Abstract

Internet use that does not pay attention to digital ethics can lead to an increase in negative online behaviors such as cyberbullying among students. Cyberbullying behavior as a negative online behavior has a very serious impact not only on individual psychology but also learning outcomes so that it requires strategies and programs that can be used to prevent and reduce these impacts. Digital Citizenship is a concept of positive behavior when using the internet that contains ethics, responsibility, and utilizing the internet appropriately. In addition to digital citizenship behavior, learning outcomes also play a role in reducing negative online cyberbullying behavior. This study aims to examine the role of digital citizenship behavior on negative online cyberbullying behavior with learning outcomes as a mediator. In this study using a quantitative approach, surveys were distributed to 353 participants consisting of grade 1 to 3 junior high school students aged 11 to 16 years with male and female gender at two public junior high schools in Bali. The results showed that there was a role of digital citizenship toward cyberbullying, but learning outcomes did not mediate the relationship between digital citizenship and cyberbullying.

Abstract

Self-confidence is an essential component of an individual's psychological well-being, shaped by various factors, including gender. While differences in self-confidence exist, both men and women seek positive self-understanding to navigate life's challenges. Recognizing these differences is crucial for supporting the development of healthy and positive self-confidence. This study investigates the self-confidence levels of male and female students and compares their confidence in entering the workforce. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive approach, the study found that, on average, women exhibited higher levels of self-confidence than men. However, the comparison of self-confidence regarding entry into the workforce revealed no significant gender differences. These findings suggest that the educational environment fosters equal conditions, preparing students to face career challenges irrespective of gender. This research emphasizes the importance of an inclusive and equitable educational approach, where the development of relevant skills and competencies for the workforce is prioritized alongside the enhancement of self-confidence, a vital factor in achieving professional success. The implications of this study contribute to career counseling services in higher education, highlighting the need to focus on gender-neutral strategies that build students' self-confidence and equip them for future professional roles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between mindfulness, childhood trauma, and suicide, specifically focusing on the mediating role of cognitive bias. Suicide is a pressing issue that poses a significant threat to public health in society, and understanding the factors that contribute to it is crucial. The research design employed in this study is a correlation-based structural equation model. A total of 370 students from the second level of secondary school in Iran city were selected as participants using an available sampling method during the academic year of 2023. To gather data, several questionnaires were utilized, including the Kentucky Mindfulness Questionnaire, Bernstein et al.'s Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (1994), Hammachi and Ozturk's Cognitive Bias Questionnaire (2004), and the Multi-attitude Suicidal Tendency Questionnaire (MAST). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS-23 and Amos software, encompassing both descriptive and inferential levels. The findings of this research revealed several significant relationships. Firstly, there is a positive and significant direct path from childhood trauma to cognitive bias. Secondly, mindfulness has a negative and significant direct path to cognitive bias. Thirdly, childhood trauma has a direct and significant path to suicide. Additionally, cognitive bias has a positive and significant path to suicidality, while mindfulness has a negative and significant path to suicide. Moreover, there are positive and significant indirect paths from suicide to childhood trauma and negative and significant indirect paths from suicide to mindfulness. In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of mindfulness and cognitive bias as variables related to adolescent suicide. Adolescents who have experienced childhood trauma are more likely to consider suicide as a solution when faced with life problems. These findings emphasize the need for interventions and support systems that address mindfulness, cognitive bias, and childhood trauma to prevent and mitigate the risk of suicide among adolescents.

Abstract

Adolescence is a phase marked by stress, emotional instability, and low self-esteem, often leading to self-criticism and social withdrawal. To cope with these challenges, adolescents need self-compassion to maintain self-kindness and achieve better psychological well-being. This study aims to measure adolescent self-compassion using the Self-Compassion Scale for Youth (SCSY), a 17-item scale developed to suit the competencies of adolescents, as the original Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) is less applicable for this age group. A quantitative survey design was employed, with data from 105 high school students (aged 16-17, predominantly Sundanese, residing in rural areas) analyzed using JASP and Winstep for Rasch Model measurement. Results indicated that the SCSY demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability, confirming its suitability for adolescent self-compassion measurement. Findings underscore the importance of self-compassion in fostering emotional stability and resilience, suggesting that school-based guidance and counseling could benefit from incorporating self-compassion training to enhance mental health support for adolescents. The SCSY's tailored approach facilitates early detection of self-compassion levels, enabling counselors to provide targeted interventions that align with adolescents' developmental needs.

