Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate what factors influenced on Teacher competencies Test (Uji Kompetensi Guru/UKG) of Indonesian ESL Senior High School teacher’s in West Java Indonesia. The data used in this study were derived from a teacher competencies test, and a questionnaire survey conducted among teachers who attended National Gathering of Senior High School English Teachers 2017 in Bandung, West Java. A total of 61 usable responses were received. The analysis was using Structural Equation Model (SEM) to see the correlations among variables also identify which predictors influenced most on Teacher Competencies Test. The result revealed that teacher competencies test was mostly influenced by education background (β =.27, p=0.028). It can be concluded that to increase the teacher’s competencies can be done by giving a chance to teachers to continue their study.

Abstract

This study is intended to explore the effect of process approach on students’ writing competency at SMK Negeri 1 Kubutambahan Bali. This study was experiment with pretest-posttest design. This study involved 30 students and the experiment was conducted three months. The data were collected through writing test. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis.. The result shows that the students’ mean score in pretest was 6.3 and the students’ mean score in posttest was 7.7. The result of t test shows a significant difference between pretest and posttest with Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000. It is suggested that English teacher should be focusing on the process of writing instead of product especially for English students who are still having low language proficiency. The result of the study implies that writing is a process. Writing is a process. The method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the 4-D model of developing procedure. The subjects in this study were students of SMK Negeri 5 Batam, the technical data analysis obtained from 5 experts. Analysis of the data used to measure the validity, practicality, and effectiveness by looking at the difference between the average score of learning scores before and after using the trainer with Gain Score and Standard Deviation. The results of the study met the instructional media qualifications from the assessment of experts with a level of 0.88 stated in the valid category. In practicality based on the teacher's response was 92.00% and on the student, responses were 90.50%. Effectiveness is obtained from the results of the pretest with an average score was 59.63%, from the results of the posttest with an average score of 79.63%, the N-gain of the average student was 0.37 and the standard deviation from N -gain was 0.52. So, PLC trainers are valid, practical, and effective in learning at school. The PLC media trainer can be used in the learning process at school.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop an E-learning module that can help students learn independently and valid, practical, and effective. This study was the Research and Development (R&D) research method with the 4D (four-D) development model. The research phase includes define (the defining stage), design (the design phase), develop (the development stage), and disseminate (the deployment stage). The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire used to measure validity and practicality. Meanwhile, to measure the effectiveness, it was using the test instrument in the form of multiple-choice questions. E-learning module was based on Project Based Learning. The results showed that the E-learning module was declared valid with a validity score was 91.50 based on the validation of three media validators and in terms of the validity of the material declared valid with the score was 91.50 from three teachers. E-learning modules stated to be very practical based on teacher and student responses. This showed that the E-learning module effectively used as one of the teaching materials in learning in improving student learning outcomes. Based on the findings of the study it can be recommended that the E-learning module was an alternative teaching material in learning that can be used in learning on electric motorization (IML) subjects.
