Abstract

Internet use that does not pay attention to digital ethics can lead to an increase in negative online behaviors such as cyberbullying among students. Cyberbullying behavior as a negative online behavior has a very serious impact not only on individual psychology but also learning outcomes so that it requires strategies and programs that can be used to prevent and reduce these impacts. Digital Citizenship is a concept of positive behavior when using the internet that contains ethics, responsibility, and utilizing the internet appropriately. In addition to digital citizenship behavior, learning outcomes also play a role in reducing negative online cyberbullying behavior. This study aims to examine the role of digital citizenship behavior on negative online cyberbullying behavior with learning outcomes as a mediator. In this study using a quantitative approach, surveys were distributed to 353 participants consisting of grade 1 to 3 junior high school students aged 11 to 16 years with male and female gender at two public junior high schools in Bali. The results showed that there was a role of digital citizenship toward cyberbullying, but learning outcomes did not mediate the relationship between digital citizenship and cyberbullying.

Abstract

Emotional regulation plays a vital role in supporting psychological well-being and academic success, particularly within Islamic educational environments. This study aims to examine the emotional dynamics of students in the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Program and to identify their implications for the development of culturally responsive counseling services. A descriptive quantitative approach was utilized, employing the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) to measure levels of Positive Affect (PA) and Negative Affect (NA) among students selected through purposive sampling over a three week period. The findings revealed that students consistently reported higher positive emotions, such as pride and enthusiasm, compared to negative emotions, such as worry and anger. Female students exhibited greater emotional variability than male students, with a higher tendency to experience both elevated positive affect and fluctuations in negative affect. These results emphasize the necessity of integrating Islamic values such as tawakkal (trust in God), patience, and gratitude into counseling interventions to enhance emotional resilience. The study recommends the adoption of data-driven emotional assessments to develop adaptive, gender-sensitive, and evidence-based counseling programs that foster holistic student development in Islamic educational settings.

Abstract

The meaning of life among adolescents from broken-home families has received limited attention, especially those living with their grandparents, which presents unique challenges and opportunities for personal growth. This study explores the meaning of life among adolescents from broken-home families living with their grandparents. Through a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, the research investigates the experiences of adolescents in finding meaning in their lives. Data was collected through in-depth interviews and observations in OKU Timur and Bandar Lampung. The study involved early and late adolescents aged 12-21 years who live with their grandparents due to parental divorce or absence. The research identified several factors influencing the meaning of life, including personal understanding, positive actions, relationship building, tri-value experiences, and religiosity. The findings reveal that adolescents develop various strategies to find meaning such as (1) building resilience, (2) adapting to change, (3) a sense of responsibility, (4) seeking social support, (5) strengthening spirituality, and (6) independence. They view life as a learning process, a struggle for independence, and an opportunity to make their grandparents happy. Despite facing challenges, they strive to maintain a positive attitude and focus on what they can control. Religiosity and religious beliefs are their primary source of strength. This study highlights the importance of emotional and spiritual support in helping adolescents overcome life's difficulties and build a positive, meaningful life.

Abstract

The dynamics of adolescent today were considered not to have reached the stage of formal operational cognitive development where adolescent should have been able to analyze problem solving and be able to find alternative solution to their problem, this dynamic is suspected because adolescent have an inability to deal with problem/difficulty, which cause them not to be tough enough and experience mental health issue. This research provides novelty as it analyze how the father's role in the building adolescent adversity quotient, where attachment is usually identified with maternal attachment. This study aims to investigating paternal attachment on building adolescent’s adversity quotient. This study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory method, as many as 398 high school student in Bogor City were sampled used random sampling, 398 respondent from 4 different high school were taken as sample (2 SMAN and 2 SMAS). Instrument used in this study are translated instrument into bahasa, 1) IPPA-R which has been revised by Gullone and Robinson (2005) with 28 item question and Cronbach's alpha of 0.882; 2) Adversity Quotient which has been adapted by Wang et al. (2022) with 24 item question and Cronbach's alpha of 0.682. The data obtained went through statistical testing used SPSS to obtain correlation, regression and comparison. The result revealed that adolescent characteristic, family characteristic and paternal attachment simultaneously have a significant effect of 8.0 percent on adversity quotient. This research can serve as a base for the development of paternal attachment and adolescent adversity improvement program in the community (family, school and government).

Abstract

The role of parenting in shaping adolescents' psychological and behavioral development has long been recognized, but its impact in the context of the digital age remains underexplored. This study aims to analyze the influence of father parenting styles on adolescents' life goals (youth purpose), with self-control and fear of missing out (FOMO) as mediating variables. With a cross-sectional explanatory design, the research involved 1,144 adolescents aged 15 to 18 years in the Greater Jakarta area. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The findings demonstrate that authoritative fathering positively and significantly predicts youth purpose, both directly and indirectly, by enhancing self-control and reducing FOMO. In contrast, permissive parenting utilize a negative influence on self-control and, consequently, on youth purpose. Authoritarian parenting was found to increase FOMO, which in turn indicates a complex dual effect, both supporting and impairing the development of youth purpose depending on its interaction with self-control. These results underscore the critical role of father parenting style in shaping adolescents’ psychological regulation and goal-setting behavior. The study contributes to existing theoretical frameworks by linking parenting approaches to adolescent developmental outcomes in digital and culturally specific contexts. Practical implications include promoting authoritative parenting and designing interventions to strengthen adolescents’ self-regulation.

