Abstract

The airport is a logistics hub that handles several flows, including passengers flow. In fact, passengers are the common customer of all the actors of the airport chain. Thus, and considering growth of passenger air traffic, airport managers must find rational solutions with optimal use of available resources and infrastructures; hence the opportunity for a modeling study and an optimization of passenger circuits. This article took the initiative of presenting the passenger flow model with a holistic approach starting from airport access to the boarding gate and following, for the first time, a confirmed methodological framework which is the ASDI methodology (Analysis, Specification, Design and Implementation). This methodology relies on a system decomposition in three subsystems: SSP physic, SSL logic and SSD decision-making. Our study was conducted on Mohammed V International Airport of Casablanca, the first airport in Morocco, by building its generic model of knowledge of the flow of departing passengers; a model that can be reused and reproduced on other circuits, even other airports.

Abstract

This study is an attempt to estimate consumer surplus for alternative air quality improvement in Klang Valley, Malaysia, using a double-bounded dichotomous choice contingent valuation method (CVM) and choice experiment (CE). The number of sick days, air pollution index, medical expenditure, outdoor activities, ethnic, city, age, and respiratory symptoms were found to be significant variables that affect the willingness to pay (WTP) of the respondents. Respondents’ WTP is an average MYR 2.13 in CVM and the mean WTP for the new air quality management program derived from CE is MYR1.99 per liter. The consumer surplus derived from CVM and CE is 0.23 and 0.09 respectively. Results show that although the consumer surplus derived from CVM is slightly higher than that from CE but they are not significantly different. The results suggest that both double-bounded CVM and CE can be successfully implemented for environmental valuation in Klang Valley.

Abstract

Abstract- This study encompasses the supply chain model of distribution of the fishing industry.  A family is a place where interactions between individuals and the larger community happen. The first social interactions that children have are with their mother and other family members. This was a qualitative study using a case study approach to thoroughly understand the family-based culture of fishing families in Banten Province, Indonesia. The results of the study revealed that family-based childcare was liberal, and the children were allowed to choose their own activities. Childcare within a family whose mother worked abroad was undertaken by the father, and part of the economic needs were fulfilled by the mother. For families that had more fishing gear, some were able to give fishing equipment to their children, both married and unmarried, to help with their family's economic needs.

Abstract

The study analyzes the mediating impact of supply chain management (SCMG) on the relationship among service quality (SRQL), drinking water quality (DRQL), food quality (FDQL) and corporate performance (CRPR). The target respondents of this research work were employees of water and food supply corporations situated in Thailand. The focused participants for the survey were the main managing directors, executives, CEOs and other high-positioning officials responsible for supply network exercises in firms. 75 firms were casually selected for the collection of data. After the information assortment, only 137 affirmed review structures were settled for examination. Path analysis using PLS-SEM is conducted to analyze the impact. CRPR and SCMG are used as dependent and mediating variables, respectively. SRQL, DRQL and FDQL are used as independent variables. The results of the study show that SRQL, DRQL and FDQL have significant positive impact on CRPR and SCMG. SCMG also has positive impact on CRPR. Moreover, the study also finds that SCMG mediates the association between SRQL and CRPR. It signifies that SRQL and SCMG together cause 21.7% changes in CRPR. SCMG also fully mediates the positive link between DRQL and CRPR. It reports that DRQL and SCMG collectively cause to change in CRPR by 9.4%. Moreover, SCMG also fully mediates the linkage between FDQL and CRPR as both SCMG and FDQL cause 13.2% variation in CRPR. From the findings, the study summarizes that better SCMG rises the services, food and drinking water quality of services, water and food supply corporations of Thailand which ultimately improves the corporate performance.

Abstract

The main purpose of the current study is to examine the supply chain integration, and product modularity as antecedents of the market valuation. The study is carried out on the supply chain of the solar industry of Thailand. The reason why the solar industry is chosen is that the greater emphasis on rising oil prices, global regulatory environment, and climate change resulted in increased adoption of clean technology processes. Over the next few decades, the solar energy would be considered as an important technology stemming from fast-paced innovation and huge technological investment. Being an infant industry, the solar energy supply chain is evolving rapidly with the entrance of new as well as already established firms. The study has used the SEM-PLS to analyses the data gathered from the firms in the solar industry. The findings of the study argue that the aggregated product modularity affects the supply chain flexibility and supply chain’s ability of delivering product variety, across the supply chain. Such aggregated product modularity, being an important SC construct, shows the product modularity of supply chain as a whole.

Abstract

Companies are constantly striving to achieve a highest rate of competitiveness. Thus, they implement either Lean manufacturing or Six sigma approach or both. However, their successful implementation is a real challenge. Hence, one of the proven tools to take up this challenge is a set of critical success factors (CSFs). This study provides a comparative statement of the recommendations suggested by every CSF from the perspective of each approach and examines how far the CSFs determine the successful implementation of Lean manufacturing and Six sigma in the Moroccan aeronautics industry. Also, based on a qualitative research methodology it assesses the importance assigned to each CSFs for each approach. The results would provide aeronautics managers with indicators and guidelines for a successful simultaneous implementation of Lean principles and Six Sigma techniques.

Abstract

This paper presents an enriched variation of the original Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), in which traffic zones, CO2 emissions and heterogeneity of vehicles are all taken into consideration. The objective of the model is to minimize the total travelled distance, while assigning specific customers to specific type of vehicles and maintaining the emissions of the entire fleet under a specified limit. The proposed hybrid algorithm (TDHF-GVRP) is composed of two nested genetic algorithms, interacting with each other as well as with other local search optimization methods. The external genetic algorithm (parent) is responsible for the assignment of customers to vehicle types, whereas the internal (child) algorithm is responsible for solving the vehicle routing problem for each category of vehicles separately.
