Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic, which began in early 2020 and was followed by restrictions prohibiting community activities and imposing stringent oversight, has severely impacted nearly all sectors of trade, particularly managers of micro and small businesses, also known as MSMEs. This study is explanatory in nature. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, selecting 74 MSME managers. Paired t-test analysis of the differences shows that the probability of increased sales volume through digital marketing media is greater than that of conventional marketing media. Additionally, the level of consumer response to MSMEs is higher when using digital marketing compared to conventional methods, and the intensity of interaction between MSME marketers and consumers is greater when using digital marketing media. The results of this study also demonstrate that the opportunity for MSMEs to promote or re-market products to potential consumers through digital marketing media is greater than for MSMEs still relying on conventional marketing methods.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of female directors and commissioners on the sustainability performance of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Drawing on previous research, it explores how gender diversity on corporate boards influences sustainability performance across three dimensions: financial, environmental, and social performance. The sample includes 56 non-financial companies listed on the IDX over the period 2019-2021. To analyze the data, the study employs Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and regression analysis on panel data samples. The results suggest that increasing the proportion of women on boards leads to improvements in both economic and social performance. Specifically, female board members demonstrate a stronger focus on social and economic issues related to stakeholders than their counterparts on boards of commissioners. This finding highlights the importance of gender diversity in driving better engagement and decision-making within companies. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on gender diversity in non-financial companies and underscores the need for a strategic approach to board composition. It suggests that companies should prioritize the right balance of female members on both boards of directors and commissioners to enhance overall sustainability performance. The practical implication of these findings is that policymakers and regulators should actively encourage gender diversity, as it can lead to more sustainable and responsible corporate practices.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between various economic factors—regional own-source revenue (PAD), general allocation funds (DAU), special allocation funds (DAK), natural resource revenue sharing (BHSDA), investment, and economic growth (PDRB)—and poverty levels in North Maluku Province. While economic growth is commonly associated with improvements in community welfare, North Maluku presents a paradox: despite increasing economic growth, poverty rates have also risen. The objective of this research is to assess the impact of these factors on poverty alleviation in the region. Using variance decomposition analysis, the study finds that the variables of PAD, DAU, DAK, BHSDA, investment, and PDRB collectively have a minimal influence on poverty reduction in North Maluku. This suggests that other factors, not captured by these variables, may play a more significant role in shaping poverty outcomes. The findings highlight the complexity of poverty dynamics in the region and imply that additional policy measures beyond economic growth and fiscal transfers may be necessary to effectively reduce poverty in North Maluku.

Abstract

Job satisfaction refers to the feeling of fulfillment and pleasure when expectations align with reality. A person's job satisfaction can be influenced by their intelligence, particularly spiritual and emotional intelligence. This study aims to describe the results of analyzing teacher job satisfaction through both spiritual and emotional intelligence, both individually and collectively, in Palu City. The research employed a survey method with a quantitative approach and multiple regression analysis. The population consisted of 417 teachers from public and private Madrasah Aliyah schools in Palu City, with a sample of 167 teachers determined using the Slovin formula. A Likert-scale questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The results indicate that both spiritual and emotional intelligence, both individually and together, have a positive and significant impact on teacher job satisfaction. Specifically, spiritual intelligence has a stronger influence (0.586) compared to emotional intelligence (0.315) on teacher job satisfaction. These findings suggest that both spiritual and emotional intelligence play a key role in enhancing teacher job satisfaction in Palu City, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence and impact of Electronic Word-of-Mouth (E-WOM) on the formation of product value and consumer purchase preferences in the cosmetic market context, referring to signal quality. The analysis was conducted within the dynamic digital market context, where product value is formed exogenously and is filled with uncertainty. This condition underscores the importance of reputation management and online consumer interaction for cosmetic companies in optimizing their products in the ever-evolving digital market arena. Unlike previous studies that explored product value formation conventionally, this research explores market interactions directly within the digital marketplace. This study employs a digital research method utilizing web scraping techniques with Python algorithms. The results reveal that the product value formed from E-WOM on the Bukalapak online marketplace for Kahf Face Wash products predominantly responds to signal quality from functional aspects. Additionally, E-WOM extends into the domain of social value. The analysis highlights that consumers evaluate this product comprehensively as an essential skincare necessity and as part of the entire market activation system, from packaging to seller service.

