Abstract

Self-efficacy refers to an individual's belief in their ability to organize and execute the actions necessary to achieve established goals. This concept significantly influences mental health, academic performance, and quality of life. Traditional yoga and meditation have been widely studied as effective complementary mind-body approaches to improving psychological well-being. This narrative review aims to synthesize recent scientific findings regarding the benefits of yoga practices and traditional blends on self-efficacy. A literature search was conducted through primary scientific data using keywords related to yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and self-efficacy. The review results indicate that yoga and meditation practices consistently contribute to increased self-efficacy, mediated through improved emotional regulation, mindfulness, perceived self-control, and mastery experiences. These findings confirm the potential of traditional yoga and meditation as relevant non-pharmacological interventions to support the strengthening of individual psychological capacities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the Cear Cumpe ritual in instilling moral values in Manggarai society, identify the gap between traditional values and social practices, and examine the relevance of the ritual as a medium for character education based on local culture. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The informants consisted of traditional leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, youth leaders, educators, parents, and village government representatives in Bea Ngencung Village, East Manggarai Regency. The findings reveal that the Cear Cumpe ritual contains moral values such as social solidarity, collective responsibility, togetherness, respect for ancestors, and mutual cooperation. These values are transmitted through active community participation in every stage of the ritual process. However, the study also found a gap between the moral values embedded in the ritual and the social behavior of the community, especially among younger generations who show declining participation and understanding of traditional customs due to modernization, technological development, and changing lifestyles. Nevertheless, the Cear Cumpe ritual remains relevant as a contextual medium for revitalizing character education because it provides direct value-learning experiences through socio-cultural practices within the community.

Abstract

The Pandan War (Mekare-Kare) tradition in Tenganan Pegringsingan Traditional Village, Bali, is one of the cultural heritages of Bali Aga that is rich in religious, symbolic, aesthetic, and social meanings. This study aims to describe the form and stages of the Pandan War tradition, analyze the symbolic meanings, and reveal its role in preserving the cultural identity of the Tenganan community. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the Pandan War is not merely a physical battle, but a sacred offering (yadnya) to the God Indra. The symbols used, such as thorny pandan leaves, gringsing cloth, selonding gamelan, and the megibung procession, contain spiritual messages about courage, sacrifice, solidarity, and harmony in life. From a social perspective, this ritual functions to strengthen community cohesion, become a means of traditional education through the Metruna ceremony, and reinforce the collective identity of the Bali Aga amid modernization. Thus, the Pandan War can be understood as a “cultural text” within the framework of Clifford Geertz's symbolic interactionism, which not only preserves the heritage of the ancestors but also strengthens the position of the Tenganan community in the dynamics of global culture.

