Abstract

This study addresses ergonomic and productivity challenges in Indonesia's ornamental ceramic MSMEs. Artisans often rely on traditional tools, resulting in high musculoskeletal risks and inefficient production. Using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) and REBA, this study identified a "very high risk" posture (REBA score of 13). Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was then employed to design an ergonomic hydraulic press based on worker anthropometry, featuring a table height of 104.7 cm and a machine height of 130.75 cm. The results demonstrate a significant reduction in production cycle time, as the dual-mold hydraulic system allows for the simultaneous pressing of two faces, effectively replacing time-consuming manual processes. Furthermore, the design minimizes non-value-added work elements by eliminating the need for gradual manual clay filling. This transition from a crouching to a neutral standing posture not only ensures artisan safety by lowering physical strain but also significantly increases output capacity. This study proves that integrating ergonomic specifications with mechanization is a vital catalyst for increasing operational efficiency and business sustainability in small-scale industries.

Abstract

The increasing elderly population has led to a higher prevalence of mobility limitations associated with reduced muscle strength, musculoskeletal disorders, and postural instability. Conventional walkers often fail to accommodate anthropometric variations and shock absorption needs, resulting in non-neutral postures and elevated ergonomic risk. This study developed an ergonomics-based adaptive walker integrating an adjustable handle mechanism and spring-based shock absorption. A pre- and post-intervention experimental approach involving five elderly participants was conducted using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method. Initial RULA scores ranged from 5 to 7, indicating high to very high-risk levels. After using the adaptive walker, the scores decreased to 2–5, representing a 44.83% reduction in the average risk level. Improvements were observed in neck, trunk, and wrist posture, indicating enhanced ergonomic alignment and walking stability.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the supply chain performance at PT Nectars Natura Karya, an organic skincare manufacturer, using the Green Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model approach combined with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method for determining the weight of key performance indicators (KPI). A total of 15 KPIs were used in the measurement, covering general operational aspects and environmental sustainability. The evaluation was conducted by calculating the actual value, normalization, and combining the AHP weights to obtain the final score of each indicator. The measurement results show that the final value of the company's supply chain performance is 42.59 from a maximum score of 77.77, with an actual achievement rate of approximately 54.76%. Based on the classification of the Snorm de Boer method, this value is included in the category of average performance, which shows that the company has sufficient performance; however, there is still room for improvement. The largest contribution came from general operational KPIs (91.69 %), while KPIs classified as green supply chains only accounted for 8.36% of the total score. The results of the assessment using the traffic light system (TLS) method show that there are seven KPIs that are still in the red category and need immediate improvement, and four KPIs are in the yellow category that are close to the target but still need periodic monitoring. The managerial implications of these results emphasize the importance of strengthening environmental aspects in the supply chain, including waste measurement, improved employee training, and compliance with sustainability standards by suppliers.

Abstract

Surabaya is the second-largest city in Indonesia. Like other major cities, Surabaya faces waste problems. The amount of waste produced by Surabaya residents has increased annually. This is partly due to the growing population. Currently, municipal waste management is still centralized in the Benowo Landfill. Owing to the increasing amount of waste and limited land available at the Benowo Landfill, a new landfill is needed. The selection of a landfill site is a complex problem because the selection criteria are multiple and conflicting with one another. The method used in this study is an integration of the PROMETHEE and AHP methods. The two MCDM methods were used to complement each other, and the weaknesses of one method were corrected by utilizing the strengths of the other, resulting in a better solution. This study aims to determine the location of a new landfill in Surabaya using the integration of the PROMETHEE and AHP methods. Based on the data processing that has been done, it is known that the new landfill location is in the Rungkut District.