Abstract

Producers are required to provide quality products according to quality standards and consumer needs. Quality is one factor that consumers consider when buying a product. The coffee processing industry is rapidly growing because of the high demand for this product. "The X Coffee" is one of the ground coffee processing industries that applies quality control in its production process. Nevertheless, defects were still found in their products. This study aimed to identify the consumers' perception of the quality of ground-roasted coffee products. The research design used was a case study. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that consumer perceptions of coffee's price, colour, taste, and size were good and fit consumers' expectations. The most chosen attributes according to consumers' needs are product aroma and the least amount of coffee powder size. Improvements would be suggested related to the size of the coffee grounds for being too coarse to make them acceptable. Consumers perceived the packaging information as incomplete so more product information could be added to the package. The coffee beans tasted too bitter, which could reduce the roasting level. The priority improvement is to change the size of the coffee grind to a smoother one because it will affect the taste and convenience when consumed.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between management control systems and firm performance through firm capability. The research used a survey method in processing industrial companies with a population of 137. The number of samples analyzed was 63 samples. The analytical tool used to test the hypothesis is Partial Least Square (PLS) with the help of smart PLS software version 4.0. The research results succeeded in proving a direct relationship between the management control system affecting firm capability, the management control system on firm performance, and firm capability on firm performance. Apart from that, the results of this research also prove that firm capability can mediate the relationship between the management control system and firm performance. This indicates that the company’s success in achieving optimal performance and achieving competitive advantage lies in the strategy of implementing the management control system and firm capability. Therefore, the company continues to improve its management control system and capability so that firm performance can improve and achieve competitive advantage.

Abstract

This paper distinguishes between operations management and operations strategy, both of which play crucial roles in achieving organizational success. Operations management focuses on the efficient management of production processes, from input acquisition to output delivery, ensuring high-quality products and services. It involves key aspects like inventory control, capacity planning, quality management, and cost reduction. Over time, it has evolved with technological advancements and new methodologies like Just-In-Time (JIT) and Total Quality Management (TQM), emphasizing continuous improvement to meet customer expectations. On the other hand, operations strategy is concerned with aligning operational resources and capabilities with long-term market demands and business objectives. It involves strategic decision-making, such as competitive positioning, resource allocation, and innovation, and plays a vital role in shaping a company’s growth and sustainability in the marketplace. While these two areas are closely related, operations management typically addresses short-term operational tasks, whereas operations strategy focuses on long-term goals. This paper explores the differences and interconnections between operations management and strategy, integrating expert opinions and discussing their practical implications in both private and public sectors. Case studies, such as Tesla's operations strategy and Australia's Net Zero Plan 2050, illustrate how effective operations management and strategy drive both innovation and competitive advantage in dynamic markets.

Abstract

Welcoming the era of Society 5.0, through the program "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka," universities are expected to transform the higher education system as the driving force for creating superior human resources for the nation's future. This study aims to explain the dynamics of the independent learning program activities at the independent campus across seven faculties at Bhayangkara University, Jakarta. The research adopts a post-positivist paradigm with a case study approach, involving 25 informants and five key informants. Secondary data were obtained from the Sistem Pembelajaran Daring - Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi (SPADA DIKTI), which includes a compilation of data from students, lecturers, and education staff. Primary data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies related to the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka program. The data were analyzed descriptively using manual data analysis procedures. The results indicate that most faculties and study programs have not yet optimally explained the flow, program procedures, and complete infrastructure used in implementing the program. However, most students and lecturers acknowledge that the program is highly beneficial and critical for developing quality human resources for the future.

Abstract

This literature review examines how corporate culture development and integration in the mining industry affect employee management, including relations, engagement, and development. The aim is to analyze existing research to understand the significance and impact of corporate culture on employees within this sector. The review involved shortlisting 600 journals and analyzing 42 articles using a systematic critical review, complemented by a meta-analysis through VOS Viewer software. A taxonomy of the research gap was applied to identify areas for further exploration. The findings highlight the critical role of leadership in shaping and promoting corporate culture, as well as the strategies and approaches required for successful culture development initiatives in the mining industry. The meta-analysis from VOS Viewer suggests the need for further investigation into this area, while the systematic review uncovers gaps related to population, evidence, and knowledge. The study acknowledges limitations in the existing literature, recommending future research to address these gaps and enhance the understanding of effective corporate culture practices. The originality of this review lies in its methods, offering valuable insights for both practitioners and scholars interested in fostering corporate culture development and integration, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