Abstract

This study is a continuation of previous research that examined Buddhist teachings in the Aṅguttara Nikāya related to business ethics. The present study aims to analyze Buddhist values more broadly as a foundation for business ethics, focusing on Buddhist teachings without being limited to a single Nikāya. Although Buddhist teachings predominantly address liberation (nibbāna) and mental discipline, they also contain ethical principles that are relevant to economic and business activities, particularly in the context of achieving well-being without causing suffering. This research employs a literature review method with a qualitative approach and adopts a descriptive-analytical research design. The primary data source is the Tipiṭaka, supported by scholarly articles, books, and other relevant sources on business ethics. Data analysis was conducted through several stages: data collection, data reduction, thematic categorization of values, interpretation of meaning, and drawing conclusions. The findings indicate that business ethics from a Buddhist perspective emphasize honesty and the principle of not causing harm to oneself or others. They also stress awareness of limitations in profit-seeking and resource utilization, as well as the practice of right speech, right thought, and right action. Furthermore, Buddhist teachings encourage business actors to adopt a realistic attitude, focus on practical implementation, and view experiences of loss as opportunities for learning rather than regret. These values can serve as an ethical framework for developing sustainable business practices oriented toward collective well being.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and reveal the philosophical meaning contained in the Tedak Siten traditional ceremony, a Javanese tradition that symbolises an important process in children's lives. The preservation of this traditional culture is very important to maintain the cultural identity of the archipelago, which is rich in noble values. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach to explore the symbolic meanings and philosophical values implied in each stage of the Tedak Siten ceremony. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with tradition practitioners and traditional leaders, as well as direct observations of the ceremony's implementation in several regions in Central Java and Yogyakarta. The research findings reveal that Tedak Siten is not merely a rite of passage in a child's development but is also imbued with values of community, spirituality, and moral teachings passed down through generations. This ceremony teaches the importance of individual readiness in facing life with the support of the community and the blessing of the universe. Through the preservation of the Tedak Siten tradition, the cultural values of the Nusantara remain alive and relevant for future generations. From a scientific paradigm perspective, this research emphasises the study of cultural philosophy. Through an ethnographic approach, this research reveals the philosophical meanings inherent in the symbols and rituals of the ceremony, rather than merely reconstructing its historical aspects. Thus, the main focus of this research is the exploration of the philosophical values contained in traditional cultural practices.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work-family conflict, job stress, and job satisfaction on the performance of Hindu female employees at Tabanan University. The study used a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The sample population and the study consisted of 52 Hindu female employees, with data collection techniques using a Likert scale questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted through descriptive tests, classical hypothesis testing, and multiple linear regression analysis to examine the partial and simultaneous effects between variables. The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that partially, work-family conflict and job stress have a negative and significant effect on the performance of Hindu female employees, while job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on performance. Simultaneously, work-family conflict, job stress, and job satisfaction have a significant effect on the performance of Hindu female employees at Tabanan University. These findings confirm that managing work-family conflict and job stress and increasing job satisfaction are important factors in improving the performance of female employees.

Abstract

This article explores the dynamics of adaptation and negotiation carried out by indigenous women in Tenganan Pegringsingan Village, Karangasem, Bali, in performing the tradition of banten (ritual offerings) making amid the pressures of modernity and the growing demand for efficiency. As one of the Bali Aga villages that strongly upholds awig-awig (customary law) in everyday life, the community of Tenganan Pegringsingan is often misperceived as a society that resists change. In reality, however, the villagers continuously encounter various transformations in social, economic, technological, and tourism dynamics that shape their daily lives. Based on ethnographic research employing participant observation, in-depth interviews, and literature review, this study demonstrates that customary practices in the village are not static. Tenganan women play a crucial role in reproducing as well as negotiating customary practices, particularly in the tradition of banten making, through various adaptive strategies in their daily lives. Utilizing the Practice Theory framework developed by Pierre Bourdieu, this article analyzes how women’s habitus that formed within a strong customary system, interacts with different forms of capital in responding to social change. The findings reveal that Tenganan women develop practical strategies such as collective labor-sharing through the practice of metulung and the selective use of more efficient materials, while maintaining the sacred boundaries defined by customary norms. Thus, adaptation in this context does not represent a dilution of tradition but rather constitutes a form of social practice that enables the continuity of banten making amid changing social conditions. The study further highlights that the sustainability of customary traditions in Tenganan Pegringsingan depends not only on the authority of awig-awig, but also on women’s agency in navigating and negotiating ritual practices in everyday life.

Abstract

In contemporary society, digital culture has played a major role in transforming how people experience and express spirituality. The advent of online faith communities, virtual rituals, and digital preaching hints that religious experience is no longer exclusively reliant on local sacred spaces or established institutional authority. This article studies the phenomenology of virtual spirituality in complex digital culture by analyzing the novel transformations of agency, orders of authority, sacred-symbol systems, and affective religious experience. Using qualitative-analytical methods guided by a thorough literature review, supplemented by select secondary empirical studies, this analysis integrates the sociology of religion, symbolic anthropology, and digital religion studies. Four findings are central: (1) networked faith communities function as infrastructures of psychosocial-spiritual support, (2) digital ritual-devotional practice that reconfigure sacred presence mediations, (3) hybrid religious authority emerging from platform visibility-interaction, (4) recontextualization of sacred symbols through remediation-personalization in a "spiritual marketplace." These findings imply that virtual spirituality is not simply a technological adaptation and signal an ontological change in the production and negotiation of sacrality in digital ecologies.
