Abstract

The use of technology in learning remains suboptimal, which affects students' low levels of critical thinking and metacognitive skills. This study aims to develop an integrated e-learning module, PBLRQA, to improve critical thinking and metacognitive skills. The method used is research and development, with the Research and Development (R&D) model and a 4D development model: defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The research subjects were 30 grade X students, and the research instruments included validation sheets, essay questions to measure critical thinking skills, and observation sheets to assess metacognitive skills. The analysis technique used quantitative and qualitative analysis. The validation results showed a feasibility level of 82.73 percent for the E-Module, in the very good category. The effectiveness test showed a significant increase, with a score of 0.81 for critical thinking skills and 0.85 for metacognitive skills, both in the high category. The conclusion of this study shows that the integrated e-module PBLRQA can significantly improve students' critical thinking and metacognitive skills. This research implies that it effectively improves students' critical thinking and metacognitive skills and supports more interactive, relevant biology learning in the digital era.

Abstract

The learning process is still less active, and students' interest in learning spatial figures is relatively low. One of the causes is the limited use of interesting learning media. This study aims to develop and test the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the Augmented Reality-based Zig Zag Book learning media named "BERUANG". This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 27 students. Data collection methods in this study were observation, questionnaires, interviews, and tests. The instruments used for data collection include material validation sheets, media validation sheets, pretests, posttests, instruments to measure media effectiveness, and response questionnaires from educators and students. Data analysis used qualitative, quantitative descriptive analysis, and inferential statistics (t-test and n-gain). The results showed that material validation reached 95%, while media validation obtained 87.5%. In terms of practicality, the student response questionnaire showed that the level of media practicality reached 97%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Zig Zag Book media based on Augmented Reality can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. The implications of the research are that the media developed is suitable for use as supporting media.

Abstract

Students’ difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts are largely caused by the suboptimal use of relevant learning media to visualize abstract material. This study aims to develop an interactive learning medium, BELBICAR (Belajar Bilangan Ribuan), based on HTML5 using Articulate Storyline 3 for third-grade elementary school students. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The effectiveness of the BELBICAR interactive media was analyzed using the normalized gain (n-gain) based on pre-test and post-test data collected from 28 third-grade students. The results showed that the average score of material validation reached 91.66%, categorized as very valid, while the average score of media validation was 93.75%, also categorized as very valid. In addition, the BELBICAR interactive media obtained practicality scores of 96.12% from teachers and 95.85% from students, both categorized as very practical. The media achieved an n-gain score of 75.83, which falls into the high category, indicating that the BELBICAR interactive media is highly effective. It can be concluded that the HTML5-based BELBICAR interactive media developed using Articulate Storyline 3 is capable of visualizing integer concepts in the thousands, thereby leading to high student learning outcomes. However, a limitation of the BELBICAR media lies in the restricted scope of its content, which is limited to the formulated learning objectives. Therefore, additional learning activities, such as student worksheets (LKPD), are recommended to maximize students’ understanding of integers in the thousands through the use of this media.

Abstract

Mathematics is considered a difficult subject, leading to boredom and a low understanding of basic mathematical concepts. Difficulty understanding the concepts of LCM and GCF, particularly when working on story problems, is a major obstacle experienced by students. This study aims to identify the development, effectiveness, and practicality of the KOMIKA (Mathematics Mission Box) media in improving understanding of the concepts of LCM and GCF in elementary schools. This study uses the method Research and Development (RnD) by adopting the ADDIE development model. The expert trial involved two parties: two material experts and two media experts. Meanwhile, the product trial involved 31 fifth-grade elementary school students as the main subjects. Data analysis techniques used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of the study showed indication that KOMIKA media has proven successful in strengthening conceptual understanding of KPK and FPB at elementary school level. Therefore, it is concluded that the KOMIKA (Mathematics Mission Box) media is valid, effective, and practical to use. The implication of this research is that the development of KOMIKA media as an innovation in learning activities will facilitate students in building and improving their conceptual understanding.

Abstract

The gap between the ideal objectives of mathematics learning and classroom realities is reflected in students’ low self-efficacy, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving abilities. One contributing factor is the continued reliance on conventional instructional models. This study aims to examine the effect of the Discovery Learning model on students’ self-efficacy, conceptual understanding, and mathematical problem-solving skills. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design, involving 40 eighth-grade students divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using questionnaires and achievement tests, which were analyzed through linear regression, t-tests, and N-Gain analysis. The results indicate that the Discovery Learning model has a significant effect on all three variables, with N-Gain scores exceeding 80%, indicating a high level of improvement. The study concludes that Discovery Learning is effective in enhancing overall mathematics learning outcomes. The implications of this study suggest that Discovery Learning can be integrated as an active, student-centered instructional strategy to improve the quality of mathematics learning. Furthermore, the findings provide a valuable foundation for teachers and educational policymakers in designing learning environments that sustainably foster students’ cognitive competencies, affective development, and mathematical problem-solving skills.

