Abstract

Academic website is a technology that can help students obtain information about lectures. The Satya Wacana Academic Information System is an academic website used by Satya Wacana Christian University. Becoming an educational institution with high competitiveness in the quality of science and technology is the vision and mission upheld by UKSW. SIASAT is expected to help UKSW students to compete. Some of the issues complained about by the students is that SIASAT inability to keep up with technological advancements, lack of responsiveness, need for updates, and performance improvements. Therefore, the researchers proposed a solution to redesign the SIASAT website using the design thinking method. The design thinking method was chosen because it focuses on identifying user problems and providing solutions. Design thinking has five stages including Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Testing. In the testing stage, UKSW students were given a questionnaire using the System Usability Scale method to assess the feasibility of the redesign, resulting in a "Good" category with a Grade Scale of "B".

Abstract

In the digital age, mobile applications have become an integral part of everyday life, making usability testing an essential factor in ensuring a seamless user experience. Traditional usability testing methods often demand considerable resources, including time and cost, which calls for more efficient and automated alternatives. This study explores the use of sentiment analysis as an innovative approach to evaluate the usability of mobile applications. By analyzing user reviews from the Google Play Store, the research compares the effectiveness of four machine learning algorithms—Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, and Random Forest—in classifying sentiment and evaluating usability. A dataset consisting of 2,000 reviews from a banking app was collected and labeled based on usability criteria, such as efficiency, user satisfaction, learnability, memorability, and error rates. The feature extraction process utilized Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) to enhance the relevance of the review texts for sentiment analysis. The findings reveal that Random Forest achieved the highest accuracy (68.15%) and demonstrated the best performance in terms of F1 Score, precision, and recall, although it had the longest processing time. In contrast, Naive Bayes, while the fastest, showed lower accuracy and F1 Score, making it suitable for applications with large datasets or limited processing time. Decision Tree and SVM offered a balanced trade-off between speed and accuracy. The study concludes that Random Forest is the preferred choice when high accuracy and prediction performance are crucial, despite its longer processing time. Meanwhile, Naive Bayes is more appropriate for scenarios demanding rapid data processing, and SVM and Decision Tree are recommended when a balance between speed and accuracy is needed.

Abstract

The Open University Business Center has duties and functions that focus on the management and development of business units that support the operations and financial sustainability of the Open University. One of the policies handled is the selection of catering vendors used at every event in the Open University environment. Selecting the right catering vendor is a crucial factor in ensuring customer quality and satisfaction. There are 12 catering vendors who are partners of the Open University Business Center which are usually only assessed based on the presentation and quality of the food (Taste). In fact, besides these 2 criteria, there are still several other criteria that must be considered such as Punctuality, interest and vendor experience (administration). The SAW method was chosen because of its ability to carry out multi-criteria assessments simply and efficiently. Of the 12 catering vendors who collaborate with the Open University Business Center, a ranking will be given where the vendor with the highest score is considered most appropriate to the needs of the Open University Business Center. With this Decision Support System, it is hoped that the catering vendor selection process can be carried out objectively, transparently and faster so as to support better decision making at the Open University Business Center.

Abstract

Information systems have become an integral component in supporting the operations of student organizations at Satya Wacana Christian University (UKSW). These systems are designed to streamline data management, enhance communication, and improve operational efficiency, ultimately supporting academic and extracurricular activities. Despite their potential, the implementation of information systems in student organizations faces challenges, including technical limitations and resistance to change. This qualitative study employed a case study approach to explore the role, supporting factors, and challenges of information systems in student organizations at UKSW. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three student leaders, document analysis, and observation. A thematic analysis method was used to categorize and interpret the data, providing a comprehensive understanding of the system's impact and areas for improvement. The findings reveal that information systems significantly improve the efficiency of data management, event coordination, and communication among student organizations. Centralized data systems facilitate task distribution and enhance transparency and accountability. However, challenges such as technical limitations among students, system bugs, and inconsistent updates hinder optimal utilization. Strong institutional support, active student involvement, and continuous training were identified as critical enablers of successful implementation. The study highlights the need for improvements in user training, technical support, and system interactivity to overcome challenges and maximize the benefits of information systems. Recommendations include increasing system user-friendliness, ensuring regular updates, and fostering collaboration between IT teams and student organizations. These steps are crucial for enhancing system adoption, engagement, and overall effectiveness.