Abstract

Pregnancy can present significant risks, particularly during the childbirth process, which often induces fear and anxiety in pregnant women. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of group counseling using the Positive Self-Talk technique in reducing anxiety among pregnant women. A true experimental pretest-posttest control group design was employed, with 20 participants divided into two groups: 10 pregnant women in the experimental group and 10 in the control group. Anxiety data were collected using the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS), adapted to measure anxiety in pregnant women. Pre-test and post-test results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test via SPSS 20. The findings revealed a significant reduction in anxiety within the experimental group (Asymp. Sig. = 0.037), with the average anxiety score decreasing from 84.5 at pre-test to 50.8 at post-test, while the control group exhibited an increase in the average anxiety score from 85.7 to 91.4 (Asymp. Sig. = 0.0628). These results suggest that group counseling with the Positive Self-Talk technique is effective in reducing anxiety among pregnant women. This study provides valuable insights into psychological interventions aimed at alleviating anxiety in pregnant women, particularly in preparation for childbirth.

Abstract

Phubbing has become an increasingly widespread phenomenon among university students, driven by growing smartphone dependence in daily academic and social activities. Defined as the act of prioritizing smartphone use over face-to-face interaction, phubbing is associated with adverse outcomes, including impaired concentration, weakened social bonds, and diminished academic performance. However, existing instruments such as the Chotpitayasunondh & Douglas scale show limitations in item validity-specifically items 5, 7, and 14 and lack contextual relevance for the Indonesian higher education population. Addressing this gap, the present study aimed to develop and validate a culturally contextualized phubbing scale tailored to Indonesian university students. Employing a Design-Based Research (DBR) methodology based on Reeves’ generic model, the study progressed through three iterative phases: analysis and exploration, design and construction, and evaluation and reflection. A total of 384 students from diverse Indonesian universities participated, selected via convenience sampling. The resulting instrument comprises 40 items spanning four core dimensions nomophobia, interpersonal conflict, self-isolation, and problem acknowledgment. All items demonstrated acceptable item-total correlations (>0.30), and the scale achieved high internal consistency (Cronbach’s= 0.863). The validated scale offers a robust, context-sensitive tool for assessing phubbing behavior in Indonesian university settings and provides practical utility for educational counselors in designing targeted interventions to mitigate the psychological and academic risks associated with excessive smartphone use.

Abstract

Instruments for assessing social skills in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) remain scarce in Indonesia, underscoring the critical need for culturally valid tools. This study aims to adapt and validate the Autism Social Skills Profile (ASSP) for use in the Indonesian context through a rigorous cross-cultural methodology. The adaptation process followed the International Test Commission (ITC) guidelines, including forward–backward translation, expert content validation, cognitive debriefing, and psychometric testing. A total of 35 parents of children aged 6–17 years with professionally diagnosed ASD participated in the study. The results demonstrated excellent content validity (Aiken’s V = 0.89–0.92), high internal consistency (Cronbach’s = 0.939), and strong model fit for a refined three-factor structure after removing six items with low discriminatory power (RMSEA = 0.042; CFI = 0.965; TLI = 0.951). The Indonesian version of the ASSP provides theoretical contributions by expanding cross-cultural validation research in ASD assessment and offers practical benefits as a standardized instrument for evaluating social skills and guiding intervention planning in clinical, educational, and community-based settings. These findings support the use of the ASSP as a reliable and culturally relevant tool for improving outcomes in Indonesian children with ASD.

Abstract

Female students in Islamic boarding schools often experience dual role demands, as they are required to balance intensive organizational responsibilities with sustained academic performance. This study investigates the role of self-adjustment as a psychological factor influencing organizational responsibility and academic achievement among adolescent female students. Employing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 39 female student leaders (santriwati) serving as administrators of the Student Organization of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 8, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Self-Adjustment Scale, the Organizational Responsibility Scale, and documented academic achievement scores from report cards. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to examine the predictive relationships among variables. The findings reveal that self-adjustment significantly predicts organizational responsibility (r = 0.426, p < 0.05), indicating that higher adaptive capacity is associated with stronger organizational engagement and responsibility. However, self-adjustment does not significantly predict academic achievement (r = 0.119, p > 0.05), suggesting that academic performance is more strongly influenced by other factors, such as learning motivation and study strategies. These results highlight the differential role of self-adjustment in managing dual role demands within Islamic boarding school contexts. The study underscores the importance of strengthening adaptive skills through counseling, coaching, and mentoring programs to support female students’ effectiveness in organizational roles without compromising their academic development.

Abstract

The phenomenon of the BANI era (Brittle, Anxiety-Inducing, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible), characterized by uncertainty, psychological pressure, and social disruption, demands therapeutic approaches that foster peaceful thinking and awareness, emotional regulation, and inner balance. This study aims to identify the developmental trends of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) over the past 15 years in cultivating a peaceful mindset in individuals and to examine the techniques used within CBT interventions to achieve this goal. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method following the PRISMA stages, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion processes. From 1,197 articles identified through the Scopus and Google Scholar databases, 11 final articles published between 2010 and 2025 met the inclusion criteria. The findings reveal that CBT has evolved from a conventional clinical approach into more diverse forms, encompassing trauma healing, empowerment-based CBT, social-humanistic, integrative (such as MBCT and ACT), community-based CBT, social-structural, existential, educational-curative, transcendental-spiritual, and AI-integrated digital approaches. Furthermore, the study identifies five main techniques that contribute most significantly to fostering a peaceful mindset: cognitive restructuring, cognitive reframing, mindfulness, relaxation training, and behavioral activation. These findings emphasize that CBT is not merely a clinical therapy but a transformative psychological strategy that cultivates both intrapersonal and interpersonal peace. Therefore, CBT holds strong potential to be developed as an integrative peace-based therapy relevant for enhancing mental well-being and individual resilience amid the complexities of the BANI era.
