep kebudayaan dengan menghadirkan perempuan Bali sebagai obyek utama poster. Perempuan Bali ini memiliki makna eksotik, jujur dan polos. Pada poster juga dihadirkan tumbuhan, meru dan pegunungan yang memperlihatkan keindahan Bali. Dengan menunjukan gambaran seperti ini, tentu bertujuan untuk memperlihatkan Bali sebagai ‘pulau surga’. Poster Bali pada masa kolonial memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam mengkonstruksi citra identitas buadaya Bali sebagai pulau surga.Kata Kunci: Poster, Kolonial, Makna