Abstract

Dyslexia is a disorder in the left brain's nervous system, which is crucial for identifying strephosymbolia to process meaning that will be used for reading, writing, and communication. Although dyslexia is a disorder that hinders normal learning processes, various interventions can be done to address the disorder. The purpose of this research is to provide a comprehensive understanding to researchers, prospective researchers, parents, and experts about the methods, measures, subjects, and approaches used by previous researchers related to interventions that can be given to dyslexic children. The focus of this research is on significant improvement and intelligent adaptation for future research design. This article adopts a qualitative approach with the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research method. A literature review serves as the initial foundation to assist further research in the future to find information related to the topic to be studied and to avoid errors and benefit from their experience. The database used in the literature search is Harzing's Publish or Perish with online database sources from Google Scholar and Scopus. The search was done using several keywords in Indonesian and English separately, including 1) "Disleksia and Intervensi," and 2) "Dyslexia and Intervention." The search yielded 140 articles. After selection, coding, extraction, and analysis, only 13 articles met the criteria for analysis using the SLR method. All articles discussing this issue have a positive impact on addressing the disorders experienced by people with dyslexia. Proper management and continuous treatment processes are key to successfully implementing interventions. The findings imply that successful dyslexia interventions require a tailored approach that considers each child's unique needs and response to treatment. Furthermore, this study highlights the need for ongoing support and adaptive strategies to ensure the long-term effectiveness of these interventions, thereby enabling children with dyslexia to achieve improved literacy and communication skills over time.

Abstract

The bystander effect is a social phenomenon in which an individual's likelihood of helping others in an emergency decreases. Barriers preventing bystanders from intervening include anxiety about taking inappropriate actions and fear of becoming the next victim. This study aims to describe the level of anxiety among students in bullying situations and to examine the relationship between anxiety and the bystander effect in such contexts. A quantitative correlational research design was employed to explore the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The study involved 154 high school students aged 16 to 18 years. Data were collected using researcher-developed anxiety and bystander effect scales, and analyzed using Pearson correlation. The findings indicate a significant positive relationship between anxiety and the bystander effect among students in bullying situations, meaning that higher anxiety levels are associated with a stronger bystander effect. These results suggest that school counseling services should prioritize interventions that address student anxiety and promote proactive bystander behaviors. Implementing programs focused on anxiety management and safe intervention strategies can play a vital role in reducing the incidence of passive bystander behavior in bullying cases.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy integrated with Islamic values (REBT-NIS) in reducing trauma symptoms in children who have experienced sexual abuse in Aceh. This approach combines REBT techniques with Islamic values such as ridha (contentment), patience, and ikhlas (sincerity), which are expected to help children develop more rational and positive thinking in overcoming their trauma. The study used a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments to measure trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress symptoms in the children involved. The results showed a 50% reduction in trauma symptoms after the implementation of REBT-NIS, with significant improvements in all trauma dimensions measured using the Child PTSD Symptom Scale (CPSS) and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS). These findings indicate that the REBT-NIS approach, which integrates Islamic values, is effective in supporting trauma recovery in sexually abused children, particularly in Aceh. This approach contributes to trauma therapy theory and practice by demonstrating the importance of integrating religious values into evidence-based psychological therapy.

Abstract

The increasing behavior of students who violate morals can reflect the increasing tendency of students' moral disengagement. Sociodrama is believed to be an effective technique in preventing moral disengagement tendencies in students. This research aims to prove the effectiveness of sociodrama techniques in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in students. This research design uses a one group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was 25 students from class XI-2 of Kepanjen Islamic High School, obtained through purposive sampling. The instrument used to collect data is the moral disengagement scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test show that sociodrama techniques are effective in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in students. The novelty in this research lies in the classical guidance service with sociodrama techniques which functions as a preventive service that focuses on students with a moderate level of moral disengagement. Meanwhile, previous research used different techniques and functioned as a curative service that focused on students with a high level of moral disengagement. This research concludes that sociodrama techniques are effective in preventing the tendency of moral disengagement in high school students. The implications of these findings show the importance of applying sociodrama techniques in guidance and counseling programs in schools.