Abstract

Conceptual understanding in spatial and empirical disciplines such as zoogeography remains a challenge in conventional learning environments that offer limited direct engagement with real-world contexts. This study aimed to examine the effect of the One-Day Outdoor Learning model on improving students’ knowledge of zoogeography. Employing a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design, the study involved 146 students from the Social Studies Education program. Data were collected through objective tests administered before and after the learning intervention and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test. The results demonstrated that outdoor learning activities significantly enhanced students’ cognitive engagement, collaborative exploration, and conceptual understanding of zoogeographical patterns. Posttest scores showed consistent improvement across all indicators, confirming a significant effect of the outdoor learning approach on students’ knowledge achievement. These findings highlight the importance of integrating contextual and experiential learning approaches in geography education. The study concludes that field-based learning strategies are effective in deepening conceptual understanding and increasing learning motivation, while also contributing to the development of innovative pedagogical models in higher education.

Abstract

Digital tools such as Kahoot! are widely recognized as effective means of increasing students’ engagement in learning activities. However, their use is often limited to enhancing classroom enjoyment rather than being evaluated for their pedagogical impact. This study aims to evaluate the effect of Kahoot! as a digital learning tool on students’ motivation and learning outcomes in Music Education. This research employed a pre-experimental design involving 29 fifth-grade students. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical methods with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The main findings indicate a statistically significant relationship between the use of Kahoot! and students’ learning motivation. The integration of Kahoot! in the classroom increased students’ interest and enthusiasm, creating a more enjoyable learning environment and encouraging active participation. The platform also functioned as an engaging, competitive, and collaborative learning medium. The study concludes that the use of Kahoot! has a positive effect on both students’ motivation and learning outcomes in Music Education. This research contributes to educational practice and academic development by demonstrating that game-based digital tools can effectively support learning in arts education. The implications of this study suggest that integrating interactive technology into instruction can serve as an effective strategy to enhance students’ motivation and academic achievement.

Abstract

This study examines changes in Sociology teaching methods through the integration of smartboard technology and explores teachers’ and students’ perceptions of the use of digital media in the learning process. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design grounded in symbolic interactionism theory. Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews involving three teachers and twelve senior high school students who had implemented smartboards in Sociology instruction. The findings reveal that the use of smartboards enhances student participation, facilitates the understanding of abstract sociological concepts, and fosters a more interactive learning environment. Teachers reported that this digital medium enriches instructional strategies and supports the linkage between sociological theories and relevant social dynamics. Identified challenges include limited technological infrastructure, technical disruptions, and insufficient teacher training. The study concludes that digital transformation in learning not only improves the quality of the instructional process but also reshapes relational patterns among teachers, students, and learning materials. Recommendations emphasize the need for equitable access to technological facilities, strengthened professional development for teachers, and the systematic integration of interactive media into the development of the Sociology curriculum.

Abstract

Teachers are often faced with various situations and challenges that can affect their professional ethics. By implementing strong ethics, teachers not only teach but also educate the younger generation to be intellectually and morally mature. Therefore, schools require a climate and paradigm that supports the maintenance of ethical values and behavior in their teachers, which can be realized through spiritual leaders. This study aims to examine the influence of spiritual leadership on teachers' professional ethics and investigate mediation through affective commitment and workplace spirituality. This study applied a quantitative approach and was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 220 school teachers. Data analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM analysis. The result of the study indicate that teachers' professional ethics can be pursued by leaders by fulfilling teachers' needs for good spirituality through participation and membership to create a vision and values that guide teachers in maintaining their professional ethical behavior. In addition, the mechanism of this relationship is realized in schools through increasing affective commitment and workplace spirituality. The implication of the result of this study is that school leaders can use spiritual leadership to develop teachers in improving professional ethics.

Abstract

The government has regulated inclusive education across all sectors, including higher education. However, a significant gap between policy and practice persists. This study aims to examine the current state of inclusive education in higher education institutions in Pontianak City, analyze institutional challenges, identify student-related barriers, and explore stakeholders’ perceptions of policy implementation. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating policy analysis, structured interviews, and surveys. Data were collected through document analysis instruments, interviews, and survey questionnaires. The research sample was selected purposively and involved five private higher education institutions, with respondents consisting of lecturers and students, including universities that have received Assistive Technology support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Qualitative data were analyzed using micro-interlocutor analysis and thematic analysis, while quantitative data were processed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings indicate that several private universities in Pontianak continue to face limitations in infrastructure, insufficient training for lecturers and staff, and a lack of inclusive teaching and learning materials. These results suggest that inclusive education in higher education requires more than policy formulation alone; it demands a stronger institutional framework to ensure effective implementation. The implications of this study highlight the need for more robust frameworks, relevant professional development, and accessible facilities to bridge the gap between inclusive education policies and their practical implementation in higher education institutions.
