Abstract

This article analyses some prophetic sayings (hadith) considered misogenic, by comparing commentaries of the medieval ulama and the contemporary Muslim feminists in Indonesia. The first hadith is about woman leadership. Based on this hadith, many traditional ulama do not allow woman to be the leader. However, some medieval ulama such as Jalaluddin al-Sayuthi, al-Tabari and Abu Hanifah, do allow woman to become a leader. In line with this view, Indonesian Muslim feminists argue that woman deserves to be a leader like man, and the hadith should be understood in its specific context, namely that it talks about Persian Imperium which was led by a woman, so that it cannot be generalized. Morever, the hadith is ahad, reported by one line of transmitters. The second hadith is about God?s condemnation on a wife who refuses her husband for sexual intercourse. The traditional medieval ulama and Indonesian Muslim feminists agree that this hadith is also applied to man, that is, if he refuses his wife. Finally, the hadith stating that woman is less intelligent, according to the traditional ulama, means not to humiliate her, but to be aware of her temptation.

Abstract

Nowadays, memorizing the Qur'an is growing and interested in children to adults, including college students. The activity is interesting because in the perspective of Islamic Shari'ah, memorizing the Qur'an is not an obligation. Therefore, in psychological science, it will be useful to find any factors that encourage students to do so. An initial survey found that students had belief associated with the spiritual domain of divinity and felt calm when memorizing the Qur?an. Those factors will be studied in the concept of spiritual well-being by Ellison (1983). This quantitative study was conducted on students at Universitas Padjadjaran. There were 40 students selected with snowball sampling. The result showed that as many as 85% of students had high spiritual well-being. It showed that the majority of students have a harmonious and stable life indicated by the closeness with Allah SWT and life satisfaction.

This study wants to tell about a fact that there many people have less awareness with their duty as a child to their parents aged, moreover when they have a good position and have many activities with his jobs. Some children put their parents in an old folks? home because they cannot take after them well. Because of that, it needs to have responses of Ulama about this problem and it needs to get explanations about children?s ethics on their parents as well as teaching in Islam.

Abstract

Every human being will one day experience a tense period in the short term when facing known problems such as career pressures, family disputes or quarrels, material pressures, and personal despair, and we will think that this is depression, which is not is an important problem because it will resolve itself, but none of these fleeting conditions is depression. Good emotional intelligence can reduce aggression, especially in adolescents. Therefore, if emotions are managed successfully, the individual will be able to entertain themselves when overwritten by sadness, can release anxiety, moodiness or offense and rise quickly again from it all. This research is field research with a correlational approach, exploring the relationship between depression and emotional intelligence in married students. The results of the hypothesis test show that between emotional intelligence and depression in married students has a significant negative relationship (XY = -0.411; sig = 0.014 <0.05). This is in accordance with the data obtained from the SPSS 19 for Windows program, stating that r table 0.334 and r xy (r hit) -0.411, said to be significant if r xy = 0.411> r table = 0.334. In other words, the higher the emotional intelligence of students who are married, the lower the possibility of depression.
