Abstract

Fishing Gear is equipment used by fishermen to catch fish and other marine animals. The operation of the fishing gear itself is not always alone, some fishermen use fishing aids to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of fishing activities. Some types of Fishing aids commonly used by fishermen are lamps and fish aggregating devices (FADs) used to collect fish and power blocks/axles, or line haulers used by fishermen to facilitate the operation of the fishing gear. This study aims to find out what fishing gear and fishing aids are in Kendari and analyze their compliance with existing regulations. The research activities were carried out for 2 months, namely from November to December 2023 at the Kendari Fisheries Port. The type of data collected is qualitative data including construction data from each API in Kendari through direct observation. The data collected is then analyzed descriptively. Based on the data obtained, the types of Fishing Gear used by vessels based at the Kendari PPS are 5 (five) fishing gears, consisting of Tuna Hand Line, Huhate, Purse Seine, Hand Line, Squid Fishing. This fishing gear is an active fishing gear. Fishing aids used by fishermen at PPS Kendari include LED lights, Pakurung and fish aggregating devices. Abstract

The maritime sector plays a pivotal role in supporting economic growth, serving both as a critical source of employment and a driver of national development. This study is motivated by the lack of comprehensive, systematic mapping of the global scholarly landscape on maritime economics. The research aims to identify prevailing trends, key contributors, and dominant themes in maritime economic literature published between 2010 and 2023. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using data retrieved from the Scopus database, filtered by the keywords “maritime” and “economy.” A total of 2,712 documents were analyzed using VOSviewer to construct and visualize co-occurrence networks of keywords, authorship patterns, institutional affiliations, and country-level collaborations. The results indicate an average annual publication growth rate of 19%, with Marine Policy identified as the most prolific journal and Dalian Maritime University as the leading institution in terms of scholarly output. Core research themes include “maritime transportation” and “ship” operations, while environmentally critical topics such as marine pollution and sustainability remain underrepresented. The findings highlight the need for broader interdisciplinary exploration, particularly in integrating environmental concerns within maritime economic discourse. This study provides a robust foundation for guiding future research agendas and policy development in advancing a more sustainable and inclusive maritime economy.

Abstract

The implementation of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure (SSOP) is very important to ensure product quality and safety in the food processing industry. In this paper, the implementation of both procedures is discussed during a research at PT Putri Indah Belawan, a company engaged in the freezing of ribbon fish. The main objective of this activity is to implement GMP and SSOP in the freezing process of ribbon fish at PT Putri Indah Belawan. Data collection was carried out through direct observation at every stage of the production process, from receiving raw materials to packaging. The results of the observation showed that most of the GMP and SSOP procedures had been implemented well. However, there were still several areas that still needed improvement, such as stricter cleanliness monitoring and more systematic quality control recording as well as uneven employee training, which was caused by the rotation of new employees every week. Overall, the implementation of GMP and SSOP at PT Putri Indah Belawan was quite good, but need  improvement so that product quality could be more optimal.

Abstract

Management of spatial marine in Indonesia faces serious challenges due to increasing intensity of utilization, overlapping functions between sectors, and weak supervision and compliance with coastal zoning. These conditions often trigger conflicts between coastal communities, business actors, and the government, and cause degradation of marine ecosystems. This study aims to develop a marine space audit model as an instrument for early detection of conflicts, zoning violations, and socio-ecological non-conformities. The methods used are literature studies and expert judgment approaches based on direct involvement in resolving environmental disputes in coastal areas. The resulting audit model consists of three main components: (1) Conflict and Risk Zones (weighting 0.40), (2) Legality and Compliance (weighting 0.35), and (3) Social-Ecological System Suitability (weighting 0.25). Each component consists of several indicators and sub-indicators that are assessed using a five-level risk scale: Very High, High, Medium, Low, and Very Low. The total audit score is calculated by averaging the sub-indicator scores and weighting between components. The results of the study indicate that this model can help identify potential conflicts and violations early on and provide an argumentative basis for more responsive and equitable policy interventions. Marine space audits also open opportunities for participatory and adaptive monitoring in coastal area management. The main recommendations of this study include integrating audits into zoning policies, strengthening institutional capacity, and developing a digital system for indicator-based monitoring.

Abstract

Oceanographic data such as Sea Surface Temperature (SST), Sea Surface Salinity (SSS), and Sea Surface Height (SSH) have a significant role in understanding ocean related studies, such as fisheries and ocean biology. This study analyzed the accuracy of Marine Copernicus datasets by comparing with data from buoy RAMA in the Indian Ocean. The results show a strong correlation for SST (r=0.988, R2=0.976, bias -0.020, RMSE 0.110) and SSS (r=0.960, R2=0.921, bias -0.001, RMSE 0.119). For SSH, after correction also has strong correlation with lower bias (r=0.934, R2=0.872, bias -0.000, RSME 0.032). The seasonal trend analysis shows SST peaks in April-May and declines to its lowest in September, while salinity increases from April to July-August before decreasing. SSH has a rising trend from January to June and declines afterward. These findings suggest that Marine Copernicus data provide reliable SST, SSS, and SSH estimates.