Abstract

The current of wisma’s Universita Terbuka reservation system still faces various obstacles, especially related to data consistency and integrity anomalies. This problem causes errors in recording and confusion in the transaction process, such as duplication of invoice numbers, which in turn can reduce reporting accuracy. This research aims to design a basis data for the Open University guesthouse reservation system using the Basis data Life Cycle (DBLC) method. This method includes several stages, starting from needs analysis, conceptual, logical, and physical basis data design. The results show a well-structured and optimized basis data design, which supports the management of reservation data, check-in, check-out, and room reservation management. The normalization process to achieve Third Normal (3NF) ensures that the data is free from redundancy and remains consistent. The physical model of the basis data is implemented using SQL queries, which are ready to be applied to a Basis data Management System (DBMS). The designed basis data is expected to improve operational efficiency, record accuracy, and maintain data integrity in the Open University guesthouse reservation system. This research is also expected to contribute to the development of literature on systematic life cycle-based basis data design.

Abstract

The optimization of the SwapEase application needs improvement to ensure users have a satisfying experience. SwapEase supports digital clothing exchanges to reduce the impact of fast fashion. This research approach uses the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) method. Six main dimensions are measured: attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation, and novelty. A survey was conducted among active users, and the data were analyzed using the UEQ Data Analysis Tool version 12 to produce average scores and standard deviations for each dimension. The analysis results show that the Attractiveness dimension received an average score of 1.17, Clarity 1.05, Efficiency 1.13, Dependability 1.01, Stimulation 1.15, and Novelty 0.87. SwapEase excels in efficiency, stimulation, and novelty, with scores above the benchmark average, reflecting positive perceptions of the application’s effectiveness and innovation. However, the dimensions of attractiveness, clarity, and dependability remain below average, indicating a need for improvements in visual appeal, usability, and reliability. By enhancing these less optimal aspects, SwapEase can better meet user needs and compete more effectively in the digital application market.

Abstract

This research aims to design and build an automatic watering and fertilization system for moon orchids (Phalaenopsis) based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the Fuzzy Logic method. Moon orchids have slow growth and are affected by environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, where the optimal temperature ranges from 25-27°C and air humidity between 60-85%. The system is designed to monitor and control the plant's environmental conditions in real time, as well as perform automatic watering when the soil humidity is below 35% and stop it when it is above 35%. Tests showed error rates between the various sensors used, such as a difference of 1.61% between the DHT22 temperature sensor and a thermometer, 1.78% for humidity between the DHT22 sensor and a hygrometer, and 8.32% between the soil moisture sensor and a soil moisture meter. The Purple Bloom application used in this system experienced an average delay of 6.11 seconds caused by the speed of the internet. Although there is a slight delay, this system provides convenience and efficiency in the maintenance of moon orchids. The use of IoT technology and artificial intelligence shows great potential in improving the productivity and efficiency of plant care.

Abstract

Self-medication is a practice that is often practiced by the public, especially to overcome common health problems. Self-medication can be done but it must be based on a good understanding and knowledge of the use of drugs and the risks that can be caused, especially when taking drugs that are combined with drugs that have different ingredients. Public awareness of self-medication is still low, this is due to the lack of information obtained about the indications and risks of using over-the-counter medicines. A Graph database is a model that can be implemented well to provide information because it can be visualized in graph form. The implementation of graphs for visualizing medicines to provide knowledge for the community when practicing self-medication is the right solution because it can present data and be well integrated. The system development carried out in providing drug information using graph modeling has provided satisfactory results by providing accurate and relevant responses.   Keywords : Self-medication; Medication; Graph Database; Basis Data Graf; Drugs; Information
