Abstract

Abstract— The main goal of the study is to develop methodological approaches to a formalized assessment of the impact of supply chain management and its individual components on the development parameters of key macroeconomic indicators of a region (for example, investment in fixed assets). Testing the proposed research algorithms made it possible to substantiate a high level of reputation significance in the formation of regional economic growth. The implemented factor analysis provided an identification of the impact of the individual sub-indices under consideration, which form the integral value of the region’s supply chain management, on investment activation processes. The Republic of Tatarstan acts as an object of the study. The subject of the research is a methodological toolkit for conducting factor analysis and assessing the impact of the region's reputation on the parameters and dynamics of investment processes. A key feature of the study is the proposed version of constructing a series of regression equations, where the region’s supply chain management index is one of the exogenous parameters. The use of elimination methods has allowed the formation of a factor analysis focused on the impact of the individual components of the index under study on investment processes. On the basis of the developed methodology for the formalized assessment of the region’s supply chain management, the authors have built models that assess the level of influence of sub-indices that form the basis for an integrated assessment of the territory’s reputation on investment dynamics. It is advisable to use the developed methodological approaches when developing new models of economic growth under conditions of increased importance and the role of intangible production factors. According to the results of the study, the influence of each of the sub-indices under consideration on the dynamics of investment in fixed assets of the region was established, which made it possible to justify and formulate measures of state influence on the corresponding functional directions of the regional socio-economic system.

Abstract

Abstract— As everyone knows, the developed countries of the world are quite actively using digital technologies in their supply chain system. Thanks to the rise of technology, supply chain is also becoming more visible. It has allowed for data transparency to expand and thus, affecting the way organizations have the ability to gain visibility on real-time issues about their supply chain networks. This  combination  has  made  it  possible  for  supply  chain  to  become  more  powerful  and accessible.  The  changes  in  demands  and  economy  along  with  the  rise  of  technology  has made all the difference. This expansion is driving change for faster results and flow, thus the rise of digitalization has become a major contributor of the supply chain market. Based on the available data, we can say that the main share of digital technologies in the developed world is used in the supply chain sector. However, over the past 10 years, digital technologies have also begun to be used in strategically important sectors of the economy, such as the production, processing and sale of products. Moreover, the level of digitalization of some technological supply chain processes reaches 80% or higher. In Russian practice, there are a number of legal acts that promote the development of digital technologies in the real sector of the economy. In addition, the directions and even measures of state support are outlined. This article describes the authors’ vision of the state of digitalization in the agro-industrial complex of Russia, the problems that exist, areas of improvement, risks and threats that authorities and commercial organizations will face when implementing digital technologies. Based on world practice, the study provides data indicating the positive role of digital technologies: increasing the profitability of production, saving costs, increasing production indicators. The study shows the main breakthrough technological platforms on which the development of digital technologies in agricultural production will be based.

Abstract

Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors and plays a vital role in economic development in most countries, including Malaysia. With an extraordinary growth of tourist arrival, it has given effect on the environment, social and economic structures. Of these, the primary purpose of the current study is to identify the perception of domestic tourists on the intensity of social carrying capacity at Pangkor Island, Perak, Malaysia. This quantitative study is designed using a survey questionnaire (self-administered) to 332 domestic tourists during four phases of public holidays as a tourist option to visit Pangkor Island. The results of this study indicated that the Social Carrying Capacity (SCC) assessment is based on tourists' response, crowding rate at a tourist spot/location and the satisfaction level of tourists while travelling to the area. The perception of domestic tourists is divided into three parts, namely; satisfaction with the facilities, quality of experience and acceptance from the locals. Also, using the People at One Time (PAOT) method, respondents were given five options and picture showing the tourist situation during their visit to Pulau Pangkor. From PAOT analysis, 37.5% tourists chose Picture C followed by picture D (31.2%), Picture B (11.8%), picture E (8.1%), Picture F (7.7 %) and picture A (3.7%). As a result, from these two methods, SCC in Pangkor Island is still acceptable for domestic tourists. This study provides significant information to stakeholders to make sure that SCC at Pangkor Island is within tourism activities control. Keywords—Social Carrying Capacity, Tourism Carrying Capacity, Intensity

Abstract

Gender diversity has been a growing concern of the Government of Malaysia particularly the low representation of women in the decision-making level. Diversity in leadership and openness to new perspectives is crucial for charting the course in business.  Companies that are diverse in its board are stronger, better positioned to tackle external and internal challenges and more focused on the bottom line. In Malaysia, in 2016, women represent only 17.9% at the decision-making level of the top 50 Public listed companies.  Women participation in the managerial positions has largely stagnated over the year. The figure of 17.9% is low compared to more developed countries such as Australia (36%) and the Philippines (48%) within the Asian region.  Malaysia is essentially a maritime country; about 90% of the international trade are transacted through the port.  Hence, the purpose of this study is aimed at determining whether gender diversity exist at management level and examining the perceptions of the management level towards women involvement in port management.   10 questionnaires on profiling of major port operators in Malaysia have been distributed.   90% responded.  The study results show that that level of women participation at the board of directors and the management level is relatively low. There is a relationship between level of women participation and the lack of agenda on gender diversity in the organisation.  The study is important as the nation target to be a high-income nation by 2020, the talent repository need to be taken in greater importance.
