Abstract

This artistic research is carried out to develop motif designs with digital print techniques which will be directed by exploring visual motifs with the source of the Bima puppet character idea to be developed towards more creative and innovative designs. This design uses a design approach that goes through three main processes, namely; the process of exploration, termination, and extraction (Palgunadi. 2007).The results of this development succeeded in creating 6 designs with an illustrative and modern visual style. The application of this development is directed at casual shirts for men with an age range of 17-25 years, taking into account the selection of appropriate colors and compositions so as to produce creative and innovative products that have characteristics and updates in terms of design. This development resulted in a new design display that bridged textile motifs with today's casual shirt products. By using digital processing techniques, this development can produce designs that consider more realistic and imaginative visual results but do not eliminate the philosophical essence of the motif itself

Abstract

Public libraries play an important role with a functional approach, namely the library as a container that can be a source of information in terms of improving intellectual abilities and literacy abilities. The enthusiasm of the Malang city people who come to visit the Malang city public library is very high to provide quality human resources. The community's mastery of literacy is very important. The Malang City public library design method is based on field studies or literature studies as basic materials through a design process which includes three stages, namely input, analysis and output. Designing a public library with a Mid Century Modern style will be able to create an appearance that is more modern, functional, and conducive to the desired atmosphere and goals by using ergonomic and anthropometric approaches which will later standardize the size and shape of the interior.

Abstract

This artistic research entitled “The Death Carriage Incident in Bondowoso as a Source of Ideas for Painting Works” is a response to my experience of hearing and reading the historical story of the Bondowoso people’s struggle. The death carriage incident is a sad story of the Bondowoso people’s struggle with their fighters. The story of the mass arrests carried out by the Dutch aggressors against the people and fighters of Bondowoso, to the point that the prisons in Bondowoso were no longer able to accommodate the prisoners. As a result, the Dutch army transferred prisoners using trains (three goods cars to transport the prisoners) from Bondowoso station to Surabaya station which then led to a tragedy known as the Bondowoso death carriage incident. The purpose of this creative research is to create works of painting that originate from the Bondowoso death carriage incident. This paper will explain the concept of creation, method of creation, process of creation and description of the works of painting that were created. The concept of the creation of this final assignment expresses the depiction or scene of the events of the Bondowoso death carriage incident, with the depiction obtained from my imagination based on the data obtained. The emergence of imagination or images in my mind became the starting point for the emergence of creative ideas which were then expressed in romanticism-style paintings. The method of creating the work refers to Francisco Goya's method of creation. The method consists of three stages, namely: the first stage, collecting sources of ideas or information; the second stage, developing initial ideas by describing what is obtained from information or personal experience, and combining the data received with imagination; the third stage, visualizing ideas and imagination into the media. This artistic research produces romanticism-style paintings using a combination of acrylic and oil paints on canvas media.

Abstract

The process of creating Budi'spainting"Ubrux"emphasizes that social reality is the main basis for the inspiration for its creation.Direct involvement with social, political and cultural issues is reflected in the themes raised in his work, such as the figure of the clown which is used as a critique of the abuse of power by government officials. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interview methods, observation and document analysis. The analysis was carried out by applying StuartHall's theory of representation, especially the encoding and decoding approach, to understand how the meaning in Budi's work "Ubrux" is produced and received by the audience. This study reveals the complexity of visual messages through symbols such as clown faces, haircolor, and facial expressions. The representational analysis approach makes it possible to explore the symbolic meaning and social context in these works, enriching our understanding of the social, political and cultural criticism conveyed by Budi "Ubrux" through the clown theme

Abstract

This study aims to explore gender perceptions in children's graphic art practices based on observations of their family environment through the YBS community at SD Negeri 02 Gentungan using a contextual approach. Data were collected through graphic artworks and interviews, employing high print techniques with eva foam matrices, where children selected 8professionsassociatedwithmasculinityandfemininity.Thefindingsrevealthat10-year-old children have recognized their gender roles, reflected in their choice of professions aligned withtheirgender. However, thereareindicationsofpotentialsubversionofgendernorms,as someboys choseprofessions, like acookand a tailor. These findingssupport Judith Butler's view that gender identity and roles are formed through the repetition of observed actions, demonstrating how familial and social contexts shape children's gender identity and career choices in line with the concept of gender performativity
