Abstract

This paper deals with the management of spare parts in the automotive sector using Lean practices in a synergistic manner. Managing cost-effective spare parts is essential for manufacturing and service companies. One of the most difficult challenges in effective management of spare parts is to manage and control the levels of stock. Effective management is essential to achieve the best service level in the automotive industry, unfortunately it is an industry which faces a great uncertainty in the demand for spare parts. The management of spare parts is difficult due to the infrequent profile that characterizes market demand. This creates a challenge among the distributors who need to have a large number of items (part numbers) in stock to avoid loss of sales. This paper shows the results of a case study on demand forecast of spare parts and inventory control, selecting the best policies within each SKU category. The methodologies achieved a reduction of the stock rupture, savings in purchases of supplies and greater fulfillment of orders that generated an increase of 22.49% in Sales.

Abstract

Logistics activities have become much concerned by many companies in term of an effective and efficient selection of Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider. The use of 3PL providers and its effects to the customer satisfaction is mostly discussed in the case of manufacturing industry considering information technology variable, but the inclusion of trust as moderating variable between customer loyalty and customer satisfaction is limited. This article aims to identify the factors considered by Indonesian companies in selecting 3PL. Respondents of this research are managers of logistics or persons in charge of logistics activities. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used to elaborate the relationship between factors affecting 3PL selection decision. The results indicate that Information Technology (IT) usage, service quality, trust and customer satisfaction are the factors affecting the companies to select a 3PL provider. Other results also show that there is a significant relationship between those factors.

Abstract

The competitiveness of the region and prosperity of economy are substantially caused by forming of competitive industry clusters in the supply chain strategy. With a force of the industry clusters making it the extensive list of scientific works is devoted to questions of a research of interrelation of competitive positions of the region. However today there is no standard approach to selection of indicators of competitiveness of a tourist cluster and to its assessment. Authors present an integrated approach to assessment of competitiveness of a tourist cluster of the region on the basis of a rhombus of competitive advantages of M. Porter and the system of accumulation of cost by subjects of this education in article. According to the offered approach the competitiveness of a tourist cluster of the region forms proceeding from complex assessment of competitiveness of every one of subjects in its structure. At the same time the competitiveness of subjects of a tourist cluster is measured proceeding from the competitive advantages reached by it. The combination of competitive advantages, participants of a cluster as well as their interaction provide synergy effect in improving competitiveness of a tourist cluster and, as a result, the region.

Abstract

The healthcare industry is shifting towards customer-focused similar to other service industries. The healthcare service providers and theorists have developed various measurement tools of customer experience (CE) to sustain the business. However, there are still unresolved issues related to CE measurement tools in the healthcare context need to be addressed. First, CE measurement tools still fail to capture the customers? journey towards healthcare service experiences truly. Second, the relevant variables representing each phase of CE, as well as their interrelationships, have rarely been explored and examined in the healthcare service industry. Thus, this research aims to develop and validate a CE measurement model by considering the relevant variables by representing three phases of customers? journey towards healthcare service delivery, namely cognitive, affective, and behaviour responses (CAB-CE). This research was conducted at Malaysian public hospitals. The customers who experienced service delivery at Malaysian public hospitals were selected as the respondents. The data were gathered via a questionnaire sent to the respondents using the convenience sampling technique. In total, 215 completed questionnaires were then proceeding to the data analysis stage. The structural equation modelling (SEM) using AMOS was performed to test the applicability of the model developed. SEM was also performed to simultaneously test the relationships among the variables of CE in a single model. The results revealed the validity and applicability of the CAB-CE model in measuring the CE in the healthcare service industry. Besides, the structural analysis has proven the relationships among the variables of customers? journey phases. Developing a CAB-CE model is hoped to contribute to the improvement of the existing CE measurement tools, both practically and theoretically, within the context of healthcare service.

Abstract

Green Supply Chain Management has been receiving a lot of attention in recent times. Attention on Reverse Logistics (RL) area has also been steadily growing. Reverse Logistics involves reduce-reuse-recycle as well as redesign, remanufacture, etc. It is a closed loop of the Supply Chain for value creation. Carter and Ellram (1998) discuss that Reverse Logistics can result in savings for an organization. Daugherty, Richey, Genchev, and Chen (2005) analyze where the resources in Reverse Logistics could be committed to achieve good Reverse Logistics Performance. The Automotive after-market in India is also in its nascent stages and has a huge scope for growth. Thus, a study in this area is definitely warranted. This paper gives a Conceptual framework for the RL Performance and Innovation in Automotive after-market with an emerging economy backdrop. The authors of this paper find fewer papers in these areas and this paper aims to fill this gap.

Abstract

The objective of the study is to explore and examine the forms and means employed by one zakat institution in Malaysia in discharging its accountability to the stakeholders. Case study approach was used in the study involving the use of both of primary and secondary data. The primary data was gathered via the face to face in-depth interviews that were conducted with the representatives of the zakat institution. The secondary data was gathered from different sources such as the zakat collection and distributions reports of the zakat institution. The interview data was analysed using a manual coding and the secondary data was content analysed using a thematic analysis. The study finds that the zakat institution studied has been discharging two categories of accountability that are financial or formal and social or informal form of accountability. The financial/formal form of accountability has been discharged mainly via the zakat collection and distribution reports. Meanwhile, it is observed that the latter category of accountability has been discharged through both of means that are account- and action-based mechanisms, which include zakat collection and distribution reports and various non-zakat society/community programs respectively.
